Is that a cencorship?
Mario & Luigi RPG, 2x2 and 3!!! were changed to "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga", "Partners in Time" and "Bowser's Inside Story".
Yeah, game names do change across versions, and it's not always because of censorship. Although, I do know where do you see this from, seeing how Zelda game titles are usually consistent. (Still, Takt of Wind became Wind Waker, Four Swords + became Four Swords Adventures...)

lol wut?
Triforce of the Gods being removed counts as censorship because it refers to "the Gods". Mario and Luigi RPG being changed isn't censorship.
Also, I'm pretty sure the Triforce of the Gods removal was already mentioned.

Many of the Fire Emblem games have also been localised to remove religious terms. I guess these would also count.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones = Fire Emblem: Shining Stones of Holiness and Evil Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn = Fire Emblem: The Goddess of Dawn Well OK... Just those two. But two out of five officially localised is quite a lot!

Now it sound weird to me. In the above 2 FE games and A Link to the Past, only the titles are, um, edited. Content-wise, deity still exists in Zelda 3 and FE9/10.
Isn't the mention of a "dragon" in FE11 satanic?

Dragons aren't satanic - they're mythical beasts from European/Chinese folklore. Nothing to do with religion. At all.

There are no physical gods in A Link to the Past. They are only mentioned, but not by name.

There are no physical gods in A Link to the Past. They are only mentioned, but not by name. Been a decade since I stopped playing that game - and that's because I finished a few dungeons and FORGOT TO SAVE.

You do know that the King James version of the Bible was translated in the 1600's, right? It contains more "creative translations" than A Link to the Past. Even if the passage is accurate, and there were legends of dragons 2000 years ago in the Middle East (rather than 400 years ago in England) then that passage isn't saying dragons are Satanic, but that Satan breathed fire like a dragon. He also walks on legs like those of a goat, but that doesn't mean goats are satanic by association.

Amusing... but in a rage-fuelling kind of way! Even if this is just a retarded publicity stunt, the chances of other pastors trying something similar go up (perhaps by burning Bibles not printed on paper sourced from "good Christian white folk") and the world becomes just a little bit more retarded. I recommend burning people like this.

This might be in the same boat with Angel/Cupid Kirby: Blood Falcon's "Blood Hawk" is actually called the Hell Hawk in Japanese. I wonder, has the word "hell" been used in any other English-language version of a Nintendo game besides Hotel Dusk? And Donkey Kong 64! Don't forget the furore Rare caused over the DK Rap, and the later fan furore that issued when the SSBM version changed it to "Heck of a Guy". In Super Mario Galaxy, there is also the Hell Prominence Galaxy in Japanese. It was renamed Melty Molten Galaxy by NoA. I'm not sure if it counts, though, since NoA has renamed most of the galaxies, even if their original names are already English, they just love alliterations too much. Also NoE had the slot machines from Pokemon Platinum removed and replaced with "game machines" due to implementation of more aggressive and stricter legislation in the European Union towards gambling. Source. Also the dialog have also been changed because of it. Source. The Japanese, NA and Australian versions still have the slot machines. Someone also emailed Nintendo about if there would be slot machines in the upcoming HG/SS remakes, and it looks like they are getting removed as well. Source. This makes me wonder if it will affect all games with "heavy" gambling references, including past games. The Super Mario Sunshine casino, for example, or the various gambling mini-games in SM64DS and NSMB. Maybe this is also a reason why there is still no announcement for Chibi-Robo! 3 outside of Japan, I read that a casino and gambling have a quite important part there.

I just noticed this interesting detail: You know, Dr. Mario 64 was never released for the N64 in Japan, and was included in Nintendo Puzzle Collection for the GameCube instead. Here is the character selection screen in the Puzzle Collection version (very small, but for the detail it's enough): You see the squid boss in the middle (known from Wario Land 3), called Ikatakotengu in Japanese? In the English version of Dr. Mario 64, he is named Octo. Well, and now take a look at the same screen in the English version: Notice the difference? Yeah, it's the colour of Octo. In Wario Land 3, he generally had a black head. But for Dr. Mario 64, NoA changed the colour to orange, yet Octo retained his actual colour scheme in the later Japanese release. It's quite obvious why NoA did that, to avoid another claim because of reputed "blackface" after Jynx, even though Octo is even less human-like. My last find this year. Happy New Year to everyone!

When watching videos of WarioWare: D.I.Y. at both the Japanese and American websites, I noticed notable differences in one of Mona's games. The pictures speak for themselves: No, I don't just mean that MIO got changed to DIY.
