I'm sure there were topics like this before but, which NES games would you like/ think would be good for a modern day revival? And how would they be brought back? What changes would they make?
Here's one I think would do great. MACH RIDER!
Yeah, this would be revived as a more mature game. Picture yourself gunning down dirty enemies in post apocalyptic terrains at high speeds! With a grudge type feel, rad tones, nonstop action gameplay, Mach Rider is a legend reborn!
I can imagine you racing through industrial wastelands, destroyed cities, and war bound deserts. Equip various weapons, customize your bike, and take down huge bosses while riding down dangerous roads.
Now what other forgotten NES titles do you want/ think can be revived?

I don't remember any threads like this before.
On the subject of NES revivals I think the obvious choice would be a WiiWare version/sequel of Balloon Fight/Balloon Kid with 4 player support (the only BF game that did it before was Tingle's Balloon Fight) and also give it online multiplayer.
Unfortunalty I couldn't think up any good ideas to improve the game in single player . . . After seeing BK on YouTube it didn't look that exciting.
I think StarTropics could use a WiiWare sequel as well . . . Where . . . Errr . . . Zoda comes back for some no apprant reason and goes to Russia and Mike has to stop him after Zoda relised that where Tetris blocks come from.
Also to stop the game to being compared to Zelda just keep the 8-bit graphics and the hard diffuiculty (but remove annoying one kill situations) because if the game doesn't evolve over time (like Zelda and over franchises) then it can get less comparsions as well where this game has game mechanics of the past while Zelda uses modern ones of today.

Mach Rider... definitely Star Tropics.... absolutely Balloon Fight.. possibly
In addition to those, possibly a new Duck Hunt game for use with the Wii Zapper. With new game modes, challenges, etc.

Sky Kid. Yup, I said it.
You'd fly your plane though a city while being attacked by rival aircrafts as well as tanks and trucks. Once you managed to find and pick up the missile, you'd have to strategically bomb the big...evil building. And then you'd need to land. Hoo boy!

-Duck Hunt for use with the Wii Zapper. -Star Tropics for either Wii or DS. Preferably for the Wii in 3D. Controller could be used for operating the various tools. Would probably play like an odd mix of Mario and Zelda. -Kid Icarus. One for DS that plays like Of Myths and Monsters, and one for Wii that takes the game into 3D. Would probably be similar to Legend of the Mystical Ninja Starrring Goemon for the N64. -Mach Rider for use with the Wii Wheel. There needs to be more game mechanics based around his ability to disassemble himself into pieces. -Pro Wrestling to coincide with Punch-Out. -Clu Clu Land for DS. Yes, I know we already have Jungle Climber, but the game's mechanics are still pretty different. If all else fails they could just make it for WiiWare. -Ice Climber for DS. The ability to play as Popo and Nana as a team along with two-screens for seeing more of the mountain. Maybe have some more level archetypes and enemies? -Urban Champion... no wait. Nevermind.

--Star Tropics in full 3D on the Wii as a Tomb Raider-esque game. It would work so well on so many dimensions.
--Kid Icarus as a 2.5D platformer on the Wii or DS, implementing a cool arrow/blades gameplay where you can switch between the two fighting styles. Continues the story from Of Myths and Monsters.
--Balloon Fight as a WiiWare or DS title with simplistic 2D graphics but all the additions of Balloon Fight Flash: upgrades, powerups, weapons, massive multiplayer matches, and tons of customizable options for stages and music. 16 player Balloon Fight where everybody has a custom "fighter" carrying different guns, jetpacks, helmets, and other gear? Soooo awesome.
--Adventures of Lolo for DS. Just... do it.
--Kabuki Quantum Fighter. Don't care how, but make it happen.
--Nazo no Murasamejo as a 3D sandbox game for the Wii. Make it like medieval Shenmue with super-refined combat and Zelda-style dungeons.
and my last one, I swear...
--Crystalis in 3D for the Wii. Nintendo owns the license, so this can be done with a little bit of elbow grease and some dev time.

