Super Mario Brothers Legend Of Zelda Metroid Megaman Donkey Kong Fire Emblem Kirby EarthBound oh wait... Soryy to nitpick but Kirby actually started out on the original GB not the NES, but the franchise did eventually go to the NES.

I think I've seen an article like this before. It was sort of about the same thing, but probably being remade for the Nintendo DS.
Here are some games and series I wish would continue:
StarTropics / Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II - This should be brought back in a format that helps it become more and more uncomparable to The Legend of Zelda series.
Balloon Fight / Balloon Kid - This series should be brought back not only with the elements of the original Balloon Fight, but also Balloon Kid. Balloon Fight sure was the original, but Balloon Kid has a little bit more features. Also, people are becoming crazy about plots in video games, so why not bring back Alice, Jim and Samm instead of Balloon Fighters?
Mole Mania - As the new Nintendo DSi is out in Japan, and will be heading outside of it while allowing users to download DSiWare, Shigeru Miyamoto should bring this interesting action-puzzle game, because it would look great on the DS screens. Think about it, when you above ground, you are on the Top Screen, and when you are in the ground, you are on the Touch Screen.
Radar Mission - Like Mole Mania, but with more naval-based games to choose from. Imagine the Top Screen showing a periscope, cockpit or tower window view with the Touch Screen showing the commands and a radar.
Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru (For the Frog the Bell Tolls) - Even though this game looks similar to The Legend of Zelda series, it combines action, adventure and RPG elements into one.
Nazo no Murasamejo - Right now, I am picturing it as a 3D game where you rush toward a destination or chase someone or something while avoiding and attacking enemies under a time limit. I'm also picturing it with some random minigames unlike any other like those in Donkey Kong '94 for Game Boy and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (including the picnic one).
Pro Wrestling - If we want a PROfessional wrestling game for those who like wrestling, but aren't very interested in WWE or any other kind of wrestling federation, and if we want a wrestling game with a feature for creating your own wrestlers that is a lot easier and more fun than most other wrestling games, I would suggest Nintendo to bring this series back. Even though it didn't succeed very much, neither did some games that got very successful sequels like the first Street Fighter (not to be confused with the first version of Street Fighter II). This new Pro Wrestling game should be called something ungeneric like "Wii Pro Wrestling" or "DS Pro Wrestling". Calling it "Nintendo Pro Wrestling" sounds good, but it can lead to confusion between the old and new versions.
Battle Clash / Metal Combat - As the WiiWare and DSiWare services are having more and more games being developed and released, there needs to be some great shooting games. Intelligent Systems needs to bring back either a two-in-one remake of Battle Clash and Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge, or a third game in this series. Using rapid-fire for protecting yourself while shooting charged shots is quite fun, especially when you get better at them. There should also be a Wii Scope accessory, which looks similar to the Super Scope, but is lighter and more comfortable to use than the Wii Zapper.
That's about all I can think of right now, but I might add more later.

No, you're on to something there. The states only got an official release for Mother 2. If Nintendo would release some Mother games, I'd be happy, oh so happy.

Basically I'd like NES franchises to re-appear on Wiiware, because it can improve on certain points, like graphics, while sticking to the simple, addicting gameplay titles were known for.
Like Balloon Fighter. Just throw in a 4-player mode (or even better 8, Bomberman Blast style) for good balloon popping death match fun. Maybe add in a survival mode where enemies keep re-appearing and you alone, or with other players, just try to survive while getting the highest score possible. I'd buy that, especially if it comes with level editor.
I also thought about a Wiiware version of Nazo no Murasamejo a few times, still top-down view with simple 3D graphics. I thought that besides just Takamaru there'd be other selectable characters specializing in other area's, like a long range specialist or a slow fatso that can throw around a giant chainball, unaffected by ninja stars thrown at it. Different classes would make 4-player co-op game a lot better anyway.
Lastly all that talk about Ducktales in in that VC/Wiiware update thread had me fantasizing about a sequel. Ducktales HD 3? Would be the first Disney title I'd anticipate since, well, ever. ;D

I think if they were going to do a new Nazo no Murasamejo, it'd work better as a DS Ware title. They could do polygonal graphics similar to Phantom Hourglass, and transfer sword moves to the stylus. That would work quite well, methinks.

Either way the game needs a sequel. Atleast then there's an excuse to throw Takamaru in the next Smash Bros

The rotating mountain idea is pretty damn brilliant. I also don't see why climbing towers and whatnot is against the idea of Ice Climber. They could just subtitle it like Ice Climber: Worlds or something. Or, make it a brand-spanking new game that just so happens to be an Ice Climber game. So like how Wario Land is really Mario Land 3, or something to that effect. Would it feature a couple of new characters who don't adhere to an ice theme? Like ordinary mountain climbers... or even Climber from the Game & Watch game named after him?

