Uh... I'm not sure what's being said here but Japan is basically associated as the East despite being West to the US.

Has anyone looked at a map? The US is in the west, and Japan in the east thus why the place is called the far east. Not to mention that Europe and the US are called western countries. Yes, we know. And you said the Japanese will make games for the West and the West only. In other words, Japanese making games for US/PAL. Which is completely untrue. If anything, Japan makes games only for Japan. You make no sense.

You make no sense. It' becuase there is less money in the east. They are starting to go to the way side. This is only reinforced by the 360, a console that sells horribly in the east and is undermined by the PS3 in Europe but is still second. Some Japanese developers have been taking note and are developing more games with a western ideas in mind. Of course, I assume it's a joke?

Well in some ways, yes. In other ways, no.
When it comes to fandom, Nintendo tends to only care about the fans of Japan and the money of the west. Like I said, when it comes to the current gaming market, it's the fans who get screwed the most.

AAARGH!!!!!! Nintendo Germany renamed Captain Syrup "Kapitän Kandis"!!!!! *sniff* Anyway, the Japanese minisite has been translated for NoE's site, here's the English one: www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/games/wii/wario_land_the_shake_dimension_8904.htmlThe names of the characters are: English: Wario Captain Syrup Merfle Queen Merelda Shake King German: Wario Kapitän Kandis Mürfel Königin Midori König Rüttelbert French: Wario Capitaine Syrup Merlufe Reine Mérelda Roi Shake Spanish: Wario Capitana Sirope Merfle Reina Merelda Rey Agitador Italian: Wario Capitan Melassa Merpino Regina Merelda Shake King At least Syrup's name isn't lost, since it's still used in other languages...

Did Germany ever get Wario Land? We got all Wario Lands except for the Virtual Boy one. And in the German manuals and other official publications, Captain Syrup was either called "Sirop" or "Syrup", but not "Kandis", a completely different name. It does mean "rock candy" or "rock sugar". Would like to know why you think that Germany didn't get Wario Land? NinDB clearly tells that the games were released in Europe. Or do you see Germany as a seperate one? The war is over. BTW, how ugly is this? The German cover on the right, the cover for the rest of Europe on the left. The German USK rating logo is now extra large since a few weeks, for EVERY game. And its important part, the number, is still smaller than the PEGI number, though the logo is much bigger! They had to move the game logo up and to remove the little enemy because of that hobo. But Nintendo can't be blamed for this, blame the German government!

Just a question....How come Germany has it's own ratings board? What's wrong with using PEGI?

Just a question....How come Germany has it's own ratings board? What's wrong with using PEGI? If I only knew that, ask the politicians. Unlike PEGI ratings in the most countries, the USK ratings are legally enforceable in general. That does also mean that all games which weren't USK-rated back then (in the 1970s, 80s, 90s, early 2000s) are officially adult-only games. So yeah, Kirby's Pinball Land is an adult-only game in Germany, dudes! The same goes for every import game, so the Stafy games are adult-only as well. The seperate ratings in Germany might have to do with the fact that Germany is much more restrictive in terms of violent content than other countries. There are often seperate, censored versions of games for Germany, because otherwise too violant games won't get USK ratings and will get blacklisted in the country. Wolfenstein 3D, GoldenEye 007 and Dead Rising are examples for blacklisted games. But that giant USK logo was the last thing we needed. Players who don't care about ratings will not care about ratings with a bigger rating logo, either. It's only bad for the collectors, because they have to import the games from Austria or Switzerland to get a German-language version with a nice box art. If the logo deserves a change, then it's the too small number which needs to be bigger. The rest of the logo is filled with law blabla (very tiny text) and two stylized people, totally unneeded. I haven't seen it so far, but I wonder how the German Brawl box art does now look with the "new" rating? It would cover Link's face.

Would like to know why you think that Germany didn't get Wario Land? Well, because Captain Syrup has a completely different name in Germany, and if Germany never actually got Wario Land, then they might not've known Captain Syrup's name. Considering it has a different rating board and character names, yeah, I kinda did Also, I just noticed...Wario is coming out of a Mario pipe in the bottom right area of the boxart.

Well, because Captain Syrup has a completely different name in Germany, and if Germany never actually got Wario Land, then they might not've known Captain Syrup's name. Well, that's what is called inconsistent translation. This isn't the only time it happened. Toadette was known as "T. Tanja" in the German version of Paper Mario 2, though being called Toadette in MK:DD, but that mistake got corrected. I hope that they'll also correct Syrup's name with her next appearance. But they are errors in American translations as well: Petey Piranha was called "Boss P. Plant" in Super Princess Peach. But again, it was fixed the next time. Considering it has a different rating board and character names, yeah, I kinda did Also, I just noticed...Wario is coming out of a Mario pipe in the bottom right area of the boxart. Nintendo characters can be known under up to 5 different names in Europe. Examples: Charizard (3 names), Drawcia (3 or more names), Shake King (4 names), Rosalina (4 names), Elvin Gadd (5 names) and Cackletta (5 names). About the different rating boards, before there was PEGI, that didn't influence the release dates, either.

I knew Germany was strict with their game ratings but Kirby Pinball Land being "Adult only"? Did he look too much like a boob or something? Koopaul:Yeah, good point. I forgot where I heard this, but Nintendo is one of the worst companies at changing things based on consumer response.

That goes for every unrated-game, and if it'd be a Teletubbies game. USK ratings became legally enforceable in 2003. I remember the day when suddenly the boxes in the game store were covered by all those "16 years" and "18 years" stickers, including LEGO Island and Zelda: The Oracle of Ages. Wow, the first mature-"rated" Zelda game! Koopaul:Yeah, good point. I forgot where I heard this, but Nintendo is one of the worst companies at changing things based on consumer response. But then why did Nintendo reduce the use of Tingle because of his unpopularity among American (not Japanese!) fans?

Us fans of Tingle in America are of a minority. Tingle is sadly hated around the country, and a poll for Tingle RPG coming here got more negatives than positives on the NOA site.