Ice Climber. One-Player, Two-Player Co-Op, Two-Player Competition, and Online, done as a 3D platformer with more enemies (Topis, Condors, and Polar Bears can only go so far, after all) and real bosses (though not like Zelda or Mario where it's just a super-sized mutant, I mean stuff you'd never see coming.) I can't help but picture this stocky guy in a blue parka throwing his girlfriend in pink to this miniscule ledge of rock not even sure he can do it without slipping and plummeting down the mountain when I think of this idea.
Shin Onigashima. RPG. You do the math.
Balloon Fight, nothing more there. Same for Kid Icarus.
I know they're doing it but I'm saying it anyways: Punch-Out.
Mach Rider, which I can see as a sort of cross between DKR and GTA.

For Ice Climbers I was thinking a 2.5D game that allows you to circle around an entire 3D mountain. Meaning if you keep going right you'll go all around the mountain and back where you started. You know, like 3D mode of Pokemon Puzzle League.
Anyway, I figure the goal of the game would be the same (get to the top) but how its done would be different. You have to up the possibilities for todays audiences. So besides poking holes through ice platforms, you may also have to push a block over something and other stuff to help you climb up.
In addition to climbing mountains, you will also be climbing active volcanoes, spooky towers, giant trees, and much more.

You know, like 3D mode of Pokemon Puzzle League. Oh, THAT'S what it's called. I didn't mention that during mine because I didn't know what it was called, but I was thinking that'd be how the climbs would be. My idea was that climbing the mountain would be a 2.5D, but on the ground it'd be a 3D platformer, though I would hope that they'd use a more Zelda-sized overworld. I always did like expansive overworlds. But, what of the Eggplants? Anyways, the concepts there are pretty interesting. I like the idea of pushing blocks out of the way or into a hole you couldn't pass. It might even apply the 2.5D-ness to it: You have to turn around the mountain in order to push this big tall rock into a hole which would enable you to jump onto the rock and to a platform above. Eh, Ice Climbers need mountains. Spooky towers and giant trees don't seem right for them, though your active volcano idea is pretty interesting.

Well I thought I'd give them variety. You can't make games with the same terrain over and over today. People would get bored.

Of course. But they'd all have to be mountains. It just wouldn't be the same if they were climbing a tree.

Of course. But they'd all have to be mountains. It just wouldn't be the same if they were climbing a tree. SW got a point, if your going to do that with the IC's you might as well make a new game based off existing IP where it would be okay for that to happen like how DK:King of Swing was based off Clu Clu Land. But since the IC's already have more recognition than Bubbles the fish (or was it Bubbles the Bubblefish?) from CCL it would be better to keep them. Or a better solution . . . the tree's and spooky towers could be bonus levels of some sort? There also should be enough mountain designs to work with, like a volcano you mentioned before and some snow can be put on it. (Mt Kijamaro in Africa is a volcano with snow, though it has declined because of a warming climate. (cough, cough climate change, cough, cough)

A snow-covered forest mountain would also work. And the way I see it, a haunted mountain could easily be pulled off. I mean, there are enough ghost stories for it to make sense.
Jeez, I just realized how intense a conversation we got in over a hypothetical Ice Climber game. I don't know whether to be disturbed (due to the fact that an idea managed to go that far off) or intrigued (due to the fact that these are really good ideas that Nintendo should know of if they aren't thinking about it already) by this.

Yeah, the idea of turning of put IC's on a 2.5D rotating mountain never occured in my mind until it was pointed out here.
It would be nice to see an old NES franchise get a revival as it would be more proof that Nintendo still serves the hardcore.

The rotating mountain idea is pretty damn brilliant. I also don't see why climbing towers and whatnot is against the idea of Ice Climber. They could just subtitle it like Ice Climber: Worlds or something. Or, make it a brand-spanking new game that just so happens to be an Ice Climber game. So like how Wario Land is really Mario Land 3, or something to that effect.
