(I guess I should point out that as engineer I don't sit in a corner and whack a sentry the whole time. I like to run around and place lvl 1 sentries at the front line in unexpected places instead.) Ahh, offensive engineering, that's freaking awesome.I hate the Demoman. It's my least played class (1 hour compared to 200+ hours of engineer ) Just feels cheap to me to pile up stickybombs and camp while waiting for a passersby to go around the corner, what a lot of people seem to enjoy doing. Also one random Demoman crit can really screw you over. I'd play Soldier and FIGHT THE FIGHT, but I'd only get wasted mercilessly by Demomen. So instead I'm kritzspamming the shit out of any Soldiers nearby. I don't even play Soldier that much, but 'BY GOD, I know what’s IMPORTANT, and it’s that SOLDIERS get it and the DEMOMAN DOES NOT.' I wanted to go with the Demomen after Adam brought it up, but after hearing about the negativity towards spammy/cheap Demomen, a lot of people want the Soilder to win. The I came up with an idea to have more fun, I decided to do what I call a "bloody switizerland" where I stay neutral to each side by making sure my Soilder/Demo kill counts are the same. (It really is easier to kill people as a Demo than a Soilder). But in the end I decided to go Soilder because it requres more skill/tactics than the Demoman because it's so easy for them to kill people (place stickies above entrance . . . wait for enemy and then denonate). Now all I need to do is kill more Demomen to get my kill score higher. (currently 10 dead Soilders to 8 dead Demomen). Also do you really have 200+ hours as an Engie? My highest is currently 6 or so hours for a Sniper. Also . . . Gotta love the craziness of the TF2 fourms. Poor Gabe Newell, getting mocked for his weight . . . And . . .

That's almost 2 years ago now. Most of that engineer time was spent when I had lag issues at first. Lag spikes don't matter if my sentry kills people for me

Would you prefer charging into people and chopping their heads off? And, uh, my most played class is Scout, with about 10 and a half hours. Because you all care so much.

I'm preeeetty sure the Scout is my currently most-played, but if not him, then the Heavy. I'll get exact numbers for you later, when I'm not too lazy to hook up the 360.

So, I recently got a part-time job, and I am on the verge of being able to purchase a PS3.
So.... suggest a good first game.
(No MGS or Ratchet, as I still need to get around to finishing their PS2 counterparts)

Finally! Ah, let's see...
LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, Resistance, Infamous, etc...
The God of War Collection would also be a good idea since GoW3 is coming out soon.

Seven hours and fifty-five minutes as the Heavy and five hours and sixteen minutes as the Scout.
Engineer time? Forty-eight minutes. Though to be fair, I've only put fifty minutes into the Pyro, but that's mostly cuz I suck at him, not out of any refusal to play the class (due to impotent nerd rage).

(No MGS or Ratchet, as I still need to get around to finishing their PS2 counterparts) Only !PS3 EXCLUSIVE! game I have is Little Big Planet. It's good, but I couldn't get into/use the editor very well. Too complicated for me. Still there's some great custom levels out there online. Also get Saints Row 2 if you haven't already. It's GTA4, except it's fun. Seven hours and fifty-five minutes as the Heavy and five hours and sixteen minutes as the Scout. Engineer time? Forty-eight minutes. I want to play Heavy, I really do, but I'm a really awful aimer and oblivious to what's happening around me. After getting dominated within a minute by some puny scout I am embarrassed enough to quickly switch classes to something faster.

After getting dominated within a minute by some puny scout I am embarrassed enough to quickly switch classes to something faster. I'm not sure how aiming with the keyboard and mouse are compared to the controller, but I've never had trouble keeping control of my aim as a Heavy. But as a Scout facing a Heavy, and as a Heavy facing a Scout, the Scout never ever ever wins unless by a fluke. As awesome as it would be to have something as one-sided as the Meet the Scout video >_> Oh! But oh man, I had a killer Scout run the other day on Control Points Hydro. (Hydro is the only map with Control Point on the 360, and it also doesn't have any other modes. Sigh.) Normally as a Scout my strength is Attack/Defend and I'm decent at CTF when all of the major routes aren't blocked by fucking sentries, but there was a round of Control Points where I was seriously the only one to make an attempt at, you know, controlling the enemy's point. I would go there and there'd be a few Scouts, a Heavy, a Demoman and a Sniper; I literally did the "stay on the control point and run and shoot and aaaaaaAAAAAAAA" thing and not only racked up a decent number of kills, but managed to successfully capture the point after two or three tries. So, awesome.

Oooh, thanks for the heads-up.
Now, taking things a little off-topic, I had an interesting occurance in Left 4 Dead 2 the other night! I don't know how many of you have played that yet, but the basic gist is that I was going through this motel complex and there was a point where we had to go through some of the rooms in order to escape the area. Now, for the longest time I'd heard the Witch crying, and as is my luck, it was probably inside the rooms we had to pass through. She's nowhere in sight when I look inside the first of the rooms, so I jump in through the window, only to hear the Witch growl - but I still can't see her. At last, I turn around to face the window I'd come in through, and the Witch was sitting off to the side of the same wall - right behind the door I could have taken but chose not to because sometimes you just have to go for style points. So I back off enough where the Witch wouldn't be mad at me anymore - only for one of the bots on my team to open the door on her face.
Somehow, that startled the Witch - so she claws through the door and runs past my teammates, completely ignoring all of us and disappearing. It was pretty funny at the time, but then we finished the level and it started listing off some of the stats from that level's play...and it said that the bot that had opened the door into the Witch had done 90 damage to it.
That's right - doors > Witch.

Looks like the Steam Holiday Sale has started today and will run till January 3rd next year! With up to 80%(!) discount on games, plus a super special deal that changes every 48 hours or something. Would you buy GTA4 for 7 bucks? (I just did)

The sale, in tandem with the fact that I can afford it, has finally poked me into installing Steam and buying the Valve Complete Pack - which comes with the PC versions of L4D, L4D2, TF2 and Portal, as well as Garry's Mod. The latter of which, I'll mention, has been installing on my computer for like four hours >__< almost done, though, 98%...
Soon as I get TF2 installed, I'll see how my laptop can handle it at its current settings. Then I'll take things from there, I figure. It'll be an adventure learning how to use the keyboard and mouse to control, but I look forward to facing off against you guys. Or standing beside you in battle. XD

Just had a big old spending spree on Steam.
(Beyond Good & Evil, Audiosurf, Braid, Half-Life 2 complete pack, Garry's mod and because of today's special Left 4 Dead)
Then I noticed a serious WTF I thought I should post here.
Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 can be purchased in a bundle for $52.49 (originally $69.99)
BUT purchasing L4D and L4D2 seperatly only adds up to $44.98
L4D price $7.49 (originally $29.99) EDIT: $7.49 is the 1 day sale price. L4D2 price $37.49 (originally 49.99)
EDIT: Actually it's because L4D is one of the specials for the day, that why there's such a price difference for buying the bundle/separatley. So it's only a $8 price difference for the 18 hours and 17 minutes.

Okay! I've got Steam up and running, though I'm having all sorts of problems running any games due to my laptop not really cut out for gaming. (Not enough RAM, average audio/video card, a few other this-and-thats.) But if you want to add me, my Steam ID is TEi_has_pants. I'll log back through the topic to find any Steam names of you guys that I can find.
