Protip: Anything Sakurai creates gets top billing in Smash Bros. Really? Cause the reason he didn't add Meta Knight or King Dedede in Melee was because he didn't want to overrepresent his own franchise. It's funny how everybody's certain this character we know nothing about is going to become playable. To me he seems to be just some NPC in the Kid Icarus DS game (we've only seen playable Kid Icarus so far) and being in just one game makes him more AT material. I'd rather have them add interesting characters then adding them for the sake of having more fighters per franchise, but hey, we'll see I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say he would be in necessary, just a Kid Icarus: Uprising character will be. The reason why his characters weren't in Melee was probably cause there was so much more to represent out of the popular franchises. Smash 4 is going to be forced to pick out some more obscure characters and newer characters that were made AFTER Brawl's release. We already have the main casts of all the base franchises represented already...except for Kid Icarus and some other smaller series like Mother and Fire Emblem which seem to be represented purely by favoritism on Sakurai's part. So to me when I see a character like this, or Medusa or Palutena, I'm fully expected another KI rep in some form or another. Not two or more, just at least one to represent this new game. It's far more likely than Captain Rainbow at least, as much as I'd love to see that character.

These are the Nintendo-only characters who I think have a very good chance of getting in SSB4. Please remember that this is not my wish list (note the lack of Meowth, Muddy Mole, and Duck Hunt Dog ). Caeda - she is the heroine of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, at least according to Sakurai. Even though there are other characters who can fulfill the same role she does (recruiting characters to your side), she's the only one who got Sakurai's acknowledgement. Source: fire-emblem.com/shadowdragon/interview/interview3.html If added, she could be the first non-Lord Fire Emblem character in Smash! I think her Final Smash would probably involve her winged horse since she is a Pegasus Knight. I wouldn't be surprised if she got a palette swap based on Elincia (she is a Pegasus Knight from Path of Radiance who had a trophy in Brawl). Dixie Kong - she was one of the seven characters who was planned to be in Brawl but got cut for unknown reasons. Maybe Sakurai wanted to have a Diddy/Dixie team like Ice Climbers but you can switch them via Down B like Zelda/Sheik but couldn't figure out how to implement this in Brawl... of course, that's my pet theory. Maybe Sakurai might want to retry implementing this in SSB4... who knows? We may even get a Dixie/Kiddy team instead! Isa Jo - the hero of Sin & Punishment: Star Successor and the son of Saki Amamiya. Saki was an Assist Trophy and Sakurai even mentioned that Saki looked like he fitted right in! So, why Isa instead of Saki? Well, Isa is recent (still fresh in people's minds) with Star Successor and his game is international, not Japan-only like Saki's. Besides, Isa can do the same things Saki can do anyway. Little Mac - he was an Assist Trophy in Brawl, too... but his series was revived recently with Punch-Out!! (Wii) and Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! (WiiWare). I think Little Mac has more to offer now than before... he's got a potential Final Smash (Giga Mac) and can borrow moves from other boxers (it would be funny if he used Ryan Aran's boxing-glove-on-a-rope as a tether recovery) Matthew - the hero of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and the son of Isaac. Isaac was an Assist Trophy in Brawl but I have a strong feeling that Matthew will get in instead whether we like it or not (I don't care either way). The first official art of Matthew had him striking a pose similar to Isaac's trophy in Brawl! Yes, I realize that Isaac is more popular but Sakurai doesn't care about popularity that much. And besides, Matthew can pretty much do the same things Isaac can do anyway. It is like Ninten and Ness all over again. Medusa - the villain of the Kid Icarus series. Sakurai is almost done with Uprising and he has mentioned that he kept thinking about Smash Bros. during Uprising development. Perhaps Sakurai has an interest in adding more Kid Icarus characters in Smash. Pit isn't retro anymore so I think now is a good time as any to add Medusa as the Bowser/Ganon of the Kid Icarus series. Mewtwo - he was one of the seven characters who was planned to be in Brawl but got cut for unknown