Yeah, I'm making one too. But thing you guys gotta realize is that I have a much different thought process when it comes to making games. Before I give you some of my game ideas, I'm going to go over some of my game philosophies.
Here are my philosophies...
ON GAMEPLAY First off I try to come up with a simple but unique gameplay basis before anything. The best kind of games are simple to handle but challenge the players imagination and resource. You shouldn't have the player inputting a million different button commands... It's better if you keep the controls simple but make everything else a challenge. Another important element in gaming today is freedom. The more freedom a player has to solve the challenge in the way he/she wants, the better. But here's something you don't always see, a game that learns from the players choices! Yes, enemies that learn how you play and adapt to that, thus making the challenge greater. Or what about a game that realizes what the player does to accomplish a task or beat a level, then modifies itself slightly to exploit your weaknesses.
ON MAPS/ LEVELS I'd like to see maps that don't waste space. I've seen games that have ENORMOUS levels with nothing in them. Don't get me wrong, I like wide open spaces but I believe that those spaces shouldn't be wasted on pure travel. Every spot should have something to do. Enemies to fight, things to collect, etc. Also it couldn't hurt to have maps that make sense. This isn't important I know, but when dealing with more realistic looking games I think the environment should be better plotted. What I mean is that there are games where you are traveling through a grassland and suddenly its a snowy area! It isn't realistic that such different environments border each other. I think they should stick in between a transition terrain that has elements of the two areas that border.
Okay on to the actual games. I'm sure you don't care to hear my original ideas so I'm going to talk about fan ideas. Here I go:
YOSHI'S WORLD WII: Adventure/ Platformer
Too long has Yoshi been tied to the Mario series. Never able to break off like Wario was. Well not anymore. Yoshi is finally in a full fledged 3D adventure game with his own characters, friends, and foes.
GAMEPLAY: The game is an actual 3D platformer using the Wii remote and Nunchuck to guide Yoshi around a wonderful new world. The gameplay consists of Yoshi getting to the goal while finding and rescuing all the other Yoshis from their egg prisons. Along the way you can collect 50 red coins and five imprisoned Yoshis to get 100%
Yoshi doesn't have a baby to take care of, nor does he have health. Instead he has a stomach meter (similar to Mario Sunshine) that slowly depletes until he eats something.
Being hurt by an enemy doesn't shrink the meter, instead it increases the speed at which the stomach meter depletes. Depending on how many times Yoshi was hit by an enemy, will decide on how quickly he'll need a snack. Eating an enemy will fill his stomach but will not decrease speed of depletion, instead eating a fruit will restore stomach status to a normal and full belly.
When your meter runs low, stomach noises will be made and you're status will show up from "FULL" to "HUNGRY" You lose a life if the meter runs out.
STORY: When Yoshi's Island was stripped of all its fruit and sucked into a strange vortex, all the yoshis went into the vortex to seek their stolen fruit. They were then cursed by a mysterious foe (NOT BOWSER this is Yoshi's game) and forced into their eggs. Same with our hero Yoshi except a wonderful sprite rescued him from his egg. Now with the help of a new friend, Yoshi embarks on a journey to rescue his friends, get back the fruit, and defeat the mysterious foe.
CONTROLS: Yoshi walks runs and jumps with the Nunchuck. Use the C button to jump and the Z button to ground-pound and duck/ crawl.
The pointer will direct where Yoshi is looking at. Press the A button and Yoshi will lick to wherever the pointer is! If you're pointing at an enemy or fruit, his tongue will aim there and lick it up. The B button works the same except Yoshi will shoot his eggs instead. Point at an enemy and press B to shoot an egg. That's all there is to it!
EXTRAS: -There will be a bonus at the end of each level, depending on how many Yoshis you rescued will determine how easy it will be to get the bonus (just like the flowers in Yoshi's Island) -If you get a high enough score in all the levels in a world, you'll unlock an extra level. -If you save all the Yoshis when you beat the game, you'll get to meet the secret final boss (I love those don't you?) -Poochy returns as a helpful ride! -This game will feature completely new enemies that aren't from any Mario game.
I'll post more games soon enough!

