Sakurai never said we would only have one guest character (Snake), he said one or two more guest characters after Snake. Keyword is "or" so after Sonic, we either have one more guest star or none. But if Geno counts as third-party then maybe no Mega Man. He said "1 or 2 more, maybe" or something along those lines. That could have meant anything. That being said, yes, it does look unlikely we'll get any more, but I wouldn't count it out entirely just yet.

There's still a chance for a final 3rd party fighter. It can come as a massive shock, but they don't need to advertise it. I can definitely see it being something like Pac-Man now, considering that he wouldn't require MASSIVE fanfare. Mega Man sorta does, and all the perfect times to unveil him passed already.
That being said, Sakurai places Geno in the Mario camp according to the Melee poll. I don't know if he's still considered "third-party" in the same sense as being a guest character, but he certainly would not require an unveiling before release all the same--the genius of the character in my mind.

Plus, he 'd seem awkward (never liked him with legs).

Pac-Man, I doubt would be in Brawl, is very iconic and so what if he's a has-been than Sonic. Plus Pac-Man have had legs and arms since the 1980s.... so it is not from Pac-Man World like some would like to think.

May not be glamorous, but it's da truth. You forgot to show Pac-Man. This is what he looked like on the Japanese arcade cabinets and flyers of Puck Man, the Japanese version of Pac-Man: Speaking of Pac-Man, did anyone know that Pac-Man is Shigeru Miyamoto's favorite non-Nintendo video game, according to Nintendo Power's Star Fox 64 Player's Guide?

That Pac-Man has one heck of a nose. Must be like Pinnocho's and extends when he lies. Poor, poor Mrs Pac-Man.
I didn't know that fact about SM but I thought I heard a while ago one of his favourite games is SimCity and that's why it came to the SNES.
