Okay, here are some possible ones that can be playable character #3 that we already mentioned: * Bass (Mega Man 7) * Roll (Mega Man 1) * Dr. Wily (Mega Man 1) * Duo (Mega Man 8) * Doropie (Magical Kids Doropie) / Francesca (The Krion Conquest) Who else is possible? I'm guessing the next one is a brand-new character. As I mentioned above, Franziska von Karma and Amaterasu. Also, didn't Roll first appear in Megaman 3?

I HIGHLY doubt Doropie or Francesca would have a chance. Similar games, yes, but neither were developed by Capcom, and I think they'd shoehorn their own characters into their game over somebody else's.
And Roll did briefly appear in Mega Man 1 in the end, if Wikipedia's not mistaken. She was in 3 as well, but not in appearance. Her bio popped up in the end, before Mega Man and Protoman's.

Someone mentioned Dr. Light here, if I'm not mistaken. Or maybe Cut Man, I posit.
Huh. I really like that word lately. Posit. Weird.

Of course Doropie/Francesca is very unlikely, but fans of her in Japan might be requesting her as a special guest, like Link appearing in Soul Calibur II, and Takamaru in Samurai Warriors III. Magical Kids Doropie was a little more successful and popular in Japan, due to having some interesting cut scenes like the ones in the NES, TG-16 and SNES Ninja Gaiden games. It is now available for cell phones only in Japan. The Krion Conquest was a terribly localized version of it lacking the great cut scenes (except for the intro, but with her head modified as a boring still image), and is more difficult to beat than the Japanese version.

Krion's Quest is even more obscure then your general Sunsoft game.
I guess the only reason you keep mentioning her is because you want to point out so badly that Doropie's using Megaman's sprites as basis. I don't think that's a free ticket to appear as a guest character, but hey MAYBE THAT'S JUST ME.

I think if Doropie had a chance at being in a Megaman game, it would have already happened. Megaman & Doropie, rather than Megaman & Bass? So, probably not.

Thing is, this a main-series game, so I doubt Capcom's going to shoehorn their own characters into this, no less someone else's. We'll see, but don't get your hopes up. If this were some kind of cross-over, it'd be viable, but it's a main series Mega Man game.

I'm not trying to support Doropie, and I know she's very unlikely to appear in it, not only because of what you all said, but also Vic Tokai put their game developing business to a halt and switched to a networking company. Despite that, they can still re-release their games. It's still a nice theory I brought up, though.
If the third playable character is a special guest character, then it might either be a character from another Capcom game (e.g. Arthur from the Ghosts 'n' Goblins/Ghouls 'n' Ghosts series), a character from a game not by Capcom (e.g. Doropie/Francesca), or a character from a different type of media (e.g. anime).

Wait, you don't care about Doropie and you know she's unlikely to appear, yet you suggested she'd be the third character in a mainline Mega Man game because her game's developer left the development business!?what. @_@

Frogbog, perhaps you're taking this a mite too seriously. Fun speculation is fun.

I'm just trying to help out by bringing up a theory. It all started when I was looking around for interesting MUGEN creations, until I saw a fan-made MUGEN game developed and released by someone by the username SUGIO in Japan that is about Famicom games fighting each other, and Doropie came with it. That's when I became curious about her and looked her game up. She may sound unlikely, but take a look at this official webpage. It looks like Genki either bought this or all of Vic Tokai's entire video game library or just ported the game to cell phones with permission from Vic Tokai. Does this prove anything about it? I'm guessing it's based on its popularity in Japan, but this may not mean much, because it is unknown whether or not that Capcom and Vic Tokai lack or have good relationship with each other or Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune really liked or disliked Doropie. It is also unknown if there will be another Doropie game or not, but if you highly doubt there will be another one, then how do you explain about the Wii version of A Boy & His Blob, the upcoming new Joe & Mac game, the Puyo Pop series, and other retro video games originally created by defunct companies that were later brought back by another? Anyway, I wonder if there will be a Mega Man IV (RockMan World IV in Japan) for DSiWare, which I mean the sequel to Mega Man V (RockMan World V in Japan) for Game Boy? If the Game Boy succeeded over every non-Nintendo handheld, then why am I not hearing about it much other than a few of its most popular games like Tetris, Zelda: Link's Awakening and Pokemon Red/Blue/Green/Yellow? I see a lot of Flash animations and fan projects that are often based on NES games, but I only saw one that is based on Super Mario Land.

What's he to be envious of, Parrot? You're alright and all, but for the most part, you can come off as very confusing and difficult to understand. Might I add, that Doropie illustration on that page really reminds me of the Puyo Puyo original artworks. Meh, kind of. (Heheh, "Frogbog"...Frogog from SMRPG...God damn.)

And you are right, practice makes perfect, but no one is perfect. The artworks do look so similar, they might of been drawn by the same artist.

Meh, I've been sitting in the sidelines, but I'm gonna throw this out.
The third character is Roll, no doubt about it. In MegaMan Powered Up, you played as Mega, MegaMan, Roll, Protoman, and all the bosses. In this game, MegaMan and Protoman are the only released playable characters, and they are also the only similar characters this game has with Powered Up (excluding Mega, because he was basically Roll with no weapons.).
Roll was a special character in Powered Up meant to make the game harder (she fought close range with a broom and other downloadable weapons) so I have no doubt that she'll be playable in this game.
On the other hand, Parrot brought up Arthur, and Powered Up had a ton of Ghosts and Goblins stuff in it, so....whatever.