I am so sorry to double post. But I have another game to share.
WARIO UNLIMITED WII: Adventure
Imagine a game where you are an unstoppable force that can lift, destroy, smash and bash almost anything or anyone to get riches galore! Well Wario will show you once again why being bad is so good!
GAMEPLAY: An adventure using the Nunchuck. Wario is determined to explore one full enormous 3D world and do whatever in his power to to find all the riches hiding in it. The game is all about competing against several rival treasure hunters in getting treasure. Simple as that. The game does not have any levels to complete as much as there are hundreds of treasures to find in various environments
Wario is invincible he can only lose money when hurt, but he can't die! Like an unstoppable force, Wario does not have to worry about enemies killing him as much as he has to worry about them getting in the way. All the rivals are (at the same time) exploring areas locating treasure. Find it before they do! if they get it before you do you'll have to fight them for it, if you lose, you lose some of your treasure.
The most notable feature in this game is the fact that the player is allowed to use any means necessary to get the riches. The player has the freedom to do many different things just for one treasure. And because the environment is destructible expect the player to pull some pretty nasty stunts to get what they want.
EXTRAS: -Gather information from locals, friends and foes to find out about what's the hot new item to collect. -You can pummel anyone and steal their money. -Make friends. Help them for rewards. Or abuse them! -Pick up and destroy nearly ANYTHING. From simple objects to entire buildings if you can get away with it. -You can get thrown in jail, and have to pay a fine. -Citizens will react to your actions try to rebuild your damage. -Meet classic Wario Land enemies and characters as well as Wario Ware characters. -Ride your bike, car, or airplane to get across the world. If they get damaged, you'll have to pay money to have them repaired.
STORY: Wario is living the good life. With mountains of cash and a very successful game company, no one out there can compare to the guy. That is until a letter comes in: someone has challenged Wario to a treasure hunt. The writer claim to be the new treasure master, and Wario is old stuff. Wario is hopping mad and sets out to find who gave him the letter. While seeking out the jerk, he finds out that there is a new treasure craze going on and a whole bounty of gold and jewels are emerging. Word on the street is that new hunters are going after it all. What will Wario do next? Why is treasure appearing everywhere? Who's the idiot who dares to challenge Wario? Find out in WARIO UNLIMITED!

Very sick ideas. I love the ingenuity in controls, too.
Btw, will the Yoshi game at least have Shy Guys? :<

Yeah, I feel Shy Guys lean more twards Yoshi anyway since they don't appear in any Mario platformer besides SMB2. And there hasn't been a Yoshi game without them anyway.
So I'd say Shy Guys, Goonies, Bandits, and more can return. But Koopa Troopas, Goombas and Piranha Plants will go.

A Wario game where you can't die, but won't get boring? Excelent ideas.

Ah! No Waluigi in the Wario game? Preposterous! Good that you worked in WarioWare characters into it. But what will they do? What other kinds of characters are in the Yoshi game? It can't be Yoshi without Shy Guys or anything. Maybe you can include Birdo into this game, too. Just a thought. I do wonder who that mysterious villain will be. Wait and see?

