And even though the hero of time DIDN'T appear in Wind Waker's timeline, they make constant references to him.

WW's Hero of Time was Adult Link. He appeared to save the day and those who saw him would say he defeated Ganon. Legends generally change over time so people added that he galloped away on a steed.
Thus the Hero is simply Adult Link and well, he did appear in statue form at Hyrule Castle.

He appeared OoT. Adult Link in OoT was the Hero. He appeared for that brief moment and then returned to his own time. After OoT, they erected statues in his honor which you see in WW.
If I remember correctly, King of Red Lions said to Jabun, that WW Link is NOT related to OoT Link but a new hero chosen by the gods.

So I just picked up PH not long ago and beat it, and I've been thinking: He's gone by sea in WW and PH, and soon by land in ST, but maybe in another game like this, he'll go by air. Probably on something like this: Or a hot air balloon, I don't know. There are a lot of over-the-top mechanics in most games in the series.

I picture either a machine with actual flapping wings, or......

My guess would be the owl from OoT. I think I recall a gossip stone refer to him as the recaranation of a sage.

So I just picked up PH not long ago and beat it, and I've been thinking: He's gone by sea in WW and PH, and soon by land in ST, but maybe in another game like this, he'll go by air. Probably on something like this: Gyrocopter/autogyro picture Or a hot air balloon, I don't know. There are a lot of over-the-top mechanics in most games in the series. Sounds like someone wants a Pilotwings 64 sequel. (Not saying that's a bad thing). The only problem with the gyrocopter/autogyro concept is that the world needs runways everywhere for it to land/take off. The hot air balloon is also good but then again . . . Homer: "Okay, Marge I think I finally figured out how this thing works. We can up and down, but not side to side, or back in time." HAB's have a problem with horizontal movement which is manly controlled by the wind direction. Since it varies at different attitudes. and they lack a flux capacitor and high enough power source for for time travel, but then again since it's a video game you should be able to get around that. I picture either a machine with actual flapping wings, or...... Ornithopter is the name your looking for to describe what you saying. And yes, they do exist. Good idea but it sounds like something more appropriate for well . . . Kid Icarus with it's Greek mythology (and probably other mythology as well). I do know that the name "Epona" is supposed be the name for a Greek goddess of horses, so it's still possible for stuff like that to exist in Zelda. My guess would be the owl from OoT. I think I recall a gossip stone refer to him as the recaranation of a sage. Wow, that would be interesting to see. Also because no one has finally mentioned it, how about making Link ride a GIANT FAIRY. Yes, now the in-game fairy is actually useful for a change.Or how about link driving a submarine underwater? The E3 2004 NDS submarine tech demo can finally be resurrected!

What about a balloon with a propeller at the end? You know, like in The Great Mouse Detective.
