I've been meaning to make a video of what I would do personally insofar as content for a new SSB game should be like. I guess now's as good a time as any.
I'm officially no longer concerned about Falco not being in the series. Pretty much every character who's been in at least two iterations of the game is safe, IMO.
Except Jigglypuff. I mean, she's been on the chopping block for the past two games.

Here's to two more years of baffling smash rumours
PS I heard they're axing the Ice Climbers and replacing them with Nintendog who will pop up and block your view if your DS Nintendogs aren't well fed, spread the word

The dude with the sword in Kid Icarus could be in Smash 4. I mean, both are Sakurai games And Zoroark is an expectable possibility. No sixth Pokémon generation will appear in the following 2~3 years.

The more protagonists, the better. But I'm sure that Nintendo will mostly focus on characters that will advertise games that will be released near SSB4's release date. Reintroducing some that not many have heard of before or forgot might hurt their minds as much as learning things from preschool to college they don't feel like learning. However, before SSB64 was released, I was mostly focusing on major franchises. As soon as I saw Ness and others I haven't heard much about, they changed the way I looked at Nintendo. When SSBM came out, it became more interesting, thanks to Mr. Game & Watch, Marth, Roy and probably the Ice Climbers. But when SSBB was announced, I was excited and scared at the same time. The weekly announcements of one thing that would then appear in SSBB such as music, items, Assist Tropies and others was one of the things that made me addicted to night-shifting ever since. The other was college homework. My parents have been complaining about me night-shifting a lot, and wanted me to spend more time with them, but I didn't feel like doing that, because I don't know what to do with them, while there are so many things going on online, making me anxious about them. The first few things I saw that I disliked were the representation of Nintendogs and the Metal Gear series. I dislike seeing nasty paws, it makes me feel like I'm about to smell stinky dogs. For Solid Snake's inclusion, I was like " Yikes! I'm about to hear Sonic fans rage out loud for their favorite blue hedgehog. " As soon as the whole playable character and Assist Trophy rosters were revealed, I was disappointed, but I was thankful for Marth and Mr. Game & Watch to return, as well as Saki Amamiya, the Helirin, Starfy, Ray MK III, the Devil from Devil World and some other lesser-known characters to appear as Assist Trophies. Despite not having any lesser-known characters in the playable roster, I bought SSBB because of the online multiplayer feature. SSBB was the last thing I bought at a Circuit City before the whole company filed for bankruptcy and became something else. When the gameplay didn't seem as exciting as I thought, I haven't been playing it much nor any other Wii title. Mostly DS and 3DS titles, as well as retro console emulators for the DS. And since then, I started to take a rest from studying about the company Nintendo and became curious about other companies. From the well-known ones like Konami and SNK, to the lesser-known ones like HOT-B and recently Fuuki. Now that SSB4 is announced as being under development, I will do my best to avoid causing a spamfest of "You're stupid! No! You're stupid!" arguments, and speculate on what Nintendo will probably be focusing on, instead of just creating a massive list of lesser-known characters I hope to see in SSB4, especially as playable characters. The 3DS Virtual Console that includes Game Boy games will increase the chance of seeing protagonists and mascots of Game Boy titles like Alice from Balloon Fight GB / Balloon Kid, Muddy Mole from Mole Mania, and the Sabure Prince from For the Frog the Bell Tolls. I also would like to see the Solar Striker appear as an Assist Trophy, as well as some music from Alleyway in the Pictochat stage and Radar Mission in probably either SteelDivers or Nintendo Wars stages if they were created.

Sakurai's team is behind it, and therefore I'm confident it will straddle that line between well-known and who-the-hell-is-that characters... That's what makes the series so wonderful!
And the constant site updates were awesome. Sure, the online debate was stupid and mental... but Smash Bros. remains one of the best game series for us nutty Nintendo fans.
Any chance of DLC this time around do you think? And will there be more third party franchises, or less?

My bet its that this time we are getting tons of third party characters, Im not even going to discus who should be in, because knowing Sakurai from the last three games, we are going ot have whoever he wants (and don't tell me Solid snake has ever had a strong presence on Nintendo systems)

Hey! Wouldn't it be cool if some characters are exclusive to one version or the other? Connecting both 3DS and Wii U would enable you to transfer characters to either version... much like how you can do with Pokemon games!
Maybe the 3DS version might have some characters who appeared mostly on portable consoles (Lucas, Matthew or Isaac, Tingle, Toon Link, Toon Zelda, Starfy, Muddy Mole, etc.) while the Wii U version might have characters who appeared mostly on home consoles (Ness, Saki or Isa, Ganondorf, Link, Zelda, Olimar, Little Mac, etc.)
Imagine that... customizable rosters!

and don't tell me Solid snake has ever had a strong presence on Nintendo systems Maybe not, but Nintendo characters HAVE had a strong presence in MGS games In all seriousness, I'm sure we have plenty of new characters to expect. Especially the ones that have been reborn thanks to Brawl (such as Little Mac and Saki). Not to mention all the characters who'll be redone to match their current designs. I'm sure we'll have Skyward Sword Link and Other M Samus.

If Nintendo needs to make SSB4 be able to qualify in tournaments more than its predecessors, the most important thing for them to focus is "balance". I kept hearing in this Top 5 Fighting Games video by JewWario the word "balance". In order to make the roster well-balanced, sometimes Nintendo needs to replace one character with another that will help balance it out, whether they are popular or not. Protagonists are the best choice, because they are like "The Mario" of their own games and franchises. Mascots are equally the best, because they are "The Pikachu" of their games and franchises. You might be correct, Flint. There is another Mario & Sonic Olympic game announced, while there is also a new Metal Gear game for the 3DS being planned. However, Nintendo's promotion with Konami and Sega is probably expired and needs to be signed up again. If Capcom's going to add Mega Man, it would probably be Trigger which Mega Man Legends 3 is under development. They added MMZ Zero in SVC Chaos to promote the then-released MMZ series. However, TvC: UAS and MvC3 had characters that were added for fans and not to advertise any upcoming titles.

Now regarding the system... How could the game be played? So far, they haven't mentioned backwards compatibility with GCN controllers.
If the controller with screen isn't the main input (and only secondary), then what could it be used for? Spectator mode with free camera? Human-controllable stage mechanics and hazards? Assist characters? This could be fun.

If Nintendo wants players and other viewers to play far from a small screen in a well lit room or area, they'll have to make it easier for everyone to see the characters and other certain things on-screen. Reduce the amount of camouflaging and make the characters look a little larger than in the predecessors of SSB4. If they can't do that, then at least we'll be okay with the WiiU controller and the 3DS.

A while ago, I started thinking about Wii games that actually used the Wii's controller features and it made me think, "could SSBB have used some sort of tilt/angle functionlity for changing characters centre of gravity (or something) so they could perform different attacks?"With both Wii U and 3DS supporting tilt/gyro support, maybe an idea like this could be possible. In terms of content . . . - Water/Ice/Cloud/H20 blob from WiiWare title Fluidity/Hydroventure! - WuHu island as a character stage! - Updated Marth design! - CAPTAIN RAINBOW!!!! - Abitlity to customise character colours, so we can create our own pallette swaps without hacking! Another thing that needs to be mentioned. Does anyone think the Smash Bros Dojo revealed too much info about the game before it released? (Also worldwide release within a few days apart needs to happen unlike last time . . .)