Ah! No Waluigi in the Wario game? Preposterous! Good that you worked in WarioWare characters into it. But what will they do? Actually I plan on having Waluigi in the game... Heheheh. Spoilers: He's actually the one who sent Wario the letter. The Wario Ware characters are the friends you can help or abuse. What other kinds of characters are in the Yoshi game? It can't be Yoshi without Shy Guys or anything. Maybe you can include Birdo into this game, too. Just a thought. I do wonder who that mysterious villain will be. Wait and see? Shy Guys will be in it as they are not associated with Mario as much as they are with Yoshi, unlike Koopas and Piranha plants which will be gone. As for the mysterious villain... Well he might not be that villainous afterall. Spoilers: He's actually a powerful child entity who was just hungry. But when the Yoshi's came into his realm his father planned to eat them. So the child turned them into eggs to protect them from his father, who is the REAL final boss.Anyway I gots a new game for ya: PIKMIN FRONTIERWII: MMO! Olimar's riches and success from his adventures became wildly known on his home planet. Now everyone wants in on the action! People are now pioneers are now flying to that distant planet to colonize and get rich. Create your own explorer, make a base and collect treasure in this grand online world! GAMEPLAY: When you first land on the planet you'll be poor with a small shack. But as you make your Pikmin army and collect items, you can build a bigger home, make a Pikmin farm etc. Defeat enemies and bring them back to the home for your food, to sell, or make more Pikmin. You can interact with other pioneers in this fully interactive MMO, assist them on quests for treasure, trade items, or even invade their home and steal their items! Just be sure to keep some Pikmin on gaurd at your home so they don't steal from you! There's tons of dungeons and areas to explore as you cultivate the land and mae a new world for you and other explorers! The game plays the same as other Pikmin games only utilizing the Wii remote and nunchuck.

Oh god sorry to super duper bump a dead topic here but I just got an awesome new idea for a Mario game.
What if Mario and Wario were stuck together? No, literally STUCK together. Oh how terrible... But how interesting. Mario and Wario are stuck with a rubber sticky goo that won't come off. The two rivals will have to settle their differences and hone their skills to find a way out of this mess while defeating the evil enemy that's caused this mess.
Mario and Wario can use their predicament to their advantage however. Imagine the goo that holds them together can stretch. Wario can fling Mario to high ledges then the goo will pull himself up to Mario. Or, the two can stretch the goo like a slingshot and send charging enemies flying backwards. Wow, the wacky possibilities!
Think how funny it would be to the them flick and pull and struggle to get along. I got the idea from those cartoons were two characters are handcuffed together, throughout the episode they try to do things in normal society while being stuck. I thought about what that would be like as a video game. What challenges would these two characters have to face? How would you control two characters in such a situation?
I figure the game could be a traditional platform game, but with such an unusual set up, puzzles are necessary. Try to think of a 3D Mario VS Donkey Kong game. With Wario tagging along, Mario won't be able to do his action platforming that we're all familiar with.
I still have no idea where else to go, but I love the idea so much, I had to post it.

Actually this game idea sounds was used as a concept in the unreleased (but avalible as a ROM) game Sonic Crackers (also known as Sonic Studium, here's video.) which was a tech demo for the game Knuckles' Chaotix which would end up getting released. But then again you idea don't invlove running at really fast speeds now does it? So it still has originality in terms of gameplay.

Sorry to double post but I have a new game idea that will unite classic Sonic fans and modern ones together.
It's SONIC SUPER WORLD Its infact an MMO Sonic game that is a classic 2D platformer with Genesis graphics! I got the idea when playing co-op Sonic 3 with a friend, and I thought how fun it would be to team up with people from around the world, dashing, climbing, and flying around 2D worlds.
-Imagine helping your grounded friends fly up by giving a ride like Sonic and Tails, or smashing tunnels as a power characters to assist a speedy type zoom through! Destroying classic badniks and new Eggbots, in a large platforming MMO adaptations of classic Genesis Zones.
-Yes you can create your own character, type, race, with hundreds of easy customization options, because its Genesis style. This will most likely make all those people with fan characters squeel with joy.
-The gameplay copies from the Genesis Sonic games but also includes a few new abilities from the Advanced games. (Like grinding)
The speed isn't crazy fast, but at the pace you would go in old Sonic games, like slow down to hit a switch, or hop carefully over lava pits, or even wait patiently for a floating platform to arrive.
Those old-school Sonic element will make classic Sonic fans very happy.

How about controlling the speed? I liked Sonic advanced 2 the best out of all Sonic for it's speed, and even the old school ones had breakneck speed.