Mach Rider would be a swell fit for..."modernization".
The guy can have some kind of rival named Rider X. Some sort of homage to Speed Racer's Racer X. Also even different customizable vehicles to use every now and then.
That, and also Ice Climber, Balloon Fight, and Clu Clu Land.
Ice Climber could use more places to explore, more enemies, and even animal friends to help the duo out.
Balloon Fight could use more enemies and an impressive multiplayer and even better tactics such as using a blowgun.
Clu Clu Land...retain the same gameplay, but more enemies, more things to do, maybe integrate some sort of adventure element into it.
These four seem to have a lot going for them.

Duck Hunt: Trick Shooting sounds like a nice name for a Duck Hunt sequel. I envision cel-shaded cartoony graphics, somewhat like Punch-Out!! (Wii), with the Wii Zapper to play the game. There should be several modes. Let me list and explain them.
1. Duck Shooting - your classic mode with shooting ducks with the dog fetching them or laughing at you
2. Clay Shooting - another classic mode with shooting down clay pigeons
3. Balloon Shooting - shoot balloons before they float away
4. Can Shooting - juggle cans by shooting at them (this was based on the can shooting mode in Hogan's Alley)
5. Dog Shooting - shoot cardboard cut-outs of the dog, not the ducks (inspired by Hogan's Alley)
6. Target Shooting - shoot stationary and moving targets (inspired by "Shooting Range" in Wii Play)
7. UFO Shooting - shoot the UFOs before they abduct ducks (inspired by "Shooting Range" in Wii Play)
To make things more varied, there should be different terrains to play these seven modes in. Let me list and explain them.
1. Meadow - your classic meadow with tall grass and that tree on the left
2. Plain - another classic grassland with mountains at a distance (from the classic Clay Shooting mode)
3. Forest - takes place in a pine forest with some fallen trees
4. Lake - ride a small boat around the lake with the marshlands at a distance
5. Sky - ride a hot-air balloon through the skies with several other hot-air balloons
6. Farm - takes place behind the fence in front of a cornfield and the farm at a distance
7. Mountain - on the summit with few forests and bigger mountains at a distance
8. Town - takes place in the Wild West town square
In case these stages get a bit boring, it should also have weather changes like sunny, cloudy, windy, snowy, stormy, and rainy in addition to day/night changes to make these stages more varied. All these plus multi-player options (4 players would be awesome) would make a decent Duck Hunt sequel.

Well alot of those modes seem similar to one another, gameplay style that is.
Perhaps you could have it like this:
SINGLE PLAYER
Duck Hunt: Like the original Duck hunt but with new graphic like you said.
Clay Shooting: the same as you said.
Safari: Like Yoshi's Safari, you ride down a moving course through different terrains (like the ones you suggested) hitting targets as you moves through a 3D course.
Target: Like Hogan's Alley (or Dog Shooting like you suggested) you hit specific cutout figures as they appear. Don't hit the dogs however (as much as you want to)
Survival: A game that keeps going on forever with infinite ammo. Shoot different targets like balloons, target boards, cans (like in Hogan's Alley) More and more targets appear, you can only get three misses before you get a game over. If you shoot a duck you get a 1UP.
MULTIPLAYER
Duck Hunt: Free for all! Like classic Duck Hunt, many ducks will appear whoever gets the most wins.
Clay Shooting: Take turns shoot clays like at the Olympics.
Fireworks: One or more players set off fire works while the other players try to sabotage the event by shooting them down before they explode. This is a team VS. game, one team tries to set their fireworks off, the other tries to shoot them down.
Invasion: A space shooter survival, where you all work together to defeat the aliens before they destroy the Earth below. Hit the UFO's before they send bombs down to Earth, if they do send a missile down you can still shoot down the missile. Occasionally a Mother Ship will appear that will require multiple hits on a certain weak spot.

I cannot believe I forgot about Yoshi's Safari! That's a great idea. The safari would be like a slow stroll through the terrain... something like Pokemon Snap. The concept is just too good I don't know if Nintendo would ever do anything like that again.
Also, maybe Dog Shooting should be something like that cool shooting mini-game from Zelda: Majora's Mask. You remember the one with red and blue Octoroks? Maybe you have 9 bushes and you must shoot the red dogs, but not the blue dogs, as they appear from the bushes.
