Kamiya also revealed that he was working on a 3D shooting game for Capcom many years ago, but when he discovered Star Fox 64, he gave up because the classic title was too satisfying and he felt there was no need for his own game. He praised Star Fox 64 for its unique scenario and "heated battles."
I'm not sure I want a company whose head developer has that sort of work ethic to take charge of a game franchise I like. "O shit, [Game Company X] made an on-rails shooter that's really awesome, I guess I'd better give up on Star Fox!" It's unprofessional.
Still, he made Okami...
(Bayonetta can suck my balls, though. It's identical to God of War, except instead of Kratos , the protagonist is a naked, proportionally fucked-up lady. Note to Hideki Kamiya: there is no woman in the world that looks like your character.)

I can find more women in the world that look like Bayonetta than who look like most other video game women. Bobble-head animu shite be damned.

Most of the women around here look like Karnov Whatever you think of their output, both Okami and Bayonetta have been revered as astounding action games. And I don't think it's bad for a highly esteemed and in-vogue action game developer to want to take the reins of a series that has forgotten that it's fundamentally an action series. I'm guessing his comment about Star Fox 64 was based on when it was in-development or recently released. And I think it's true - even the Star Fox series has failed to live up to it, so if you were designing a similar game at the time you'd probably think "Ah, we'll only be slated for not being as good." Japanese developers must hate Shigeru Miyamoto sometimes.

Bayonetta's ridiculously tiny head, which is perched on her tremendous man-shoulders, situated somewhere above her wasp-waist, gargantuan hips, and giraffe-neck-length knees.

I'm prone to feel anyone who would cop out on a game just because another game is probably not the guy I want making my game, that said, the fact that he requested gunpoint makes for an interesting concept. While obviously gunpoint would be beyond ridiculous, if Kamiya has actually bailed on a game because of Star Fox 64, we have two things here: First off, Kamiya is CLEARLY a Star Fox fan. Second off, and this is the important one, Kamiya wants to make a Star Fox game, period. If he's at gunpoint, he's going to make it. Of course, he's probably actually attempting to convey the message "Don't let me stop," as opposed to literally making Star Fox at gunpoint.

I'll be glad to see any developer wanting to develop any Nintendo franchise-based game. Nintendo will be the publisher and will ensure the quality - and since Nintendo themselves don't seem to want to bother, it's best to have other make them than making the series frozen.

Nintendo is not infallible when it comes to ensuring the quality of their franchises...I don't know. I think the franchise is done, personally. There are five Star Fox games: the first was great, the second was incredible. Following that, we had Star Fox Adventures and Star Fox Command, both of which were poopy, and Star Fox Assault, which was really "meh." I'd rather relive the past with Star Fox and Star Fox 64, because everything after that has failed to live up to its predecessors.

Adventures wasn't meant to be Star Fox. That was more politics than anything that made that entry "poopy." Assault I heard was forgettable, but I thought Command was decent from what I've read. No?

Well if by decent you "mean has like seven different endings all of which have to do with Fox x Krystal bullshit", then I guess yeah.

Wasn't one of the endings her becoming a lone, emo wanderer called KURSED? How about the gameplay though? I heard it was pretty much like Starfox 2 which I found pretty fun.

I've said it before, but I loved Star Fox Assault. You had on-rails Arwing stages with some incredible set-pieces and boss battles, and you had arena-style levels with the only difference being that you sometimes have to get out of your ship and blow shit up.
People complain about the on-foot sections, but you're running around street-level Corneria while an alien invasion is going on, which is awesome! You're destroying swarms of Aparoids. You have loads of guns and you basically just shoot everything (none of this "don't use your blaster!" shit from SFAdv). You ride on the wing of a Wolfen, for crying out loud!
It's true the on-foot sections aren't the most thrilling part of the game, but they really provide a sense of scale to the aerial battles.
My problem with Star Fox Command was that it was boring. You slowly work your way across a map for 5 minutes, fight for about 3 minutes and then it's back to the map. There's so little variety in the battles either. It did take a lot of ideas from Star Fox 2, but it lacks any sense of epic scale... Something that made Star Fox and Star Fox 64 stand out (and Star Fox Assault, but only if you're me).
Hell, even Adventures had an epic scale. It just wasn't a good Star Fox game. And that's being kind.

QFT I've been saying this about Assault for years, but everyone is one the "want SF64 again train". I think the foot missions really compliment the Arwing action, and helps make the multi player much more fun than otherwise. Plus the on foot in Assault is about a million times better than the foot battles in Star Fox 64.

I loved Star Fox and Star Fox 64, and Assault felt like a true sequel to those games with some extra on-foot shooting arenas, wing-walking and so on. Why not?
And I omitted to mention that soundtrack. OMFG, that is one of the best game soundtracks ever!

I'm rather fond of Assault's menu music myself.
