Tactics would make an excellent movie. The story is so awesome, I don't know why it hasn't been made yet! Problem 2: The character of "Link", if handled correctly, would not speak. Again, this makes dialogue a problem. Scratch that, speech is fine. You guys ever watch Samurai Jack? That's how they should handle Link talking. Small statements on occasion.

Zelda manga handled OOT's wandering around very well. And gave Link a good personality if he was to talk a lot.

All I'm gonna say is that if someone made another Mario Bros. film, it would be infinitely better that the one that already exists! ;D
And, I hope to God that no one makes a movie out of the Phoenix Wright games! (although there are possible rumours of a PW anime)

But it's an anime, not live action. And yes, it's definitely better than that American thing and MUCH closer to the games. Super Mario Bros.: Peach-Hime Kyushutsu Dai Sakusen! Most recently I had this idea that's just crazy enough to work: If there were an Earthbound movie, it should be animated in stop motion and directed by Tim Burton. Perfect combination there. I'd rather see either the Wallace & Gromit creator or the creator of the Gumby and Davey & Goliath clay animations work on the MOTHER/EarthBound series. Why? Because the promotional artworks are made of clay and clay animation would fit the style of the MOTHER/EarthBound series.

The technique is called stop motion. That's the same reason I had the idea I did. I just figured that Earthbound was already weird, and Tim Burton has a handle on wierd things.
I mean, look at Onett and tell me it doesn't resemble the Stepford-esque suburb from Edward Scissorhands. Look at the game's enemies!
Hell, I'll bet if it were a movie based on MOTHER 1, it would be even more suited to Tim Burton's styling. He could bring Giygas's character to the screen seamlessly.
All you'd have to do is make him play the game from beginning to end. I think he'd like it.

Tim Burton is too dark for the MOTHER/EarthBound series. Also, the MOTHER/EarthBound series is more odd than Tim Burton's films like Big Fish, Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. I believe it would be better to have a Japanese anime director directing the film, with the help from either Nick Park or Art Clokey. CGI is becoming boring now.

Are you sure, Parrot? James and the Giant Peach was one of Burton's more lighthearted films, and it was because of that that I thought he'd make a good director.
If you really think Earthbound isn't dark, than what about the final battle in MOTHER 2, or the entire storyline of MOTHER 3?

The last thing we need is an anime movie based on a video game. It would never reach states (Animal Crossing movie is an example).
Plus, they'd add some stupid cliches like, oh I don't know. Poo becomes real perverted, Paula will carry a giant hammer, and Ness will become emo and silent.
I still think Pixar would be able to handle an Earthbound movie real well. Have any of you seen Wall-E? The animation was extremely realistic, but still a cartoon...

Claymation is definitely more suited to Earthbound. However, Pixar could handle a DKC movie rather well...

I think a Donkey Kong movie would be better live action.

Your idea is even worse. A musical? Come ON... My apologies to Parrrothead.

The last thing we need is an anime movie based on a video game. It would never reach states (Animal Crossing movie is an example). What about Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie, Fire Emblem, and most of the Pokémon films? It's not impossible. I really would like to see a new anime film or series based on the Mario games. With the Mario RPGs, there is also stuff with more complex story lines the anime could be based on. But I would also be happy if the old Mario anime from 1986 would get localized (but not by one of those westernizing-obsessed American companies, please).

The first Pokemon movie was good, I guess in my childhood standards, but I've never even heard of a Sonic the Hedgehog movie!