I'm bumping this topic to finally share with you my ultimate Mario game...
SUPER MARIO SUPERSTARS
This game is just like all the classic side scrolling Mario game. The game however has three times the levels of Super Mario World! The game is very story based but the story DOES NOT interrupt the basic game. You'll only see cutscenes in between each World and before and after each main Boss.
You can also play as one of six characters! Each has their own stats like in SMB2 and their own ability (like Peach can float with her parasol). You can select these characters at the beginning of each level. The game runs on a health system. You start out with three hearts but you get more by earning Star Shrooms. You can find mushrooms which will restore one heart or a Max Shroom which will recover them all. There are many power-ups and transformations in the game like Fire Flowers. Each transformation may work differently on different characters. Like Fire Mario will shoot a bouncing fireball but Fire Yoshi will breath a jet of fire. If you get hit while in a powered-up form you won't lose a heart but you will lose the power-up.To beat a level by reaching the goal. The goal will have you do different things depending on the world you're in. You'll either grab a flagpole, jump through a hoop, and others. You can earn extra coins or 1UPs if you do it right.
STORY PART 1: You start out at Mario's house. Luigi is actually gone vacationing at Sarasaland, so things seem pretty dull until a Toad arrives outside Mario house screaming for help! Guide Mario out of his house and talk to the Toad. "Oh its terrible Princess Peach has been captured again! But its worse than that! Come to the castle immediately!" And so Mario's new quest begins! But is it just like the other ones? Hmm... More on that later!
MAPS: You can select various Kingdoms. Mushroom Kingdom is the only one available in the beginning but you'll gain access to more later in the game. Kingdoms will include the Bean Bean Kingdom, Sarasaland, Yoshi's Island and more! Each Kingdom is set up just like the world maps in Super Mario Bros 3. However there are a lot more places to go to this time, like houses to visit, shops, castles, and more.
LEVELS: Like SMB3, you stop at levels on the map to proceed through the game. Like SMW there may be branching paths that lead to secret areas. Unlike SMW you will be able to see all the regular levels on the the map instead of having to beat one to make the next visible (just like SMB3) However secret levels are still invisible. In between each level there may be a house to visit, a shop, or castle. Among levels there four types: overworld, underworld/underwater, fortress, and a ghost house.
SHOPS: Shops appear on the map just like Toad Houses did in SMB3. Only the items aren't free this time. You'll have to pay for them with the coins you collect in levels. The items you can use before levels like SMB3 or you can even have access to them during the level on your PAUSE screen! You won't be able to buy an item multiple times a day because they run out of stock. Wait until tomorrow and you can repurchase the item again. You can however purchase multiple 1UP Mushrooms. This is good because collecting 100 coins in a level no longer gives you a 1UP.
HOUSES: Visit various familiar characters from Mario's games. Talk to these guys and either hear about secret tips, gossip, or they may ask you for some help. A character may request that you find a certain item in a level you already beaten, or they may ask you to defeat a certain enemy in a previous level. They'll either reward you with coins, a rare item, or a Card. Inside their homes they usually have an item block as well, so take advantage of that too. You don't have to visit these people to progress through the game.
CASTLES/ VILLAGES: This is were the story parts take place. A character must visit this area to hear about the progress of the story. You may get a special item, a health boost or access to the boss. Their may be a special mission you need to beat as well. Castles/ Villages also hold banks for storing money and items.
STORY PART 2: After going through a few levels and making a few stops, Mario finally reaches the Castle. Toad will tell you to speak to Toadsworth. "Oh Master Mario! The Princess is captured by some kind of spider! I say! Quite a fiendish thing it was! I tried to rustle it up, but it was no good! The spider was headed to Bowser's Castle! Hurry, you must save the Princess!
DAY/ NIGHT SYSTEM: The maps actually change every time you beat/ lose a level or visit a location. They change from day to night! The levels and locations will have slight differences, for example, shops are closed at night. You may only have access to certain levels depending on if its night or day too, like Ghost Houses. Different enemies may appear or disappear on the time of day (Piranha Plants are sleeping at night).
