I'm actually really bummed out knowing that I won't be one of those 100 people. =( I always craft shit as soon as I can, because I'm working towards a class hat, and from what I've heard, Valve has disabled smelting refined and reclaimed metal down to its basic parts. At this point I only have two things in my "willing to craft it" section of my backpack: a Cloak and Dagger, and a Flare Gun. =(
Alas.

50 GW found!
New Engie weapon unveiled.
Also achievements name/icons and new payload map were partially unveiled.
Achievements appear to hint that the Engie's guitar from Meet the Engineer will make an appearance possibly as a taunt.
IMPORTANT: Valve have increased the weekly item drop limit for this week only.

All 100 GW have been "randomly" obtained/found and of course none of us here got one. (Dammit, dammit, dammit!)
But all the awesome new engineer weapons have been unveiled!
Go! Go! Offensive Engie!
* Added The Frontier Justice. * Added The Wrangler. * Added The Gunslinger. * Added The Southern Hospitality. * Added 35 Engineer achievements. * Engineers can now pickup & move their buildings.
* Added Engineer main menu music.
* Added 4 new maps: ;D o Thunder Mountain, a 3 stage Payload map. o Hightower, a Payload Race map. o Upward, a Payload map. o ColdFront, a community built Capture Point map.
* Item tuning: o The Sandvich now uses a cooldown timer, instead of the health pack recharge mechanic. o The Gunboats now reduce self-damage by 60% (was 75%) o The Tribalman's Shiv bleed duration reduced to 6 second (was 8), and its damage penalty increased to 50% (was 35%).
* Added better feedback sound for Pyros on when their flamethrower is doing damage. * Fixed blood effect on bleeding player.
* Added a glow effect to Payload carts. * Added Romanian language support.

Redeploying sounds kinda broken... I suppose it takes way longer to redeploy level 3 sentries? Also does the glove allow you to build several mini-sentries at once? I'd check this out myself if my PC wasnt busted right now (I had a big Windows error I finally managed to fix yesterday.. only to have my power supply to break down. TIMING)

I'd check this out myself if my PC wasnt busted right now (I had a big Windows error I finally managed to fix yesterday.. only to have my power supply to break down. TIMING) Redeploying takes times to load and unload/redelpoy the sentry and also slows the engies movement down when carrying it. And the glove allows for one sentry . . . I think. Very effective when used as a surprise attack. I played on ColdFront which seemed liked a pretty nice 5 CP type map. I'm still surprised that we haven't gotten any new CP map variations (like Gravelpit/Junction and of course Steel have). Upward is a FREAKING AWESOME MAP, the view surrounding the map is great. It's just filled with lots of side paths and walkways. Havn't played TM or High Tower yet. The only problem currently is that every team is composed of more than 50% enigneers each. You may want to start playing as a Demoman to counter it. EDIT: Or Spy, with so many Engie buildings around your bound to sap something. Then later today I went and finally crafted myself a Scottish Resistance sticky bomb launcher. THIS WEAPON IS AWESOME! It's odd more people don't use it (or maybe they don't have one?)

I managed to get 10 of the Engie achievements in actual gameplay, earning the new shotty - which I guess says something, because I'm a terrible Engie! I farmed enough with some friends to get the hand and the Wrangler. This patch actually makes the class fun to play, and I'm getting better with it, too.

For those with Steam, we get access to download a new Valve game named Alien Swarm* for FREE It also has 4 player co-op! Alien Swarm is a game and Source SDK release from a group of talented designers at Valve who were hired from the Mod community.
Available free of charge, the game thrusts players into an epic bug hunt featuring a unique blend of co-op play and squad-level tactics. With your friends, form a squad of four distinct IAF Marine classes. Plan your attack using an unlockable arsenal of weapons with countless loadout configurations against a wide variety of aliens. Blaze your way through an overrun, off-world colony, eradicating the alien infestation in environments ranging from the icy planet's surface, to a subterranean lava-flooded mining facility.
Along with the game get the complete code base for Alien Swarm that features updates to the Source engine as well as the SDK. Alien Swarm adds 3rd person camera, depth of field, improved dynamic shadows and a wide variety of gameplay additions to the Source engine.
* Tactical, 4 player co-op action game with a top-down perspective * Complete game code and mod tools * Unlock persistent items by gaining levels * Over 40 weapons and equipment with countless loadout configurations * 4 unique classes and 8 unique characters * Matchmaking, Steam Cloud, Steam Stats * 64 achievements * Tile-based map generation tool * Powered by Source and Steam * Not releated to the Alien movie franchise with the "xenomorphs." I'm only gotten 2 engie acheveiments so far but through randome drops got a Wrangler, and 2 Fronteir Justices (and also a Scottish Resistance 2 days after I crafted one, dammit). And now I'm slowly building up a bunch of refined metal . . . gonna craft me a hat someday . . . Also got to play on new maps Thunder Mountain and HighTower. TM so far seems pretty awesome, need more time with the map though, and depending on the team HT can be very good to very annoying. The last stage of HT where you have stand with cart till it goes up the tower is pretty neat gameplay mechanic.

For those who missed it, Valve held an Item Creation contest through a website called Polycount. The winners can be found here. All the items shall be added to the game in a future update. They're taking their sweet time to add them though. In the words of a much more intelligent man, I want it yesterday.

Well, we only just got the Engie update and the winners were announced pretty recently. Valve has to decide what the items do, code them, playtest them, and tweak accordingly, which I imagine is a pretty lengthy process. Give it a couple months at least.... ...but I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't psyched about the new Pyro stuff >_>

FINALLYSo who wants a decapitated Scout head in his inventory? Already have Bonk Helmet so if any of you want this 'hat' I'll just give it away.

I was about to come in here and be all like " BITCHIN'", but then I realized I have nothing worth trading. Welp. Here's hoping that by "extra items", they mean this.

Valve's Chet Falzek has revealed the new Left 4 Dead DLC, "The Sacrifice." The update pack (YES, PACK) will be available for both Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 2, and will boast the following: // The ability to play as the original Survivors in Left 4 Dead 2, including the second game's unique features, like melee weapons, adrenaline, bile bombs, et cetera. (Whether this is just within L4D2's version of The Sacrifice or if it applies across the entire game.) // A playable version of L4D1's first campaign, No Mercy, in L4D2. (Fucking AWESOME. I love No Mercy.) The DLC will be free on Mac and PC, and will cost 560 MS Points ($7) on the 360. PC will get it on October 5th, and no date has been revealed for Mac and Xbox. Source
