What bothers me the most about Wario isn't the grossness, because he was ALWAYS that way (just watch the old commercials, guys). He got drunk, he picked his nose, he ate too much and became a rotting zombie... Wario may not have always been a farting/burping machine, but he did have that edge. No... what bothers me is that Wario has become two separate characters. There's the Wario we see in the Mario spinoff titles and the increasingly rare Wario Land series, where's he got super strength, he's TALLER than Mario, and he's just a greedy son of a bitch. And then there's the Wario Ware Wario, who is a far more disgusting and less ambitious version of Wario. I don't disagree with Sakurai's decision to opt for the Ware Wario, due to a lot of reasons it WAS a better choice, but I do disagree with his decision to basically disclude anything from the Wario Land series. That, to me, was a slap in the face to loyal fans who remember being introduced to and playing Super Mario Land 2 bright and early Easter morning on their ancient Game Boys back '92, the true birth of Wario Basically, the only nods to Wario Land are the costume, forward smash, victory theme, and All-Star Mode placement. I cannot think of anything else that isn't from Wario Ware or completely made up to turn Wario into the character Sakurai envisioned him to be.

Oh, but you see.. Wario is special. That's why he's the only one who has the alternate costume. Lets take this further and give Wario two movesets. One for WarioWare and one for Wario Land. Its the perfect way to represent the way Nintendo is presenting Wario nowadays like Flip said above. Lets not go nuts and say everybody must have two movesets.

And then there's the Wario Ware Wario, who is a far more disgusting and less ambitious version of Wario. You know he started WarioWare Inc. because he wanted to make money right? (In the first WW he didn't pay the rest of his friends for helping him make the game and then tried escaping in a rocket, then crashed in to a flying Dr Crygor and lost all the money). Also quote from Wario from WW: Touched! talking about the NDS. Wario: And with two screens, I'll rake in double the money! Also he did steal the Form Baton in WW:SM.

Like I said, Wario is Wario, no matter what anyone thinks.

Add in another: His stunned animation looks like his dizzy animation from the Wario Land games:

If Link can have two forms to represent Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, then Wario can.

If Link can have two forms to represent Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, then Wario can. Apples to Oranges, WW Link ≠ TP Link. Though I agree, they could go a whole 'nother step and have some characters with multiple movesets.

Melee had Dr. Mario and Mario even though they were the same person and had Link and Young Link even though they were the same person. Brawl has Samus and Zero Suit Samus and they are the same person. Okay, maybe Link and Toon Link wasn't the appropriate example but you cannot deny that Samus and Zero Suit Samus are the same person with two movesets. Even though Link and Toon Link are two different people, Brawl managed to represent the two differing directions Nintendo is taking the Zelda franchise with currently - the realistic Zelda games (TP) and the cartoony Zelda games (TWW, PH, TMC).
What happened with Wario in Brawl was just sloppy. Haven't anyone noticed that Wario's overalls aren't as detailed as Mario, Luigi, and even Waluigi? Why is that? Could it be because it was a last-minute addition in order to try to please the Wario Land fans? I think so.

I don't really see how that would make his frame by frame movement a reference to that. It's closer to his stun animation- he's the only character that moves during his, AFAIK.

Samus / ZSS ARE THE SAME FUCKING CHARACTER EVEN WITHIN SMASH BROS. One becomes the other one. Wario doesn't 'become' WarioWare Wario or WarioLand Wario, he's just fucking Wario. His overalls clearly aren't indeed to be denim like the other's are. They're more like spandex or something. Damn, we're back to the stupids again.

I'm not saying Wario should have a move that lets him transform into Classic Wario. I'm saying Wario should get a Wario Land-based moveset when you decide to play with Wario in overalls, hence the name "Classic Wario". (Kinda like how "Toon Link" is really just regular Link in TWW's art style.) That's to show the player which Wario they are playing as when selecting Wario. Its two separate characters with two different movesets that do not let them transform from one into the other even though they are the same person. Want to play as WarioWare Wario? Just pick the Wario in the biker outfit. Want to play as Wario Land Wario? Just choose Wario in overalls. Two Warios are occupying the same square in the character select screen like how Zelda and Sheik occupy the same square in Brawl. I don't see how this concept is so hard to understand.

I agree with the sentiment that there is no reason for two playable Wario characters. I also however dislike the moveset Wario was given, since it did seem to be focused more on his WarioWare games rather than his more richer background. I'd propose that in the next iteration that he simply get an updated moveset. Wario is the kind of guy who should be throwing his weight around, not biting people. Let him use some of his Wario World attacks for his grab moves, as well as incorporate some of his hardcore shake action from Shake It. I'd argue that there's not a whole lot of room for his various powerups though. The idea of Puffy Wario as his flying move is a little silly, in my opinion. Really Wario just needs to be updated to showcase his more brutal side and less of his goofy side. It's true that he might be gross and absurd, but he's never like that in a fight. He saves that for when he's at home lounging around.
