You know, I thought I didn't post in this thread. Also, I thought I posted correctly, but oh well.
I believe the game that Masahiro Sakurai is currently working on is either a sequel or remake of Joy Mech Fight, just so that he can practice developing limbless computerized models.

That'd but awesome. Ironic, of course, but awesome.
Mario Bros. Note, by the way, my lack of use of the word "Super," which would mean no Bowser, no Princess Toadstool, just Mario, Luigi, and a sewer full of pests. Heck, maybe not even end there, maybe have 4-player mode featuring Wario and, in his first real role since forever, Waluigi. Might be pushing it, but still. It's a thought. Add in some Wrecking Crew refs and classic 8-bit Mario Bros. action and I'd even reserve a copy.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Donkey Kong Country needs a revival. My idea is that it should include every level archetype from the the first three games plus a set of new ones to match up with the re-done soundtrack from DKC3 GBA. You'd have the option to play as DK with Diddy, Diddy with Dixie, or Dixie with Kiddy. All the Kong helpers and Bear Brothers would return to help, as would all the Animal Buddies, including a few new ones. Hell, I gotta get crackin' on the details! *goes off to Google Docs*

My mental image of a DKC remake is the whole thing being made with 3D models, rather than CGI sprites. It's quite possible now, and would be sticking close to the spirit of the original.

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking, you lousy brain thief! Seriously, if Nintendo had a console as powerful as the 360 or PS3, the game would look absolutely gorgeous. *salivates all over self*

It should be a remake of both, the Donkey Kong Country series and the Donkey Kong Land series.

Well, my first idea was a remake of DKC with the aforementioned graphical style, which included the worlds from Donkey Kong Land along with several features introduced in DKC2 and 3, such as Banana Coins. So... yeah.

I dunno, I feel that DKC would need a bit of a boost to keep up to date. The SSE concept would add a nice touch to DKC.

You want to make a Donkey Kong platformer that stands apart from the rest (what few platformers there are now, especially 3-D ones)? Regardless of how bloody unlikely that is to actually happen? Then take the tag team aspect and run with it. Jungle Climber does it best: you have Diddy and, instead of just being a glorified Super Mushroom, he opens up a new attack and gives you access to new items and areas you wouldn't be able to reach otherwise. Take that and expand on it as much as humanly possible.
I don't really want just a remake of the first game, as much as I'd be willing to accept it and like it, because the first game is very basic and we're fifteen years past that. We can do more interesting things with gameplay, I don't just want lawl Subspace Emissary we'll treat it like a Kirby game with floaty controls. I want the depth that comes with being a next generation game. Or maybe I just want to dissuade any thought on the subject since it is the purest form of setting oneself up for a fall, since if any kind of "DKC-style" platformer was gonig to be made now it would have already. 2002 was a long, long time ago. Why am I hyperventilating and going mental over such an innocuous question, I don't even get why it set me off.
...why are we talking about Donkey Kong Country in an NES thread anyway?

I always had the wonderful idea that DK could choose his partner either Diddy or Dixie. Or have Dixie team up with any of those other two.
You can have crazy combos, if Diddy is riding on DK's shoulders he can launch him straight up like in Jungle Climber. If Dixie is on his shoulders they can spin around together and drill into the ground.

I think just making DKC with fully 3D models, and perhaps adding in some of the elements from later games in the series (Hidden DK Coins) and maybe a few new stages, that would do a good job of bringing it up to "modern" standards. You have to remember, it's already been remade twice with very little in the way of updates. I'd like to see it on a console, and Rare's restricted to handheld development for Nintendo. Perhaps if another developer (Paon?) were to do the remake, they could inject it with some of their own style. I like the idea of DKL being incorporated. Maybe as an extra game after you beat the main game. The story would have to be changed though, seeing as it's no longer on a 4-colour system

I thought maybe after beating Chimp Caverns the game would just segue into Gangplank Galleon and the rest of the DKL worlds would be incorporated into the map from DKC (in 3D of course, so there's be locations on the backside as well). Then you'd fight K.Rool on top of the tallest building in Big Ape City to finish with a bang. ;D
Still, perhaps an extra new world or a Lost World like the ones in DKC2 and 3 is in order. They could lots with that.

It reminds me a little of how they incorporated The Lost Levels in Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. DKL began in the Gangplank Galleon, so it makes sense. And I'd prefer that than K. Rool saying "make yourselves at home" at the end of your adventure.
