When was the first time Diddy was mentioned to be DK's nephew before Melee/Brawl? When was the first time Dixie was mentioned to be DK's cousin before Melee/Brawl? First question: Smash Bros 64 did mention that once. I recall only the non-Japanese versions has this error. Problem is, both Sakurai and the localisation team were not really familiar with Nintendo stuff despite the latter acutally being Nintendo staff. The second question is as crack as ever. I've never heard of that. Sakurai trivia: He once mentioned about Mario in his middle age in 64, and two years later, said Mario is 26 in Melee. |

What? Melee said Mario is 26 years old? I think it meant Mario's franchise age, not the character's age.

He was billed as DK's nephew in DK64 (both the instructions and the NP guide), which is the also the only place where DK was ever referred to as Cranky's son rather than grandson. Make of that what you will. Dixie was only referred to as DK's cousin in the NP guide for DKC3. I wouldn't put too much stock in that one. |

The relationship between DK and Diddy is another one of those inconsistencies that has been thrown up several times. But it has also been insinuated that Diddy is simply DK's best friend and honorary member of the Kong family. Which kinda holds water seeing as they're completely different species  As a side note, was anybody else touched by the Bromance between DK and Diddy in the Brawl cutscenes? ;D |

I know I was.  They're like Batman and the original Robin. Diddy's long since upgraded himself into the Nightwing role, and now they're veterans. |

I wasn't touched by how he saved Diddy from the trophy beam, but when they reunited and danced out of joy, that was like "aww".
Stickerbrush Symphony sounding when Diddy teamed up with Fox was nostalgic, too, because he was looking for DK once again.

I'm the complete opposite. I friggin' loved DK's sacrifice, I thought it a masterpiece. The Dance of the Reunited Kongs didn't have the same ring to me, though.

I just loved all of it. It really portayed them exactly how I wanted them to be.

On the subject of Diddy's relation to DK... I'm almost certain he was referred to as DK's nephew earlier than DK64, because I've thought he was his nephew for as long as I can remember knowing of him. Was it in DKC? It might've been in that Donkey Kong comic that ran briefly over here around the time of the game's release. It was somewhere, I'm sure of that.

All I have to say is... Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2... Unfortunately Fryguy is right. If Nintendo wants, they can portray DK as the classic jerk from the arcade. I'm just saying that I was glad they didn't do that in Brawl. |
