I've been playing a lot of Konami's Parodius-games lately. The series are a tongue-in-cheek parody of Gradius-series, and sometimes it does even parody other Konami's games (mostly in Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodius)
At first I didn't get the massive loads of references and mockery in Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodius, but after watching this one channel in Youtube that has a lot of Konami's JPN-only games, I discovered that Parodius-series seems to have a lots of elements crammed there from other Konami's games instead of just Gradius.
So I thought of starting my video-series similar to CrappyCaptureDevice's "History Behind Smash Bros"-videos, titled History Pehind Parodius. The video's are pretty much same like HBSS by covering where the characters' powerup sets, stage elements and music come from. (-lwl-) I've been playing many other Konami-games too, so I'm sure it will be not hard for me to start it up.
So guys, any advices or comments you want to tell?

Play every friggen Konami game so you can cover all cameo's without having to update and reupload videos?
It'd be neat if you manage to cover all of 'em. Especially the later games in the series are stuffed with cameo's most people don't know about. In fact only a few months ago I finally figured out that that highschool level was based on some Konami dating sim game.

Besides, Parodius didn't continue on after 1997, so pretty much every Konami-game before that qualifies to be played- Also it helps to look for information. Tokimeki Memorial, you mean? I have this one pal that helps me to find the references- he wanted to show them once, but he thinks WMM is not an ideal of a video maker, so he couldn't make a video. I'm using better freeware movie maker, so my videos won't be that awful-looking. (-lwl-)

Started it. I thought of starting from showing small overview on Parodius's start.
I suggest that you watch this on Youtube. I made this in HD quality and the screensize is pretty big.

This was made pretty fast, lawl. This shows where Vic Viper and Pentarou get their themes from. (-lvl-)
I'd like to hear something from ya guys- would be appreciated. I'm whole the time working on this project, looking for those references and shout outs: I've succeeded on finding lot, by looking at some foreign sites. Lucky!

Here's the video covering basic information about the bells in Parodius. This doesn't cover their powers yet, though.
I've improved on this one now, so you might give this one a shot.

I should've said something sooner, but these are pretty entertaining videos. Nicely done, except that sometimes the text disappears before I finish reading it.

Yeah, these are pretty well done. The text does disappear pretty fast though and sometimes I miss it entirely because the small fond isn't very noticable, but you're already working on fixing that.
Never knew there was an actual bell pattern in the Parodius games.

(And yep, improving on the font too) Pretty good thing then that I covered that up.

I might say it 's been STONE AGES since I updated this, but something I wanted to show you Castlefania-fans /though it's old too/
Now I tried to find out most of the stuff where things are based on. I've found a lot so far, especially in Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodus (which has SO MUCH REFERENCES that IT EVEN RIVALS SSBB, holy crap). Mostly this comes from playing the games and also reading the japanese fan sites and Parodius-articles from japanese Wikipedia.

I got myself Sony Vegas Pro 10 and seeing how much more I can do with it compared to more mediocre Videopad-movie editor, thought of trying to get myself familiarized with it's functions for my project. So I made another music-coverring video. Bear with me with some FPS scrolling issues, it's only 29 fps here, making the gameoplay footage bit too smooth and blurred. (-=.l-); (Next time I'll post a video in 60 fps format which should be better.)
The humor for these videos is intentional and don't necessarily reflect my core sense of humor (for instance, I don't really like to crack indecent jokes.)
But do tell me what ya think of this. I tried to emphasize more on timing so hopefully the text doesn't disappear too quickly and such like in previous videos.
Twinbee's Weapon Set is next. Hope you're ready for that footage sometime soon!

The text's fine, although I don't think this particular piece of info should be made in the form of a 4-minute video. You basically spent 4 minutes telling us where do two pieces of music come from, while maybe 1.5 minutes of video (or less) would do (embed it into other introductory videos, perhaps), and just link anyone interested to external resources containing such music.

You basically spent 4 minutes telling us where do two pieces of music come from, while maybe 1.5 minutes of video (or less) would do (embed it into other introductory videos, perhaps), and just link anyone interested to external resources containing such music. I kinda see where you come from. I tried to follow how CCD did it with Smash Bros History-videos and noticed that his music history-videos seem to be about 2-4 mins long. On the other hand, I dunno why it should be 1.5 minutes long... I think it's maybe TOO SHORT for it's own good, along with trying to compare both songs between the source song and it's version in Parodius. Later songs in next games would also be even medleys or two songs stringed to one track so I can't really promise to make this short videos to cover music. Going on, I dunno why I should try to embed the music history-videos to other videos (as an introduction) because Parodius-music is also a notable part of the series in it's own right, and should be reviewed over in their own category. Going on, since CCD could do it without people complaining that the music doesn't really deserve few minutes long of videos to cover their history, then I don't see why I can't. Besides, I wonder if there's people who have always wondered that "where they have heard this familiar-yet-not-able-to-name-it public domain soundtrack from", in cartoons and such. Thus why I show if they might've been used in them (in this case in Museum Scream) I might though cut that out to some degree or even completely out if necessary to make the video not very lengthy as you said. Anyway, I think I try to consider the length (and content) bit more next time. But I try to also make the videos have gone through the reguirements for showcasing the history in proper ways (showing the source and then comparing it to Parodius, maybe also familiarize people where THEY might've heard it from, though it's still to be considered if I will really emphasize on doing so.)

I can see why would you think staying this way is the right thing to do. Maybe it isn't the music length that I should talk about; rather, I'd say it's the part where I have to stare at a mostly-audio video (well, with muted gameplay and such) just to read the text that I feel uncomfortable with. Video, as a medium, isn't exactly the best way to convent chunks of text that shows up - in any speed or interval too, I'd say, since people have different reading speed and attention span. I myself, for example, prefer to have the text set aside to the comment section, read it, and just move to something else as nothing particularly interesting (it's not a TAS, not a longplay, and not even general gameplay video in full; just clips of gameplay videos without the sound effects present) is in the video part. Sorry for the confusion, I guess.
Also, on the video itself (not its presentation): Not familiar with cartoons and such myself, and having the SFC as my prominent "childhood game system", I feel the opposite to most people - whenever someone plays certain classical pieces, I think Parodius.