reasons. Perhaps Sakurai had priorities and he added Pikachu, Pokemon Trainer, and Lucario first and chose Jigglypuff over Mewtwo because it's more unique than Mewtwo is when compared to Lucario? I do not know... but as far as I know, Mewtwo is the most-wanted removed character and I think Sakurai may appease Mewtwo's vocal fanbase by adding him back. Mii - Nintendo loves putting Miis in their games. We got playable Miis in Mario Kart Wii/3DS, Mario Party 8/9, Mario Sports Mix, Mario Super Sluggers, New Super Mario Bros. Mii, Pilotwings Resort... in addition to Wii ___ games... I would not be surprised if we got playable Miis in SSB4. I would prefer that the Mii don't get customizable movesets (people would just make them broken and cheap with powerful moves) but they can have customizable appearances. Palutena - she is more or less the Peach/Zelda of the Kid Icarus series. Also, read my reasons for Medusa above... it applies to Palutena as well. If Pit gets a new Final Smash based on Uprising, perhaps Palutena can take Pit's old Final Smash (it is called Palutena's Army, not Pit's Army). It would be nice to have both Medusa and Palutena but many people think that Pit should be the only Kid Icarus character in SSB4 or that Medusa should get in over Palutena just because she is "a female villain" and Palutena is already in Pit's Final Smash. Ridley - yes, some people are still clamoring for Ridley to be playable in SSB4 (let's not get into the size issues again ) but he is the only character that Sakurai briefly talked about after Brawl came out... something about needing to make him a bit slower if they really tried. Maybe Ridley may get in SSB4 in his Other M incarnation. Personally, I thought he was perfect as a boss but I digress. Starfy - the hero of the Legendary Starfy series. He was an Assist Trophy in Brawl at the time he was Japan-only. But with his fifth game being international, I think he has a better chance now than he did before Brawl came out... more people in the West now recognize him from Brawl and his fifth game. I know for sure Starfy can do so much more besides spinning weakly like he did in Brawl. He could be the first non-winged character who can glide! Takamaru - Nintendo remembered him to lend him as a guest playable character in Samurai Warriors 3 and he appeared in Captain Rainbow along with Little Mac. He is barely Japan-only because of Samurai Warriors 3 and I think Sakurai had some interest in adding him in Brawl depending on how well The Mysterious Murasame Castle sold on the GBA (remember the Classic NES Series in 2004?). Maybe Sakurai is still interested in adding Takamaru for SSB4. Tingle - perhaps the most controversal choice of this list, at least to American gamers. Tingle is very popular in Japan and possibly in Europe, too (seeing how Tingle's Rupeeland managed to reach there). Tingle is the only Zelda character who ever starred in his own spin-off series... and he recently had Blushing Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love for the DS in 2009. Like Donkey Kong and Wario with the Mario series, Tingle is divorced from the Zelda series as his games have nothing to do with the Triforce trio, focusing entirely on Rupees, fairies, and balloon-fighting. If Sakurai thinks the Balloon Fighter would be useless without balloons, perhaps he can look into Tingle's games and The Wind Waker (what the Tingle Tuner offers, to be specific) for inspiration. Toad - we have playable Toads in New Super Mario Bros. Wii/Mii and Super Mario All-Stars... even Paper Mario 3DS seems to have a Toad partner and Toad is the only new character from the Mario series to appear in Mario Sports Mix (while they dropped all the other generic Mario enemies plus Birdo and Dixie Kong)... it seems that Nintendo is beginning to give Toad more attention now than before... adding Toad would complete the playable cast of Super Mario Bros. 2 (Super Mario All-Stars) and New Super Mario Bros. Wii... Toad is very marketable (and popular, I may add) and I think Nintendo knows that and we all know Nintendo loves to print money. Zoroark - I really don't know what else to say about Zoroark other than The Pokemon Company pushing Zoroark on us like he is the Lucario of the 5th gen games and he would be added for that reason whether we like it or not. Maybe Sakurai might see the potential of Zoroark, what with his Illusion ability and whatever. If not Zoroark, then maybe Victini, Genesect, or even a new Pokemon Trainer with Unova starters. So, there you have it... my realistic and hopefully unbiased list of newcomers who I think may be playable in SSB4.