CARDS: Like Super Paper Mario, you'll be able to collect cards on all the enemies and characters in the game. These hold information on the character and a personal quote. You get these by finding them in levels or helping certain people. Sometimes they'll be sold at shops. You can look at them on the map or during a level on the PAUSE screen. Can you collect them all?
KINGDOM BOSS: In order to access a new Kingdom, you'll need to defeat the boss. Unlike the mini-bosses found within fortresses, these bosses will be involved with the story. They have their own cutscene and talk to you about what is going on. If you don't beat them they may run away to somewhere on the map. After defeating them report back to the Castle to discuss what's going on.
STORY PART 3: Mario arrives at the first fortress which is actually Bowser's Castle! Bowser is a mini boss? You have to face both Bowser and his son to rescue Peach. After defeating them both a voice appears from the shadows. "You failed me Koopa King!" Its Grodus! Now sporting the body of the Smithy? "There's no place for weakling like you in the new world. I can see now why you have failed so many times." He says. Bowser stands up. "Hey you can't talk to me like that! You were just a stupid head! I gave you Smithy's scraps remember?!" Bowser snaps back. "There's more going on than just you and me Bowser. Only the strongest are allowed to join the army." Grodus replies. A strange black spider appears, it shoots a massive beam that blasts Mario, Peach, Bowser and Bowser Jr. away.
CHARACTERS: Throughout the game you will team up with five other characters along with Mario. Each has their own stats and abilities. On top of that, characters and bosses you can talk to will have something different to say to different characters (like in SM64) You don't have to play as a specific character to beat a level or beat the game, but you will need a specific character's help to find secrets. Characters include:
MARIO JP: 3 SP: 2 Ability: Wall Kick Mario can jump off of Wall by holding against the wall. Ability: Double Jump After landing from the first jump Mario can jump twice the height if he times it just right.
PEACH JP 1 SP 2 Ability: Parasol Peach can float on the air with her parasol. She can also ride gusts of air. Ability: Shield By holding down, Peach can be protected by her parasol.
LUIGI JP:3 SP:2 Ability: Charge Jump By holding down Luigi can charge up and start flashing for a short time. During that time he can do a super high jump. Ability: Flutter Fall Luigi falls slower than the other characters.
YOSHI JP:3 SP:3 Ability: Lick Like SMW Yoshi can lick and spit enemies. However he can't swallow them and make eggs. Ability: Flutter Jump While in mid-air, Yoshi can flutter up for extra hight and distance. However he can't do this multiple time like he can in other games.
WARIO JP:2 SP:1 Ability: Ground Pound Wario can pound through blocks. Ability: Super Strength Wario can break any type of block even item blocks!
DONKEY KONG JP:2 SP:2 Ability: Ground Slap DK can slap the ground and flip all shell wearing enemies upside down that are on the same ground with him. Ability: Super Chuck After throwing or kicking a shell, the shell can break through rows brick blocks instead of breaking and bouncing off of them. However they will still bounce off of item blocks.
STORY PART 4: Mario wakes up back at the castle. It seems that a group of Toads found Mario and Peach unconscious. Peach informs Mario of some terrible news. According to a letter from Daisy it seems the greatest villains and their troops are joining up to form a collosal army, aided by some sort of weird beings. They are slowly conquering the world. Not even Mario can defeat them alone. Peach and Toadsworth discuss this matter. In the mean time Mario receives a message telling him to go see Merlon.
MAIL: Sometimes during the game you can recieve MAIL from various characters and stores. A letter icon will appear over the character's head when he or she has recieved mail. Don't worry, you won't get mail during levels! You can look at your mail while on the map, these messages may inform you when a character has a new request or when a shop has something special for sale. These letters may include items too!
TRAVELERS: Sometimes characters or enemies will appear on the map. Move to the space where they are to meet/ fight them. These characters include: Merchants, Hammer Bros, Chuck Quizmo, and Bowser Jr. (he's searching for his papa)
CHECK POINTS: Levels are very big in this game. Expect two to three check points in each level. They are actually hard to find, hidden in ? Block. If you hit one a flag will pop out and your health will be restored max. If you have full health you'll be given a 1UP.
