In the last game, it called him Dr. Mario, and it's obvious his games are some weird alternate reality from the one where Mario fights Bowser.
Plumbers don't have Ph.Ds!

Wow. This is exactly the version of Wario I wanted to played with! I was bummed that there was no representation for the Wario Land series because of Wario's WarioWare costume, the WarioWare stage and music. So I'm very happy with this update.
I'm very surprised Sakurai didn't do this for Mario seeing how much he loves the Dr. Mario theme. He could have made Dr. Mario an alternate costume for Mario with its own alternate colors. And Dr. Mario IS Mario, alternate reality or not. But I'm not upset by the exclusion of Dr. Mario anyway.
As for Lucas/Ness, just no. They are two different boys with exactly the same clothes. At the very least they would be head swaps of each other.

I'm hoping that Wario Kirby gets the classic Wario hat like Mario's hat when he inhales Overalls Wario. That'd be awesome if that was in the game. It would look weird copying Overalls Wario and getting the WarioWare helmet.
I really love the alternate colors of Overalls Wario. My favorites would be the Mario's original DK overalls and Game Boy overalls.
Wouldn't Pokemon Trainer still be "Pokemon Trainer" if the character changed genders and had alternate costumes as the female trainers such as Crystal, May, and Dawn? Too bad Sakurai didn't think of that and only gave that special feature to Wario. But I'll take Overalls Wario anyway! This is the version of Wario I always wanted to play as! Yay!
Anyone notice that Overalls Wario's outfit isn't as detailed as his standard WarioWare outfit or Mario's overalls or even Waluigi's overalls? (and he's an AT!) Maybe this special feature was a last-minute addition and that's why Wario's the only one who has this special feature?

LOVE this. For many fans of Wario who wanted Classic Wario representation (I know a few) and the way it works. Right fabric for his overalls over denim, detail, excellent pose, and Mario Wario cracks me up. Greatest Christmas Gift I'll get from the Dojo right now.

Just because Sakurai says that he's the only one with an alternate costume, does'nt mean he IS the ONLY one. If you'd make SSBB, you would'nt spoil everything!
So there IS a possibility that some characters got it to, like the Pokemon Trainer changing gender, Mario could have a Dr.Mario and maiby a Luigi costume, Lucas might have a Ness or even a Claus costume (or maiby even a Pokey costume ;D) Snake might have his incarnations from other MGS games, Sonic might have colours from characters like Shadow and Silver or somehing, ZSS might have her zero suit from other games, Fox might have alternates from other SF members, Yoshi might have a Boshi suit, and maiby someone got a Demille suit!

I wanted alt. costumes to be in the game just for the hope of playing as classic Wario. Overalls Wario confirmed and it sounds like he is the only one, and that's fine by me.
This update is awesome!

Just because Sakurai said Warios the only one with alternate costumes doesn't mean he's the only one with alternate costumes? Huh? I'm sorry but it sounds like denial talk. It can't get any more clearer than that. Its like saying Waluigi can still be playable if the playable Waluigi wears a WarioWare-esque outfit. Now I would be pleasantly surprised if it turned out Wario isn't the only one with alternate costumes but I highly doubt anyone is going to have a DeMille costume.

Y'know, this partly supports my theory. And Flip, I believe, had the same idea.  So, anyway, this is great! Couldn't imagine any other costume that could fit any better! Now, about the costume-name convo, couldn't the name under the image just change with the costume? I know that sounds a little wierd, but I can see that being done. I really want to see Dr. Mario and Ness. |

The whole point of a costume is to be a costume, not another character. That' why they wouldn't do something like make Ness a costume for Lucas or have costumes that change the character's stats, because those would be more than just costumes.

This update is great. I didn't really want to play as Warioware Wario, cause when I pitted Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Wario together, I'd want it to be overalls Wario.

Yay! I'm finally on vacation, so I can finally post again ;D( Work has been really heavy lately)...
¡Great update! Really hope there are a few (just a few) other alternate outfits (right now only Pokemon Trainer, Mario and Link came to my mind, and that would be right because those three are Nintendo's more popular franchises)
I don't expect characters to change into other characters, (Lucas into Ness, Yoshi into Birdo, etc) but I do expect this to open the floodgates of people claiming that that will happen.

Otherwise, he'd say "There are more characters with this. Who are they? You'll have have to find out." |

Still, I'll probably use WW Wario more than SMB Mario more often, except under certain occasions (Mario-themed battle ftw?)

Mario could have a Dr.Mario and maiby a Luigi costume No, no, no, no. Luigi will be Luigi. I love this! That's the Wario many prefer, and it represents the other half of Wario's history. IMO this suit should be better for his adventure mode appearances. This, along with Wario's symbol being a "W" (and not a Bomb), hints that there could be some content from Wario Land that some of you would love to see in the game (Wario Land stages, etc.). Also, Mario deserves one or more of his many alternate costumes. Possibly non-functional ones so that his moves still make sense (like the cape and F.L.U.D.D.). |
