They list the GB Kid Icarus game but his trophy doesn't mention it at all. This all offers a fine explanation I suppose, but it's funny that they would never acknowledge internationally developed games. Little Mac, although parrothead will argue it's not the same boxer, doesn't mention Super Punch-Out!! on his trophy either. The lack of Kid Icarus content, despite Pit being from the Disk System era, I guess can be explained away as him being, to the Japanese, "just another Famicom face."
He gets the same buffs from stickers that the other three retro characters get and appears down the end of the list with their trophies as well. This, I might add, really really bothered me to the point of being offended. But if Japan discredits the GB Kid Icarus then that explains why they are dissing Pit, but it's still obnoxious to disclude something that more than half your players are going to recall as being a legit game. I recall, somewhere, Sakurai making some comment that he was surprised Pit was so popular in the Western polls. Part of his decision to include Pit was because he was so highly-requested, but he never EVER understood why. He even mentioned it in Pit's old profile on the original site, didn't he? I know it was talked about in an interview with IGN. And what's sad about it is that just prior to Pit coming back for Smash, Miyamoto joked with IGN that they really wanted to bring Kid Icarus back if the fans wanted it. Yes, they did, but it's still not as much fanfare as it should have gotten in my eyes, and hopefully a lot of other folks' as well.
Oy... Nintendo. You really confuse the hell out of me sometimes. Seriously.

Nintendo doesn't care much about most games that were originally released exclusively outside of Japan You forget, every Metal Gear Solid game was released in America before Japan, and Snake got in... but then again, MGS is a big franchise so...eh, I don't know

he said "exclusively outside of Japan", meaning games that were never released in Japan at all.

he said "exclusively outside of Japan", meaning games that were never released in Japan at all. But some were released in Japan, just America first.

Teev... I think the discussion is only referring to games never released in Japan. After all, most Metroid games are released in the US first as well, and Samus got in - doesn't mean a whole lot It's an understandable point though - Nintendo Co. Ltd. is a Japanese company, and very focused on its home market. It leaves the running of the other territories to its international subsidiaries. But as the majority of game development occurs in Japan (and because Nintendo IRD is no longer producing America-centric game titles as they did in the NES days) then we're not going to see any reference to non-Japanese games. The only way it'll happen is if the game development takes place outside of Japan - such as Pilotwings 64 (Nester cameo). I'm sure many Japanese gamers would love to play Star Tropics or Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge though. Who knows - maybe the Virtual Console will some day give them the chance.

I was too lazy to list several more games. And by the way, your avatar reminds me of Bravoman. /\ /\ I know I'm probably splitting hairs with this, but there is some content releated to the above games. There are stickers for Kid Icarus:OM&M. Nester's Funky Bowling is in the chronicle,as are the others. There may be stickers for the other games, as I'm still 150+ stickers away from a full set. So it's a bit innacurate to say there is no content from them. I know most of the games I mentioned are listed in the Chronicle section. I've also decided to not mention the Ken Griffey Jr. baseball games, because they feature real baseball teams, as well as Ken Griffey Jr. himself.

I'd quite like to see those Kid Icarus stickers. I'm highly suspicious. Here is a (very badly took...) picutre of them. From left to right: it, Eggplant Wizard, Reaper & Reapette, Pit (OM&M). I highlighted the latter to show it is from OM&M. The title can be seen in teh gren bar at the bottom.

The golden rule was don't post if you haven't got anything interesting or funny to add. And why? because It's so boring here.Nah, I'd been sitting on this for several weeks now.