STORY PART 5: After completing a few more levels Mario makes it to Merlon. Merlon tells Mario of the coming of the Ztars. Merlon explains that Ztars are exactly the opposite of Stars. "Stars get power from people's wishes, hopes, and dreams. In return, the Stars grant our wishes. But if people do not get their wishes granted they may feel hopelessness and dispair. These feeling give the Ztar power. With that power they make sure people's wishes DON'T come true." Merlon explains that the Ztars are very rare and don't cause much trouble, but now their numbers are increasing for some unknown reason. Mario is sleeping through the story. "Only the seven Superstars can stop them, unfortunately I don't know who these Superstars may be!" He says. Merlon is certain that Mario is one of them as he has rescued Stars many times. "Only you and the other Superstars can stop the Ztars!" With that said, Mario heads out to find Grodus.
KINGDOMS: Each world is referred to as a Kingdom. Each Kingdom has their own unique enemies, obstacles, characters, and more. There are eight main Kingdoms you must liberate to beat the game. However there are two secret Kingdoms you can find later too. Here are some of the Kingdoms:
Mushroom Kingdom The most common enemies are Goombas and Koopa Troopas. There aren't a lot of unique hazards in this Kingdom's levels. Some of the characters you may encounter are Toads, Toadsworth, Toadette, Merlon, and Tumble. You get Peach in this Kingdom.
Sarasaland From board walks to ancient pyramids, this is Daisy's Kingdom, filled will many Mario Land 1 & 2 content. Some of the characters you may encounter are Doogans, Kolorado, desert mousers, and Daisy. You get Luigi in this Kingdom ironically.
Yoshi's Island This lush tropical island has many beach and water levels, plus a nice volcanic one! Characters include various Yoshis and Boshi. You get Yoshi on your team here.
Beanbean Kingdom From Mario and Luigi, Beanbean Kingdom is a very moist and broken up land. Includes river rides, giant plateaus, and gloomy swamps. Be sure to see Peasley, Queen Bean, and other citizens. No new characters here... Sorry.
Diamond City This is Wario's city busy with many dangerous city based levels. There will be plenty of classic Wario Land enemies here. You'll meet many Wario Ware characters as well, like Mona and Jimmy. Even Waluigi shows his face... You somehow persuade Wario to join you on your quest.
Donkey Kong Island Deep jungle levels and dangerous mines are what you'll find on DK Ilse. The gems gets really tough here with invisible enemies like Zinger start coming around. Meet up with Diddy, Cranky and other members of the DK crew. Donkey Kong joins up from here.
Dark Lands Bowser's domain and your last stop before the final world. This is a deadly war torn world with barbed wire, lava pits, doomships and tanks. You will encounter some friendly faces though. Vivian and Bow are vacationing here and E.Gadd is conducting research. There will be lots of surprises in this world so look out!
Star World The final destination of the game. I won't go into much detail here but the levels are heavily inspired from Galaxy and Rainbow Road. Expect to meet Rosalina and the star Spirits here. Its the final battle good luck!
The extra two worlds are Isle Delfino and Subcon. Try to find them.
STORY PART 6: After going through a few more levels Mario faces Grodus. By exploiting the weak spot in Smithy's body (the star shaped hole where the seventh star used to be) Mario was able to defeat Grodus and take back the Mushroom Kingdom. Grodus (now just a head again) takes off and runs away. Mario is taken back to the Castle where Peach and Toadworth have come to the conclusion that in order to counteract this evil army, they themselves must form an even greater army by uniting the kingdoms of the world. "As Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, it is my duty to seek out the other leaders and unite our strength." Toadsworth begs Peach to reconsider, but Peach joins your party anyway. Just then Merlon appears he is holding a crystal ball. The ball flashes. "Ah-ha! Just as I suspected! Mario... Peach... You two are Superstars!" Merlon explains that the crystal can find those specially born with stars in their hearts. Merlon gives Mario the Crystal Ball and urges him and Peach to find the other Superstars on their journey.
Peach is not sure what is going on, but Mario agrees to take the ball. "Let's travel to Sarasaland Mario. Daisy and your brother are in a lot of trouble over there. And so the adventure truly begins! Who's behind this evil army? Who are the Superstars? What's going on with the Ztars? Find out in Super Mario Superstars!
