I have to say I'm a little disappointed that this is just a port of Super Mario All-Stars with a few extras thrown in. I would have wanted to see something a little more ambitious to justify something that was a bargain purchase 17 years ago, and is pretty much going for the same money today.
Considering we've had further updates to every game in the package thanks to the SMB Deluxe and SM Advance games, if this is just the original Super Mario All-Stars then it's not worth anything as far as I'm concerned.
In a reasonable world I'd want to see at least: 1. SMB, SMB:TLL, SMB2, SMB3, SMW, SML, SML2 2. All games presented in their original form. 3. All games presented in updated SMAS-style forms (definitely would want to see this from the GB games) 4. All updates from later releases (e.g. e-Reader levels in SMB3, Red Coin + Yoshi Egg challenge in SMB) available as bonus content or an unlockable.
That, at its most basic level, would justify this as a purchase.
In an ideal world: 1. SMB, SMB:TLL, SMB Special, SMB2, SMB3, SMW, SMB G&W, SML, SML2, SM64 2. All games to be presented in their original format (as above) 3. Forget SMAS updates, I'd want all games to be presented with NSMBWii updates, including graphics, gameplay changes, etc. They wouldn't be exactly like the originals, but it would be more fun to play TLL (for example) with those kinds of updates. 4. All extras as bonus content or unlockables (as above).

1. SMB, SMB:TLL, SMB2, SMB3, SMW, SML, SML2 Whether there are any additional titles in this game or not, I just would like to see more love for the Super Mario Land games in general. Both sold best, especially the first one, and yet there are hardly any references to the games, excluding Daisy and Wario and their profiles, while the much lesser known Mario & Wario is referenced about as often (nothing against cameos for obscure games, but still). One thing I like about the SML series are the unique settings and enemies. In the SMB side-scrollers (not counting the Doki Doki Panic-based SMB2), Mario visits areas such as grasslands, deserts, underground caves, ghost houses, castles and the sky again and again. But how often do you see areas based on the Easter Islands or China in those games, and how often does Mario get into a submarine, a whale, is shrunk to ant-size in an average house, and visit a level made out of N&B blocks inside a giant statue of himself? The 3D platformers offer a more versatile selection of settings, but I'm missing such surprises in the side-scrollers. Anyway, even if this version of Super Mario All-Stars is simply a port (or just an emulation of the SNES game, rather), I'm still curious about the booklet.

Since it is just a port of SMAS, I won't bother with this. After all, both my SNES and SMAS cart are still in good working order, which means I'll just be paying £30 or so just for the booklet.

Pictures of the game have been posted on ComputerAndVideogamescom.. I definitely looks like they've upgraded the graphics again. It looks like there's going to be a soundtrack with the game as well as the booklet.

Don't think they did upgrade the graphics. And the soundtrack CD and booklet have been discussed since long ago. It looks like the booklet and the CD are taking up an entire Wii box, in New SMB Wii red. For those who haven't seen this, the Mario 25th anniversary website: www.nintendo.co.jp/mario25th/top.html

I suppose this will work here as well as a new thread - Super Mario Bros. is 25 years old as of today! Crazy! I'll be working on some features later on regarding this, but for now, happy 25th, Mario!

SMAS is confirmed for a European release this December! And of course it contains the history book and soundtrack CD. Now Japan is also getting another Mario 25th aniverary product. A red Wii! That also comes with red Wii Remote Plus controller (built in MotionPlus) But most important is that classic Super Mario Bros is packed in . . . but wait that's not all! Every ? Block has now been changed to say 25!

I'm not sure whether the blocks are amazing or retarded. Someone should invent a new adjective that combines them.

Can't get crazier than All Night Nippon, can it?
At least it's not just an identical port.

I need more info on the book and music CD included before I buy this thing. I already have these four games on Virtual Console and also Super Mario Advance 4 on GBA.
