crazy stuff. But it brings up a few questions. Should Smash take a radical turn, and can it even do that. Also, would making a Smash game with a few new modes and characters be OK? Source

I want new concepts but give me my damn second F-Zero character. And Ridley. They WILL make up a sequel.
But yeah, not just characters will do it. I say throw in stat choices for characters.

Three letters Sakurai...D-L-C! Instead of making a new game, add your trimmed-out content onto Brawl! I would love to know which characters didn't make it. By the way, great find Smashchu.

In a miracle world, Nintendo will announce a Wii Harddrive at the upcoming E3. They will then speak to Sakurai and gather the Brawl team back up so they can work on the content they just couldn't finish (Mewtwo, Roy, Tetra...additional stages, game modes, trophies, stickers, songs, custom stage parts, et cetera), and this will continue to happen over the course of the next few years until Nintendo finally decides to move on to the development of a new Smash Bros. game altogether.
But only in a miracle world.
39 characters...well, there's 35 base characters. Shiek, Zero Suit Samus, and Pokémon Trainer being made up of Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard...yeah, 39.

Atleast we know who most of the other playable characters would end up being with the Dr. Mario data etc.
Smash is fine as it is though, if they'd radically change it like Mariokart -> Mariokart Double Dash people will only complain. Then again a new stock mode where you select mutliple characters you fight with after the other one got KO'd is something I expected in Brawl and would be pretty fun.

All they need is DLC @ E3. I will gladly spend upwards of $20 for a handful more characters and stages. Even at this point adding content via download is completely feasible. Or a patch for the god awful online. They fixed it for Mario Kart...

if they'd radically change it like Mariokart -> Mariokart Double Dash Except the change from MK64 to MKDD wasn't all that drastic to begin with. Sure, you could carry two weapons at a time and screw-over items happened far more frequently, but in the end it was still the same Mario Kart formula. Knowing Sakurai, any change to Smash Bros. would be at a very conceptual level, reworking the entire thing from the ground up; for all we know, it might not even come in the form of a fighting game. It could be that awesome Nintendo Crossover RPG you all want so hardcore, or a Nintendo Crossover platformer.
But yeah, people would complain about it even if it wasn't that bad. People are generally unhappy unless they have something to bitch about to begin with.

A Nintendo Wai Wai World would be kinda cool. You know, a little bit of each character's game combined into one. One minute you'd be stomping Goombas, the next minute you're in a dungeon looking for an important item, and after that you're shooting down enemy ships in an Arwing.

They might as well make everybody happy and just mention "we're making SSB4..sometime" at E3. That would alleviate a lot of stress.
Of course, DLC would do the same thing... Can you tell I'm really banking on that happening? >.<

I think a lot of us were just basking in the onslaught of Brawl Hype for so long that we grew accustomed to the sensation XD me, I think I'm good for now, though. If I spend every waking moment of my life like that, I'll probably go crazy; it's nice to live through once every seven years, but that's enough. XD

I would want to rework the series too much. If it ain't broke don't fix it! Yeah you can ADD some brand new stuff but don't change the formula everyone loves...

Personally, I don't think Sakurai should make SSB4. I think Super Smash Bros could do with a new master. Also, I don't think DLC will appear for Super Smash Bros. or Mario Kart beyond what is already there. Those games have the Blue Wifi Connection Logo, while the logo for 'additional paid services' is the Orange Wifi Connection Pay & Play logo, which includes paid DLC. Nintendo makes it a point to make sure online support doesn't hurt their reputation, hence the Friend Codes and the warning that one will have to pay money for additional services in Pay & Play games.
If Brawl was reissued with the Pay & Play Orange Logo, then I would expect DLC for it, but until then...

The game was developed prior to the unveiling of said games and, furthermore, it's such a huge title there's no stopping them from doing DLC.

Except it's not Nintendo's official policy. Maybe perhaps free DLC, but not paid DLC. Orange Wifi logo indicates paid services like that. THAT'S Nintendo's official policy.

Who said you ever had to pay for the DLC?
