This thread is for discussing about our favorite songs in SSBB. Please tell why you like each song. Here's how I do it and these are my favorite songs in SSBB:
Winning Road - Roy's Hope: The sixth Fire Emblem game of the series, Fuuin no Tsurugi (a.k.a. The Sealed Sword, The Sword of Seals, The Binding Blade, Fire Emblem 6, etc.) was the first Fire Emblem game I've played. I decided to buy it as soon as I heard about it in a Nintendo Power issue explaining where Marth and Roy came from. This song is one of my favorites in the Fire Emblem game, and it even sounds slightly nicer than
this other officially arranged version of the same song.
Shadow Dragon Medley: I like the first Fire Emblem more than the third one. One reason why is that the music in the first sounds nicer than the music in the third one.
With Mila's Divine Protection (Celica Map 1): It's nice to hear something from one of the least popular (if not the least popular) Fire Emblem games of the series. It's also nice to have a song with a Mexican or Spanish accent. I'm currently playing Fire Emblem Gaiden and it seems pretty much easier than most other Fire Emblem games, because you can reuse weapons as many times as you want to; however, some bosses are quite hard like a dragon, which slightly heals itself in every turn and is tough to defeat with any weapon other than a dragon-killing, wheel of fire-like magic casted by Celica.
Here is a video showing when Celica begins to travel and battle, with the original version of the music heard in SSBB.
Underworld Theme (Super Mario Land): Even though I like lesser-known, but good games from Nintendo, I remember playing Super Mario Land way back when I was five or six. I enjoyed the music more than the music heard in the first Super Mario Bros..
Here is the original version It would of been nicer if SSBB had an arranged version of
the overworld theme heard in the Birabuto and Easton Kingdoms, as well as
the music heard when riding on the Marine Pop (Mario's submarine) or the Sky Pop (Mario's plane).
Corneria (SSBB): One reason why I like the original Star Fox more than Star Fox 64 is Hajime Hirasawa's work on its music. One of the best I heard is the Corneria music. It sounds a lot better than the Corneria music heard in Star Fox 64. The SSBB version of this song sounds like a shorter version of
this official Corneria song found on
this CD album and on
this CD album.
Space Armada: Same reason why I enjoy the SSBB Corneria music.
Star Fox - Main Theme: Same reason why I enjoy the SSBB Corneria and Space Armada songs. Also, the Star Fox series should of kept this main theme instead of having a new one starting with Star Fox 64.
Fire Field: Fire Field was one very tough track, but its background music was extraordinary. It made me feel like I'm going to have a hard time racing the track. The SSBB version has electric guitars that make it sound even more exciting than the original itself.
Climb Up! And Get The Last Chance!: Even though this is an unaltered song, it is one of my favorite songs in the F-ZERO series. It sounds like a creepy countdown before something dangerous happens or something like that.
Mother 3 Love Theme: I played MOTHER 3/GBA EarthBound, and this song sounds relaxing. It feels like you've waited a very long period of time between the release of MOTHER 2/SNES EarthBound and MOTHER 3/GBA EarthBound, which it is.
Douchuumen (Nazo no Murasamejo): Even though this song wasn't arranged, I'm glad that there are a couple of Nazo no Murasamejo representation in SSBB. This song sounds like Takamaru is riding on a horse. If this song was arranged, then it would of sounded like
this song or
this song.
X - Tunnel Scene: I played X before I heard a sample of its arranged song in SSBB. When I heard its arranged song, I was excited about X being represented in SSBB after its been quite obscure for a long period of time. I also noticed it was one of the songs added to Nintendo Sound Selection Vol.3: Luigi B-Side Music. I guess it was added to both the official soundtrack and SSBB, because it is Kazumi Totaka's first great song, but its probably not his very first song he added to a video game. So great, it's most likely the most popular song in X. When I uploaded
the original version, several people liked the original more than the SSBB version.
Title (3D Hot Rally): Even though this is a Mario game, this is one of the best title screen songs I've ever heard in a Japan-only game by Nintendo. Also, I always wonder what it's like to play 3D Hot Rally with the 3D goggles.
Here is the original version with official vehicle sound effects.
Shin Onigashima: It's good to hear some music from the first text-adventure game of the Famicom Fairytale series. I played the original Shin Onigashima before, it was like making the right decisions, but if you make a wrong decision, you would have to start over. That gameplay was interesting. I've never played the Super Famicom version, but I will sometime later in the future. To learn more about the game, I requested a translation for it's English Wikipedia article, and
it is now translated.
Here is the original version of the first part of the SSBB version, and
here is the original version of the second part of the SSBB version.
Shaberu! DS Cooking Navi: When I heard the preview of the SSBB version, I thought it will only be heard in the Japanese version of SSBB. But now I'm glad to hear it in the localized versions, I enjoyed this song since I first heard it in
this commercial for Shaberu! DS Cooking Navi. If I knew a lot about the Japanese language, I would of bought this DS software and use it right at home. In one of the most recent conferences, Satoru Iwata said he uses Shaberu! DS Cooking Navi right at his home sometimes. The music sounds both relaxing and sometimes funny.
Golden Forest (1080°Snowboarding): I've never played 1080° before, because N64 games were very expensive back then. Also, I wasn't very interested in snowboarding games until I heard this song in SSBB. It sounds kinda like plain rock, but it's still good, even though its not arranged.
Marionation Gear: Like X, I've never expected to see any Chosoju Mecha MG representatives in SSBB. I thought Chosoju Mecha MG was going to sell poorly, because of it being similar to the Transformers series, as well as other Japanese shows with giant mechs. I was wrong on that one, because the game itself makes you feel kinda like you're riding one.
Here is the original version of the song, which sounds very much like the SSBB version, but slightly louder. The SSBB version still sounds good.
Tal Tal Heights: Even though I'm more interested in Nintendo's lesser-known, but good games, Link's Awakening DX was the first Zelda game I've ever had, but it wasn't the first I've played. The first Zelda was the first I've played, because I was at one of my baby-sitter's playing her son's NES and he had Zelda. I was curious about it and I was like "I don't know where to start or travel, what should I do?" Link's Awakening was the second Zelda game I've played. Someone in elementary school let me play theirs at the bus stop. When I played the DX version, it sorta felt like I was back at the bus stop playing it. I liked this main Zelda theme in it more than any other versions of the main Zelda theme.
Hyrule Field Theme: Even though I'm more interested in the lesser-known, but good games by Nintendo, when I heard a lot about Ocarina of Time, I've decided to buy it and play it. This is my favorite song in the entire game, and I'm glad it was added to SSBB.
Lip's Theme (Panel de Pon): Lip's Theme is my favorite song heard in Panel de Pon. The SSBB version sounds nearly as good as
this slightly altered version of the original found on the official Japanese Panel de Pon website.
Credits (Super Smash Bros.) - This song makes me feel younger. Also, it's very nice to hear some music from the original SSB in SSBB. A shorter version of this song can be heard in SSBB's Home-Run Contest.
And then finally...
Flat Zone 2: This song makes me feel more energetic than the original Flat Zone, because Flat Zone 2 has a higher tempo and louder Game & Watch sound effects. I don't know why Nintendo or Sakurai said this came from Game & Watch Gallery 1, but it's probably an error like saying Meta Knight first appeared in Kirby Super Star according to his SSBM Trophy, which he actually came from Kirby's Adventure. If Game & Watch Gallery music was added, then I would want
this arranged version of the modern Manhole theme.
