I hope the follow up to the Wii U is an always-on home hub... So there's a chance the name will become "Wii On U" ;D
This whole thing is bizarre. Nintendo has just shown an HD home console, backwards compatible with old games AND hardware, courting hardcore gamers and third parties, named it after their most successful home console since the SNES...
And everyone's kicking the shit out of it! I mean seriously, what the hell?!
Worse, everyone's retrospectively kicking the shit out of the Wii... again, the most successful console of this generation, the most profitable and the only one with Mario Galaxy on it. I rest my case.
Nintendo could have done with showing a game running on the hardware at the conference. If the game is due out in 2012, there must be software lined up for it that wouldn't fit on GameCube or Wii hardware (ahem, NSMBMii, Mii demos). That couldn't have helped their case.
But that's kinda how they unveiled the DS and Wii as well. They focused on the controls.
I guess what's changed between then and now is that showing off new control methods isn't a huge surprise as everybody's doing it. Nintendo now has to address their other issue of hardcore games... and while they promised to deliver this, apparently the world wanted them to deliver it yesterday.
Just show SSB4 running on Wii U, Nintendo! That'll sort your stock prices out ;D

And everyone's kicking the shit out of it! I mean seriously, what the hell?! I actually haven't seen much of that. The general consensus I've gotten from gaming media and gaming communities is that Nintendo "won" E3 again this year. I've seen mostly positive comments on other forums about the Wii U and its controller. If the worst thing the majority of people are going to complain about is the name, then things are going pretty well for Nintendo.

Here's a bunch of trailers Rhythm Heaven (Wii) trailer. Yes, it does use buttons, NO MOTION CONTROLS, stop worrying. Mario Party 9 trailer (If hudson's gone, who's making it?) It seems strange how the four characters are all together in a car going around the board though . . . The rock climbing game (at 0:57) reminds of GIRP. Fortune Street. The first time Itktagi Street has been released outside of Japan. Think Mario and Dragon Quest characters playing a Monopoly like/real estate/stock holding board game. Well at least it's different to MP9 Super Fossil Fighters The game no one cared about gets a sequel! (The original wasn't even released in Europe). Kirby Mass Attack Nintendo says it's a "side scrolling real time strategy game"

That thing... does strike a resemblance with Nightmare.
Might as well be the first RTS game I buy. I'm generally not interested in controlling tons of characters at once, but this is a Kirby game.

There's appears to be another Wii U tech demo game. Measure Up.
