Question for Parrothead:
How come you always separate the last item on your list from the rest with "AND"?
For the record, your shooter idea reminds me of a Mario version of Gradius I came up that was supposed to be a retelling of the plot of SML1.

DeMille needs a chance of returning, like Takamaru. Or a chance of more popularity. AT at the very least with the fact Sakurai wants to add more notable characters and not focusing on just adding some. Lot more deserve to be in than him, should be played fair.
...
By playing fair I mean give me a second F-Zero character.
But seriously, I'd love to see Ridley. A true second Metroid character and a chance to play as him... it'd be a dream.

Agree with Dasher Misire
What I think would be a cool idea is to add Little Mac and Takamaru. Hey, they are the last two Disk System guys left.

Except Little Mac wasn't on the Disk System, and you're forgetting all of the adventure game characters. Fight on Gokuu!

One problem. What abilities do Donbe and Hikari have besides "Change Character" and "Speak"?
Better yet, what about all their partners?

I just think that, by this point, Takamaru and Little Mac are the last two "forgotten heroes" who were fairly popular enough to warrant a comeback. Pit, Samus, Ness, etc. were all in that boat themselves, and if you consider the kind of careers and popularity they had it's all on par with Little Mac and Takamaru.
Other than that, I'm sure the game will be chock-full of secondary characters like K. Rool, Dixie, Krystal, and Waluigi.

Fight on Gokuu! nindb.classicgaming.gamespy.com/hvc-pt.shtmlThe site says "Disk" so I assumed it was for the Disk System. Also, I don't think those characters are fighter (although that was probably the joke).

According to the box art, Goku can fight: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Yuyuki_boxarts.PNGAnd why shouldn't they other ones fight as well, even if they aren't "fighters" in their respective games? Everything is possible in the world of Smash Bros.

Momotarou's 3 special abilities in that TV Dream fighting game are summoning one of his three animal companions, they could probably do the same if they really wanted to make Donbe playable. Still seems very unlikely to me though.

Everything is possible in the world of Smash Bros. I assumed that it was a text adventure game with how Fry mentioned it. If that's the case, i want my Animal Crossing character. Smash really is a vicious cycle. We have plenty of characters yet I still want more.

It is a text adventure. You don't do any real fighting in the game. You just talk and change characters.

If that's the case, i want my Animal Crossing character. Smash really is a vicious cycle. We have plenty of characters yet I still want more. Actually people want the best of characters. Y'see when SSB64 came out nobody wanted anymore than what was there. Why? Because they had gathered the best of characters. It was so very balanced in its selection. But when Melee rolled in we got some new characters which opened up a can of "well if this guy got in, why can't that guy get in?" Y'see it's all decided on the characters psychological weight on a fan's mind. Certain characters weigh more than others and when a lighter character gets in, another lighter character must be put in to compensate for that other one. For example: The inclusion of Ice Climbers had a lighter psi-weight of due to them being a one-show franchise. This needed to be compensated with an equal weighted character like Pit who's long forgotten franchise puts him in the same category as the Ice Climbers.

I don't want the next Smash Bros. to be all a bunch of "Waluigis." There's plenty of opportunities for fresher and more original characters, even if they were just one-shots.

I agree with Flip, because major characters from minor games or series are greater than minor characters from major games or series.
