With Man-frog's sage advice I decided to start a Steam thread up here, since the third party thread was cluttered with TF2 talk and I need that thread to spam Megaman Universe levels later
So yes, this is the thread to yap about TF2 from now on, notify people of super awesome Steam deals and convince other people why you should totally buy that one adventure game in the store.
You could even add other members to your friendlist! (then never play together because there's too much of a time difference)Anyway let me start with this spoooooky Halloween sale that's going on right now. Ghostbusters for 10 bucks! WoahAlso TF2 has a new update. For those who thought it wasn't MMORPGish enough, it has boss battles now. .....Yup

And now my copy of TF2 just decides to uninstall itself . . . I saw this on the TF2 Steam forums (which descibes the problem exactly), but still don't know how to fix it.

Yeah really. Why don't we have a Team Fortress 2/Valve/Steam related thread? Wouldn't it go in the Third Party board? Okay, so it's in General chat. Too bad

Didn't BooDestroyer or someone else bring it up before me, though?

Question: Say I want to buy a game through the Online Steam store. I pay with PayPal and say that I'm in Chile. How is it that they send the game? I'm asking this because I've been playing Left 4 Dead (a friend lent it to me, but I can't play online), so I want to buy it and buy Left 4 Dead 4 along with it (maybe even Team Fortress 2), but I don't know all the "technicalities" of buying things online (not even sites like eBay). Help would be appreciated.

Help would be appreciated. You purchase the game for download, essentially. A physical copy isn't mailed to you. ANYWAY!TF2 Halloween related help needed!I've spent the past couple days working on the TF2 Hallowe'en stuff this year, and it's been nothing short of a frustrating endeavor for me and my friends. I mean, I got lucky - I killed the Horseless Headless Horseman and got both the related mask and his unique, haunted crafting Metal, but I have friends who are struggling. We're also having a bitch of a time getting our hands on the "spooky gift" drops that appear on Mann Manor; there's always one or two jackholes on the server that will run around as a scout and camp spawn locations, and will get the gift every. Freaking. Time. So here's mah proposition. We need at least ten people on Mann Manor to make the spooky gift drops to start, well, dropping; I currently have four people who are up for it (myself included), and two more potential candidates, but I figured I would extend the invitation to you guys as well. It'd essentially be an Idling Party - everybody would be there to shoot the shit, hunt for the spooky gift drops, and in between we could help farm the seasonal achievements for those who need it. At the end of the session, all the masks found will be pooled and divvied up, just to make things fair. We would run an all-talk, password-protected server, and everybody involved are people I know and trust, so you don't have to worry about being shafted. And though we need at least four people (for the time being), anybody and everybody who is interested is welcome to join in. I don't have an exact date or time, but we've got up through November 8th to figure something out. Let me know if you're interested.

Didn't BooDestroyer or someone else bring it up before me, though? Maybe, but I'm still referring to you in the first post! You ought to be proud]TF2 Halloween related help needed! Ha, it's looking more like a MMO already. Looking for Heavy to tank headless horseman ;D But hey sure, why not. I'm not sure if my internet can handle servers overseas (the one time I joined Da Robot I lagged out every 60 seconds, 4 times in a row) but if you decide to do it some American hours that don't translate to crazy European times I suppose I could give it a try. Do it between 18:00-23:00 GMT+1 and a buddy of mine might just join aswell. Question: Say I want to buy a game through the Online Steam store. I pay with PayPal and say that I'm in Chile. Help would be appreciated. Like TEi said all games bought via the online Steam store are digital copies. The moment the purchase is complete the game'll show up in your library. When it's greyed out (not installed) just right-click and select intsall, it'll start downloading right away and will be playable the moment it's done. I suppose the downside is you'll need to use Steam and have an internet connection to start playing the game, but unlike Ubisoft's awful DRM you don't get booted immediately the moment internet connection is lost (in fact I think you only need to be online for a moment for it to verify stuff, then you can start up games without a connection) and unlike D2Drive you will always be able to redownload the game on any other machine for free. Also some big new releases can be pre-downloadded about a week before release, so your slow internet can take it's time to download the new Fallout. You can't play it before the official release date though. It's a crazy world. Not sure what you mean by "technicalities" of buying things online'' so I'm just gonna explain as if you're new to Paypal: Using Paypal's easy. If you haven't done it yet, you can register using your e-mail (adresses like @hotmail work too) and after filling out some details you can transfer money from your bank account to your new Paypal account. This may take awhile, but once the money's there you can easily use your Paypal account to pay online. You can also link your bank account directly to your Paypal account. Whenever there's not enough or no cash at all on your Paypal, it'll directly take it from your bank account. This is way faster and so far I've never had problems with it... just make sure you have enough dough on your actual bank account before purchasing stuff

Oh everything would happen in US times, since everybody I've recruited so far (and actively plan to recruit) lives on this side of the pond. (18:00 GMT+1 would translate to...*thinks* five hours ahead of EST, so 23:00 on the eastern US. Okay, yeah, that's a good time for us. He's welcome to join in ;D) But just so I can start planning, what times are good/bad for you, and what's your time zone?

If you still need people, I could probably help you out TEi. Anything for the Saxton Mask.

I figured you'd be on board, Adam. The more help we can get, the better! (Also, to be honest I'm not entirely sold on the Saxton mask. I mean, having the achievement will be nice, but I love the class-specific masks too. I'm a collector, though, so I'll need freakin' eighteen masks by the time this is all said and done 678jkuytydtre)

But just so I can start planning, what times are good/bad for you, and what's your time zone? Alrighty, don't have anything to do this Sunday so I guess I'm available between 11:00 and 23:00 GMT+1 (5:00 - 17:00 EST) The following week days that'll ussually be between 18:00 and 22:00 (12:00 - 16:00 EST) so if you happen to be able to work something out between those times then it'd be great

The amiable nature between Telltale and Valve continues, as preordering Telltale's Poker Night at the Inventory grants a new TF2 hat for the Heavy - a poker visor. Furthermore, five more TF2 items will be available by actually playing the game: The Enthusiast's Timepiece - Tycho's watch, equippable by the Spy The Iron Curtain - a new minigun for the Heavy The Lugermorph - a second chance to unlock this item, available for the Scout and Engineer Max's Badge - can be worn by all classes Dangeresque, Too? - Strongbad's shades that can be worn by the Demoman. Ha! I knew they would do this. Pre-ordered already though, it's from Telltale so it's bound to be funny. By the way secretly hoping there'll be a second character from each game (Scout, Sam, Homestar and Gaben?)
Also really wondering what Tycho will sound like.
