Well since Pikmin is confirmed, might as well start a discussion!
So how do you think the Wii controls are going to be used here? What you'te hoping to see?
Let the speculation begin!

Well, one of the most annoying things about Pikmin 2 was that when you wanted to take small groups with you in caves, it was difficult to separate them (and then they'd all get mixed up anyway). Hopefully the Wii controls will be used to make splitting your groups and directing them much easier.
That could also open up a more specific puzzle dynamic, by hand-picking specific teams of Pikmin for missions.
The cave idea was great, but I really think there needs to be more of an integration of that mechanic throughout the whole game. Kinda like how the "zones" in Sunshine became a whole game in Galaxy... something along those lines would be great.

I am a big fan of Pikmin 2, mostly for replay value. It was amazing when it came out. What I'm hoping for in Pikmin 3 is being able to direct your pikmin without having to have a leader, like with the Wii controller. And I liked the 'Piklopedia' encyclopedia of defeated animals. Hope that stays. God, I sound like such a fanboy.

I've never played a single Pikmin game. I'm going out this weekend with some friends, hopefully I'll get it then...
*ahem*
Anyways, I'm looking forward to this game.

The first one is very good, so I definitely anticipate 3, even though I have yet to play 2.

I really like the first one, with it's daily race against time and the possibility of a bad ending if you were a slowpoke. Pikmin 2.... not as much. Seemed to be all about boring caves where there's no time limit. Hope there's only a few of those in the third one.

I've never actually had that problem for some reason.... Anyway, I'd prefer the control scheme to remain the same as the previous two games, just because I think that it would work better than any Wiimote/Nunchuck combo (this game needs analogue control). What I'm worried about is how they are going to justify the game this time around, without repeating the 'story' from the first two games.

No, it [glow=red,2,300]needs[/glow] to use the pointer, considering the pointer was surely made for these types of games.
Pikmin 1 bored me. Pikmin 2 I enjoyed a bit more, but still didn't excite me too much. I'll pass on a 3rd.

Yeah, strategy games need a pointer-clicker type of movement. A cool way to play would be having Olimar in his ship, orbiting Earth and controlling the Pikmin from there, with some kind of Wiimote device.

Anyone else think that Pikmin would actually be better on the DS than the Wii?
Flicking Pikmin with your stylus, taping on objects you want Pimin to pick up, plucking Pikmin from the ground etc. Seem great for touch control.

The idea of seeing the world from the view of an ant is done better on a TV screen.

Its a top down view. "Bird's-eye-view" that Pikmin games are done. It could be easily done on the DS.
Tap the areas on the ground you want Olimar to walk to.

I honestly think the DS could handle it well too, though the Wii does just as well. They should just make a Pikmin DS or something of that sort.

I could imagine using two hands to direct two different groups of Pikmin doing two different tasks at the same time. The possibilities are endless.
