Progress report: The Melee trophies and SSB64 profiles are complete, and I have all the images and descriptions for Brawl - they just need to be arranged. I'm taking some liberties with the categorisation and "order". I forgot how many trophies there were
Also, does anyone have an accurate list of the games each trophy comes from in the U.S. version of the game? I've found a couple of highly inaccurate sources (and mine's PAL).
No, I don't think that's far-fetched at all, and I'll mention that in the error.
I think unless it directly contradicts something in the games (which this doesn't) then it's not worth adding. There were quite a few "where did he pluck that from" moments in Melee as well - but I'm going to let them slide.
Unless they become "common knowledge" and need dispelling. Like Mach Rider's Quadrunners. Seriously... they have THREE wheels, people!
The Kirby storyline has been retconned through the anime series (which Sakurai was also involved with), and this has bled back into the later games. Although the new story never seems to directly contradict anything in the games... after all, the original Kirby's Dream Land story said nothing about Kirby's residential status.
Yep, and I mentioned that in my original post, and said "what else?"
Where? Citation needed!
The ability is in the game - the microphone even appears in Kirby's Dream Land as an item. The image of Kirby screaming into a microphone is also his ability graphic. But unless he means Paint Stroller's mini microphones... I don't know...
Huh. I'm wondering if there's any more like this, where the American translation changes are ignored in favour of the original Japanese.
Here's some more I've stolen from SmashWiki... but have yet to confirm. My comments in brackets.
LynOn the Lyn trophy, it says that she is 15-years old. In the English Fire Emblem, she's 18-years old, and in the Japanese version, she's 15. This has been corrected in the PAL version.
(I remember this brouhaha when Fire Emblem came out.)
AryllOn the Aryll trophy, the description says she has a "Turtle marked Telescope." Her telescope is actually seagull-marked. This has been corrected in the PAL version.
(See? PAL version is always better).
Dark Knight(Same as Leon's post above...)
Dark SamusOn the Dark Samus trophy, the description says, "There are many theories on the origin of Dark Samus, but none are proven." This is not true, because the secret cutscene in Metroid Prime reveals that Dark Samus came from a fusion of Samus' Phazon suit and Metroid Prime's remains.
(True enough - I will include this one)
Samus (Dark Suit)On the Samus (Dark Suit) trophy, the description says "after defeating Amorbis in the Dark Torvus Temple," when it is actually the Dark Agon Temple, in Metroid Prime 2.
(Can anyone confirm?)
Super DragonYoshi's saddle is missing in the Super Dragon trophy.
(Is it? Maybe that's not an error. Does he have a saddle during his actual Final Smash?)
Cardboard BoxThe Cardboard Box trophy mentions Liquid Snake have interests with the box along with Solid Snake. Although he never was seen using the box in the Metal Gear games, his "father" (Big Boss) has.
(Can anyone confirm?)
ShadowOn Shadow's trophy, it says he first appeared in Sonic Heroes when it was really Sonic Adventure 2.
(True dat - I think there's a few more "first game" errors as well.)
Final Smash trophies(As I mentioned on the previous page - not sure this is worth mentioning - also, does anyone know why only Sonic's Final Smash credits the game it's from?)
PitThe Pit Trophy states that he only appeared in Kid Icarus. He actually appeared in another Kid Icarus game: Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. This has been corrected in the PAL version.
(I'll double-check this... I didn't think this was corrected in the PAL version. Although the game credits seem to be debut + one random game - and sometimes this is ignored).
HelirinThe Helirin's trophy states that Kuru Kuru Kururin was released in Japan only, whereas it was also released in Europe. It also states that Kuru Kuru Kururin is the only game that it appeard in, when it also appeard in Kururin Paradise an Kururin Squash!. These errors have been fixed in the PAL version.
(Yup, although I'll double-check this. Don't think the game-appearances are worth mentioning though).
Lugia / Ho-ohThe Lugia and Ho-Oh trophy state that their last appearance was in Pokémon Crystal when they were important Pokémon in Pokémon Colosseum (Ho-Oh) and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness (Lugia).
(It's NOT a last-appearance! It's just a random game)
Paper Mario/Luigi/Peach/BowserPaper Mario, Paper Luigi, Paper Peach, and Paper Bowser are all stated to have only been in Super Paper Mario, despite there being two Paper Mario titles before this, and these 4 characters have been in both of those games. The models, however, were in Super Paper Mario.
(Yeah, worth mentioning methinks.
ShellcreeperThe ShellCreeper trophy states it's most recent appearance was in Super Mario Advance but in that game, the ShellCreeper was replaced by the Spiny.
(Agreed!)
Warrior Mech GaussIn the PAL version, Warrior Mech Gauss is renamed Warrior Mech Gust in the title, yet still is called 'Gauss' in the description.
(...I'm not entirely sure it HAS been renamed... Also, I wonder if that means we're getting a translation of the game!)