On the subject of the style of Zelda characters and lack of Ganondorf: they could still attach to the the Twilight Princess art. Maybe it's a weak example, but for Melee, they kept using Ocarina of Time instead of the Oracle games. TP and Skyward Sword are not different enough for it to be a big deal, anyway... Also, if a 3DS game with realistic-style graphics is made in these years, that could be used as well. On Miis: Sakurai stated that when he was directing Brawl, he liked working against what Miyamoto and Nintendo encouraged, explaining the lack of motion sensing. And the game also didn't use Miis while they already existed, contrasting with usual trends as well. Sure, Miis make room for a lot of creative ideas, but it really isn't extremely likely if that "rebel" design attitude remains. On Palutena: let's get to know this Magnus guy first. On Toad: Sora Ltd. is making the game? Totally Peach's move once again, something I don't think Bowser Jr. can be reduced to.
P.S.: Fanboy mode post: K. Wizzleing Rool for SSB4!!

There are more than one Toad in the Mario games. I don't see what's so farfetched about having a playable Toad and having Peach use a Toad as a shield. Bowser Jr. may not be reduced to a move but he will likely end up a Bowser clone. Characters who are similar to each other are likely going to have similar movesets. Ness/Lucas, Fox/Falco/Wolf, Mario/Luigi/Dr. Mario, Link/Young Link/Toon Link, Marth/Roy, Pikachu/Pichu. The only exception to this rule is Captain Falcon/Ganondorf but it is only because Ganondorf had a similar body build to Captain Falcon, at least according to Sakurai. That's one of the reasons why I am supporting Toad over Bowser Jr. At least Toad has the potential to have an unique non-cloned moveset. That and Toad has been around since the beginning of the Mario series and Toads are the only generic species other than Yoshis to have been playable in Mario main games (Super Mario Bros. 2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Bros. Mii). While I think it would be cool to have Magnus playable in SSB4, I think it is too early to be expecting Magnus for SSB4. He isn't an established character with a long history with Kid Icarus like Palutena and Medusa are. I feel that Palutena and Medusa should get in Smash before Magnus does for that reason. Maybe an Assist Trophy in SSB4 and upgraded to playable character in SSB5. Adding Magnus before Palutena or Medusa would be like adding Skull Kid from Majora's Mask before Zelda and Ganondorf in Melee just because he's new. P.S. I want King K. Rool, too. ;D But I also want Dixie Kong! I was a big fan of the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy during the SNES years.

I say have NO new Mario characters and leave it at that. Why does everybody think we NEED one more?
If I had to choose between K.Rool and Dixie, I'd probably take Dixie (since she was supposedly intended to be in Brawl anyway) and make Kaptain K.Rool a boss. You know he'd bake an awesome NPC boss character.

My thought is that SSB4 needs more villains (K. Rool, Bowser Jr. and Dark Samus all come to mind, but the latter seems improbable. Medusa and Ghirahim are also probable, but we need to see more from them).
I can totally see Bowser Jr with his own move set, like a flare shot similar to what Bowser used to spit back in Super Mario Bros (implying that he cannot shoot a stream of flame like his father, due to age difference), his SM Sunshine Paint Brush and could borrow abilities from the Koopalings and ones that Bowser doesn't use in SSB as we currently know.
As for the Dixie/K. Rool preference, I think that it could either be both in the game or just K. Rool. Something more fan based than actual importance weighing, since my brain tells me [Villain who hasn't pestered the hero in years] > [Partner who hasn't been relevant lately]. And of course, I'm referring only to the main series, no sports games or the like.
As for any other characters, Metroid comes to mind with another character, Takamaru representing the old-and-forgotten (like G&W and Ice Climbers for Melee and ROB and Pit in Brawl) and some F-Zero Character. Oh, and I call BS on Toad, no more comments. Maybe some Fire Emblem character, I'd really like to see one who doesn't main with a sword, or one who can switch weapons, and Ike having his Hero Model, as well as the Ranger and Lord Model.
While I am on that topic, I hope that SSB4's costumes aren't just a quick texture change, but an outright modification/change of the model. It would seem lazy otherwise, as Brawl hackers have proven that it's not that difficult, and WiiU discs will hold more info. Sure, they moved vertexes around, and some times "removed" parts, like Samus' Shoulder pads. The Devs could use the same method they used on Wario for things like this (not entirely sure how that works exactly, but the basic concept should be enough for most of you).
And as for Clones, I have no problem if they're done like it was done in Brawl. Similar Special attacks, but distinct Basic attack. A good example would be Fox and Wolf and Ness and Lucas, the difference between one and the other is enough to make them feel like totally different characters.
And hopefully, there will be downloadable content for the game. New characters, stages, items, balancing issues, and even beta testing. What would be sick is an official program that allows fans to make content for the actual game, and stuff that's awesome enough be included in a DLC. Y'all can tell I'm getting that from my recent inclusion to the Valve Fan base, but it would be freakin awesome if that were to ever happen. One can dream...
I'd like to hear what other things you guys have on your minds, a new SSB isn't just roster++ and stages++, and even Sakurai said he didn't want the next SSB for be that (can't remember where I read that, but I'm certain I did). Enlighten me.

I say Bowser Jr. shouldn't be in either. Why should he get in before Toad? And if Toad is already represented through Peach's moveset...etc. etc.

I really REALLY want King K. Rool to be playable in SSB4.
I'm getting sick and tired of watching as my favorite video game villain gets shafted at every turn. I don't give a flying fig about anyone else at this point, just give me K. Rool. Seriously, he deserves it far more than the likes of Lucario, Wolf, or fucking Sonic!
Make it happen, Sakurai!

This is what I go by, yeah. Isn't Diddy there for the partner role already? Plus, everybody loves DKC music. K.Rool would come with a nice subset of that. Im going to predict that a special design of Ganondorf will be made for this game in Skyward sword style, he will still have the same moveset as in brawl. This is in fact reminiscent of the "Twilight Princess Sheik" that was included in Brawl. It's another possibility I was thinking about.

K. Rool just another heavy character to me. I'd rather he not be playable and instead bring in Dixie if another DK rep is so important.
Though the DK series seems pretty well represented with all the levels they've had as well as two characters. Some series don't even get that far *cough*goldensun*cough*
