Rumor has been going around that the starters are a Fire Snake, a Water Dolphin and a Grass Goat. Seems plausible, but, obviously, I'd await confirmation. The Snake could be based on the Salamander, that one's obvious. But the credence I give to this is based on the fact that there is a mythological grass goat! Or lamb, rather.

A dolphin would be the next awesome thing after a penguin, but they never use non-walking-capable Pokémon as Water-type starters. In other words, Pokémon not of the Water 1 Egg group.

You mean like this?Well, I was referring to Piplup, Prinplup and Empoleon. I think they do that to keep starters imaginable as creatures that can go with you anywhere. That's useful when making them partners for anime/manga protagonists.

Yeah, the whole Water-starter thing that Johans pointed out would make it a kinda odd starter 'mon. Ofcourse it could actually be something like Gible only more Dolphin like.
Either way a grass goat would be tubular

Crap . . . I'm still hoping it would finally be a original starting trio (not fire, water, grass).
Yes, I know it's a rumor but still . . .

Crap . . . I'm still hoping it would finally be a original starting trio (not fire, water, grass). Yes, I know it's a rumor but still . . . Fighting, Dark, Psychic? It would be sweet, but the three elements are established enough that I think people would be upset if we didn't see them. And besides: some types, esp. Fire, hardly get ANY new additions BUT the starters (think 4th gen and 3rd gen) I like the starter shadows, if those are legit. The snake and dolphin would definitely be unconventional, but clever. Kinda kills me though because those are basically my starter ideas (a snake and a icthyosaur) If these are the real deal, and if I know the Pokemon guys like I think I do: goat would evolve into giant Grass/Rock or some other "earth-type" ram; snake would evolve into a dragon-like serpent, probably Fire/Poison or Fire/Dark; and the dolphin would probably become terrestrial to some extent and NOT gain a secondary type. If I get those guesses right, you all owe me a couple bucks/euros. p.s. what are the other "trios" of types? I know there's a list somewhere. I can think of Rock, Flying, Grass or Fire, Ice, Ground. Also Electric, Water, Ground. Probably a buttload of others

I doubt we'll see anything other than GrassFireWater starters. Why fix what isn't broken? Besides, it's a nice way to ease new gamers into the typematching mechanic.
Also if the rumor is true (it's unlikely, but I need something to bitch about), it looks like 5Gen will uphold the pattern of me not liking the grass-type starter. A goat? Seriously? Why couldn't have been something awesome, like a pumpkin? Pumpkins are the shit!

Probably a buttload of others You'd have to search "perfect triangle" or similar terms in Pokémon forums. There are very few that follow the pattern: 1 --> super effective --> 2 --> super effective --> 3 --> super effective --> 1 1 <-- not very effective <-- 2 <-- not very effective <-- 3 <-- not very effective <-- 1 I can list these including the traditional one. Fighting-Rock-Flying Poison-Grass-Ground Steel-Rock-Fire Fire-Grass-Water I doubt we'll see anything other than GrassFireWater starters. Why fix what isn't broken? Besides, it's a nice way to ease new gamers into the typematching mechanic. Well, I agree with this. It just makes it intuitive.

Thanks for the lightning response.
Yeah that image's bogus. Those shadows are prrrretty smooth compared to everything else in the picture. Also what's the point of having a goatmon when it doesn't have a goatee

Baby goat. Obviously fully evolved goat would have a goatee.
And I think the dolphin's fin walking.

Didn't bother to comment it before, but the "goat" creature even looks like it has already evolved once.
I'm done talking about that fail picture; you people carry on with your fun ;D

I just hope they finally have a Hummingbird Pokemon... I've been waiting for that since Gen 3 was announced.
