I had avoided mentioning Wrinkly's relation to Donkey Kong because I wasn't sure whether Super Mario Wiki assumed it from her relation to Cranky Kong or it was stated somewhere independently.
Oh, and it's perfectly OK if it's assumed from her relation to Cranky Kong. Because simple is better in such a fantastic universe.

Wrinkly's only been referred to as Cranky's wife in the few games she's appeared in, both alive and as a ghost. It's only logical to assume that she'd be DK's mother/grandmother as a result.

Well, this Donkey Kong plot mix-up is just one of those video game mysteries. Ever remembered Goompa in the first Paper Mario working on the back porch of their house while asking Mario for a hammer, while Goompa and every other Goomba lacked arms? Why won't Rayman's hands and head fly away? Why can't Link talk while he screams when he attacks or gets hurt?

Goombas have a short-ranged telekinetic force to serve as hands, Rayman's hands and head don't fly away because he's held together by his willpower, and we're the only ones who don't hear Link talk, in fact, it's been stated in Twilight Princess that Link can actually speak quite loudly.
Explained.

Trying to figure out physics in Mario games is illogical because there's no answer. There is logic in trying to figure out the Kong family because there obviously is a relationship between them.
Things not worth discussing in videogames: Physics, biology, geography.
Things worth discussing: Characters, plot, timeline.

There is logic but is there a point?

Haven't you played Mario Superstar Baseball or Mario Super Sluggers? Rayman's body parts don't fly away because that's how his physiology works. Link never talks because he's too shy. Easy enough to explain. No mystery at all. People make it a mystery just for the sake.

Sorry to keep this silliness going, but Rayman body parts can wander away from him as seen in the intro to the first Rayman.
Also in Rayman 2 the Great Escape, his limbs can be lost or seperated from him if they are pulled far away enough from his body.
And in Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc Rayman loses his hands and has to find them.

Do the new games have that?I thought it was awesome how it was sneaked into Brawl. Actually, I think Jungle Beat was almost entirely this kind of gameplay, minus the cannons. You have to have perfect timing, throwing yourself from point to point, adding to your score multiplier and soaring through the air without touching the ground. The Wii Play Control version is also adding in actual Barrel Cannons. King of Swing and Jungle Beat also featured more traditional Barrel Cannon segments. And are also pretty awesome (if your fingers can take the punishment). You know... I'm not entirely sure that holds water. When you start trying to find explanations for things that are just cartoony or stylised, you have passed beyond the geek realm and into Nerd Country! Honestly, discussing the physics of Rayman's limbs, citing references and coming up with theories as to its possibility? It sounds a little bit too "Big Bang Theory" for my liking

These guys are even present in bíg German newspapers and explain such things why the Ducks sometimes show teeth or how they can survive heavy crashes with their body or why only the female Ducks wear shoes, everything on scientific level. Not only in newspapers, they were also fairly recently on TV when one Donaldist showed the map of Duckburg he made in 13 years. Yeah, the German mass media show interest for this, but if some guy would do the same on Mario's universe, I doubt they would care in any way.

I doubt most people would care even for Donald Duck... It's like a freak-show for most people, seeing the hoops these people will jump through to explain things that don't need explaining in the first place.
Although I am very excited about the map of Duckburg!! ;D
At least now you'll know that when there's d-d-d-danger right behind you, you'll know in which compass direction that is ;D

Donald Duck is more popular in Europe though than he is anywhere else. And that saddens me. Remember that thread I made on the Fun Stuff board with that document full of all the Mario fanon ideas I had come up with? I need to make one for DK next. I even have a few ways that one could possibly shoehorn the Brooklyn thing into the games' world.

I prefer to think of "Big City" as retconning any mention of Brooklyn out of the Mario series. It's also the only shared location between the Donkey Kong and Wario Land games, which is awesome! ;D

Wait, you mean that Big City is the same city from Wario Land II? Where'd you find that one out?
