Nintendo doesn't like 4Kids. They don't use what 4Kids uses. If anyone played F-Zero GP legend they'd know that. (Hell, I never played it but I'm aware Nintendo changed the names of what 4Kids wouldn't allow, or used the Japanese names. Ms. Killer isn't Luna Ryder, ugh)
They won't use Fololo and Folala. And if they were going to, they're using the SNES game text so it's impossible.

In 4Kids dub-based European dubs of the Kirby anime (I don't know whether all of them) Sword Knight and Blade Knight were renamed "Edge Knight and Sharp Knight". And these names made it into European versions of the Kirby games (not the English-language ones, though).

Seeing as we didn't get the anime... no huge surprise there

But the names "Ash" and "Gary " are selectable names in western versions of Pokémon Red/Blue, not "Satoshi" and "Shigeru". Or did NoA name the Pokémon anime characters? Anyway, when Nintendo doesn't like 4Kids, why did 4Kids get the rights for editing several anime series based on Nintendo games?

Over time, 4Kids' quality went down I guess. 4Kids failed to do Kirby and F-Zero properly, so they had a falling out with them.

4kids confirmed themselves that they did not care about the games which they originated from, so they changed things like there were no evidence of such a franchise before them.

NoA was trying really hard to get 4Kids to pay attention and use names from the proper games and original language for F-Zero and Kirby. It's been said multiple times. And as for 4Kids not caring, it's really obvious.
And yeah, Ash and Gary are in because the dubbing was on good terms for a while. And it was actually GOOD for a year or two. I remember when the names for each Pokemon episode weren't puns, but damn close to the original names.

But they took out so many episodes, I couldn't keep track of what was going on anymore.

(Oddly enough, the Pokemon anime has the Guiness world record for "TV show that caused the most seizures").
