Who is your best character in Brawl and why? What makes them better than anyone else?
Mine would have to be Snake. His side smash is surprisingly destructive. It can be used for one-hit KO's, and I hope think I've mastered it.
Wolf is also really good, as his smashes are powerful.

Heh, I thought about doing a thread like this.
Hm, tricky question, though. At this point, I'd have to lean towards Ike. He is insanely powerful, has solid return options, excellent range and can punish groups of foes with ease. Due to his range, he can defuse bombs without taking damage, his Eruption and Aether moves can not be interrupted once they begin (usually), and he can clear out a room insanely fast. He also moves at a decent clip, and he's a lot of fun to play as.
Capt. Falcon is my second best, as he was my best in Melee. He's better this go-around, too, so that's a plus. The 180 Falcon Punch trick and his bouncing up after a midair Raptor Boost are vast improvements, and his speed and power are as awesome as ever.
I'm working on getting better with Wolf and Toon Link, as I like their style of play a lot, too.

The random button is my best character. Actually, I'm maining Lucario, just because no one likes him.

Lucas for me. Great air moves, insane U-Smash and great F-smash plus pretty good tilts. Not to mention he's fast, with little lag on most of his moves. An absorbing special doesn't hurt either.

Lucas and Sonic for me. I'm still good with the ICs and Pikachu. I can't use Peach anymore (best character in Melee) but I'll learn.

Lucas for all the reasons Qu names. Also PK Thunder for easily snatching smash balls.
I like Ike. His smashes take forever but he has a few quick attacks, like that 1-2-slice. Forward tilt is also a lot quicker then his smashes and can also kill easily. And his sword makes a cool sound when it hits. Same pretty much goes for Dedede, slow but a few quick moves to keep the enemy away.
Also loving the new G&W. Sure his area effect awesome parachute's gone, but his recovery is like Peach now, with a huge jump. His key attack is pretty similar to Toon Link, his toxic spray attack is actually useful now and olympic fire (that's how we call it anyway) is a good, quick finisher.
Other then that, tip-of-sword Marth is still pretty damn good. Though his FS is hella cheap... Still need to get used to Falco not kicking around like Fox, just like I still need to get used to not using air dodge for a quick 3rd jump.....
tl;dr Lucas, G&W and Ike are awesome.

Sure his area effect awesome parachute's gone, but his recovery is like Peach now, with a huge jump. I've noticed a lot of characters have reeeeeeeally high Up+Specials such as Dedede, Snake, Sonic, and even Ganondorf's has vastly improved.

So far I'm playing fairly good as Jigglypuff and Ness (my two mains from SSB64 and Melee, and still being my mains). Mr. Game & Watch, Ice Climbers and R.O.B. rock as well. Other characters I'm interested to learn are Mario, Wario, Luigi, DK, Snake, C. Falcon, Toon Link, Ganondorf, Olimar, and Pokemon Trainer, since I like how they play in Brawl.

My best is probably Kirby. I loved him in 64, and I mained him in Melee for waaaay too long (before I realized he just wasn't any good), so it's awesome that I can kick ass with him again. Falco is still a solid player, and I'm still really good with him, but he's no longer my best as he was in Melee. Ike and Olimar are my best newcomers. Ike is powerful, but has some quick attacks and with Olimar I can just run around tossing Pikmin and (Up+A) spin attacking until the damages are high enough to Up+smash them off the stage.
I'm pretty good with Snake, Toon Link, and Ness too. It's harder to pick out the best characters because Brawl feels a lot more balanced. However, I'm TERRIBLE with R.O.B. I just can't win with him.

