Okay! I've got Steam up and running, though I'm having all sorts of problems running any games due to my laptop not really cut out for gaming. (Not enough RAM, average audio/video card, a few other this-and-thats.) But if you want to add me, my Steam ID is TEi_has_pants. I'll log back through the topic to find any Steam names of you guys that I can find. Hell yeah, welcome to the PC version of TF2. Have fun grinding for hats!

One thing at a time. First I have to get used to the keyboard and mouse controls I have the bad habit of holding down the "move forward" key and using the mouse to adjust where I'm actually going...but I've only played PC TF2 once because of aforementioned laptop problems. I've managed to secure two Scout achievements, both through a fluke...but I'm on my way there! Hooah.

Oh, hey, is there some kind of trick to get Garry's mod to work? Every time I try loading it up, it gives me an error about something like HL.whatever has stopped working. It's probably just my system, but I figure there's no harm in asking.

It's probably just my system, but I figure there's no harm in asking. I haven't had you problem with GMod when I first used it. Could try the Gmod forums. When I first loaded up GMod it took AGESSSS (just stuck at the screen of the person holding the physics gun and tool gun with his back towards the screen). And I tried quitting/getting out to my desktop. After some annoyance, the problem seemed to be that my antivirus (Avast antivirus) was blocking something Half-Life related, (it came up on screen) I unblocked that and went back to GMod and everything was fine and dandy. The weird thing just noticed yesterday is that my Steam game layout says for the status Half-Life 2 games (HL2, HL:deathmatch, Epi 1, Epi 2) is "download paused." The thing is that I never tried to install/download those games! So I decided to just download HL2 and I've been playing it with no problems. I'll try playing Gmod tonight to see if anything has changed there. My idea is that maybe Gmod has to download all the HL2 items sepearatley if you don't have it installed on your system.

Yeah, a few Source games seem to do that. When I installed TF2, it apparently put HL2 on my PC too. Too bad it won't let me access it. :/

Okay, yeah, the exact same happened to me. I had the cue of all the HL2 items on my Steam download screen saying "download paused," just like yours, and I hadn't even started downloading them either. So it'll probably run once I download those things. I still have to wait a few days for it though, as I don't have enough RAM on my lappy right now, and I ordered a couple 2 gig sticks that'll (hopefully) boost my ability to play the games. I'm also having a friend help me reformat my laptop, hopefully eliminating the random shutdown issue, and he's going to put XP on the system, which apparently demands a lot less from the hardware than Vista does. Also, XP will be able to remember the view settings I have for my folders and not revert to List format every time I open the folder again - something Vista is hopelessly retarded about. (It might sound like a small pet-peeve to you, but I'm anal retentive about that sort of thing.) So, with any luck, I'll be able to play with you guys by this weekend!

Have enough Achievements TEi? You can never have enough achievements My laptop isn't really cut out for gaming, which is a sad truth I discovered last night. So I'll be investing in a new system, or investing in the parts to make a new system, and soon enough I'll actually be able to, you know, play. Also, Sandvich is awesome. <3

I'm not that good, but I didn't use an achievement server, either. XD A buddy of mine and I worked on farming achievements together because we're impatient (and it would take me forever to get new items if I tried doing it through the game). Also, the fact that my framerate goes to hell and my system lags whenever I play in a real game doesn't help. I got to play a couple rounds of Capture Point with SavageAdam last night! We wound up on opposite teams and he totally kicked my ass. XD Well done, sir! Also, ffffff I love how that trailer is a complete homage.

Heh, I hardly deserve credit for that. I spent that entire round following Heavies and Soldiers with my Medic.

Anyone want to blab about the Elder Scrolls games? I adore Morrowind, and Oblivion is fun, as well. If anyone cares, I'll ramble on about them. ^_^

Mmm, I love Oblivion. I feel I should warn anyone wanting to play the GotY addition, however...
I played it, became a vampire and hated it (you know, being damaged in the sunlight). Apparently, on the GotY version of the game, there is a glitch that makes you never be able to finish the quest to remove the vampire disease, and the only way to bypass it is to get the regular version and load up your save. A very tiresome process that only occurs on the 360 and PS3 version of the game.

I'm playing it on PC, so I don't think I'll have that issue. That, and I have God Mode on. Cheap, yes, but I have a hard time letting myself be slaughtered by a rat. XD (fun fact - the code for God Mode is my wife's initials!) Glad to see somebody else here who likes one of the two. Oblivion has been a load of fun, and they made some excellent improvements to the combat and town life. The dungeons are also cool, with their traps and such, although I do miss the diversity that the caves of Morrowind had. I'm thinking about starting up a thief in the near future. Currently I have a Nord Warrior who uses a mace and bow, and she's up to Lv. 20 or 21. She's head of the Fighter's Guild. I like to devise plots for my characters as I play...but with this one, it was more an experiment to see what my options are. (I warned you, I'm going to ramble! )

As 8bit said before, those of us with the PC version of TF2 should organise some time to play together.
Managed to play with TEi on an awesome 24/7 Egypt server, and think I managed to kill him with a flare gun. Sadly even with all the team scrambles we never ended up on the same team.
On another day I had some short time with Savage Adam on Hoodoo.
I'm personally steadly approaching the combined 100 hour mark of TF2 and managed to finally get some annoying achievements such as getting 10 kills with a single sentry and capturing the intellegence with the Sniper. Also managed to get 1000 lifetime kills today.
