Prime is a gaiden game, end of story. It has little to no bearing on the main series, so there is little to no reason to acknowledge it here.
Also, Super Metroid had a similar death sequence. Samus' suit explosded, leaving a black zero suit clad Samus visible for a few seconds.

While under any other circumstances I'd argue and say "well it still happened, so it has SOME bearing, and it's part of the series' canon," but this is Team Ninja we're talking about. They follow the same faggy storytelling protocol Square does with Final Fantasy, so of course they're going to leave Prime out in the cold in favor of the more exploitable stuff.
I DREAMED THAT MY PLANET WAS DESTROYED BUT IN MY DREAMS IT WASN'T SO I DREAMED THAT THERE WAS A DREAM AND I HAD A DREAM WHERE ALL MEN WERE CREATED EQUAL AND so on, so forth, ad nauseam until the entire thing might as well have been written by George Lucas for Hayden Christensen.

Team Ninja didn't write it. Sakamoto did. Just to clarify.

Hence me attributing his snarkiness on the Prime series. I believe he used the words "insignificant"

By definition a side story is insignificant. It's nothing to get upset about. Prime served its purpose, but the events within those games do very little to reinforce the themes of Other M.

Those complaining about story in a metroid game should also realize that the series is far less mysterious in Japan, with the mangas being official continuity. In fact, Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission made extensive references to them, especially the parts with Samus being raised by the Chozo. That wasn't Retro's idea.

Huh. Well, I wonder what compelled Sakamoto to put Other M's story together like this? And what's Team Ninja supposed to be doing on it anyway? On another note: Am I the only one who hasn't forgotten about her? She appeared in the end of the first trailer. She's said to be someone rather important to the story, but I guess we'll have to wait on when the game's actually released to find out. Mysteries abound, thus the greatness of the Metroid series.

Team Ninja is doing the gameplay/graphics end of things.

Nope, he's a long-time Nintendo staffer. Just the same, I don't care for his storytelling method (what we've seen of it thus far, anyway).

I'm really starting to think you folks should hold your compliants until you actually play the game . . . But then again . . . Here's a Japanese store preview for the game. Probably not the best image to use for display purposes . . . Makes you wonder what is Nintendo's idea behind using that image.

Samus' opinion of the game I suppose.