As far as vets I would say I'm still doing well with Yoshi, Zelda, and Marth. Yoshi got a lot lighter and lost some punch this time around so he is not as good for FFAs. I feel like his Fair, Smashes, and Egg Toss were all downgraded severely as well. However, getting a third jump and losing double-jump cancel makes him a bit more maneuverable in the air I find. His Dair is deadly again Zelda got fast and Din's Fire is insanely powerful and great for off-screen KOs--it flings people now. Her fair/bair got severely downgraded in its hitbox, but her smashes and tilts are better I find. Marth is still mostly the same, though I don't play him enough in FFAs to really notice a difference. Newcomers? Pit, Diddy, Ivysaur, Olimar, Snake, Wario. I'm decent with all six of those. The two I play the most are Pit and Diddy, and then it goes down in that order I would say. Pit is really fun to use because he has sharp and quick attacks and fantastic recovery. I rarely use his specials, though, which bugs me a bit. His arrows are fun for popping people into the air but unlike a lot of other people I'm a melee fighter through and through. Diddy is fantastic for that reason, because he's really fast and nimble and his attacks have a lot of good combo potential. His Side B is fantastic for recovery and that little kick it does, while his smashes are all good. The bananas are fun too. Ivysaur plays a mean anti-air game. 'Nuff said. Olimar is fun but is hit or miss for me, because sometimes I own with him and other times I get owned. He's a hard character to master. Snake is really cheap and I find it easy to win. I spam his smashes and C4s a lot, and always Cypher around the stage then drop into a scissor kick. Wario is fun because he's freakin' Wario. His Bite cancels everything, his Bike is hilarious and godly, and he's really good at getting the Smash Ball with his Up B. I love him. All in all, the characters I play the MOST in Brawl are Zelda (green [Celtic] or black [Malfoy ] costumes), Pit (red, blue [Zeus powers], or green [Bacchus] costumes), and Diddy (his alt costumes all suck). I don't play Yoshi as much as I used to, sadly.

Aww no Fox love today. Well Fox is my best character and he plays similar to melee, easy to get back into the swing of things. I would also recommend Snake, Shiek, Toon Link and Marth. Ike is a bit overpowered.
Why Fox? Excellent speed, good jump, balanced aerial/ground attacks, projectiles and reflector aaaannndd I dunno, fairly good FS too.

My main six and other favorites. Main six are all favorite characters, well the last two I've only now loved beyond their games. Luigi: I didn't use him in Melee because he wasn't himself. It didn't have his character, or any character beyond Mario with a high pitched voice and some different moves. Brawl fixes this with clear inspiration from Alphadream's RPGs. And now I can finally use my favorite character ever created in a game... and I just need to not suck with him, now. Meta Knight: My favorite Kirby character, who went from an interesting anti-hero to a complete badass when I finally got my hands on a copy of KSS in 2004. His moves can be cheap, I guess, but I try not to overuse the same one too much. His swordplay is great, and although he makes opponents flinch, he's easy to knock aside and easy to counter and dodge. Solid Snake: The living legend. You can't just play as him and immediately get good, people who say that need to be smacked. Snake works like the Metal Gear games themselves, in that all those weapons and CQC tactics will be totally useless if you can't plan out what you're going to do. Tricking your opponents and getting a laugh out of it (or a laugh at you bumbling into your own traps) is very satisfying. Marth: Melee main and second favorite FE character. His dancing blade has been beefed up, and attacking with the tip of the Falchion can lead to great results. Countering in the air often leads to the enemy attacking you more than on the ground, and nothing like throwing a foe up and skewering them into a comet KO. Pit: I'm a big Kid Icarus fan so when I use Pit, I will use his arrows a lot to keep the feeling of the KI games around. He's a great defensive character, with some of the best aerial attacks and a wide array of attacks that keep the opponent stuck in your spinning of the bow/blades (Angel Ring, Neutral and Up Aerials) R.O.B.: I'm a biiig fan of Gyromite, and with the role of emotions R.O.B. has in Brawl, he's become an actual favorite character to me. His moveset also helps, with the gyro item and a laser that helps distance foes to charge a gyro. Repulsorlift base moves in the air and his Up Smash work wonders, too. Other good characters: Diddy Kong Samus (both forms) Toon Link Kirby Dedede Sonic

I think my top three include Mr G&W, Zelda, and oddly enough, Pokemon Trainer.
I like G&W because I like trying to get those instant KO's with his side special. I once caught two opponents in it online while coming down from a jump. It was funny, but I guess you had to be there.
Zelda is a good power character. She can clear out a crowd easily with her neutral special or down smash. Her side special is a great distance attack, and it's great in Sudden Death. I once caught this really good Dedede player off guard with it.
And I like Pokemon Trainer primarily for Charizard, but I can use Squirtle and Ivysaur just as well. I think the versatility of it works well for me. Charizard is a little like Zelda in that it's powerful, but not too slow.
Of course, it's most satisfying to pick a "misfit" character and take down a good Ike player. ;D

I'd say my best character has always been Kirby. I KNOW Kirby like the back of my hand, since I played as him in SSB64. Toon Link is much improved from Young Link in Melee, and is a good second. Normally, I'm also good with Mario, but they gave him the stupid FLUDD, and nerfed him badly. I think I'm ok with Pit, Olimar, and Diddy of the Newcomers, but I'm loads better with Kirby.
