Why are people so obsessed with adding non-Nintendo characters in Super Smash Bros. games? You hardly ever see someone asking for non-Marvel and non-Capcom characters in Marvel vs. Capcom games. They usually ask for separate games such as DC vs. Marvel or Nintendo vs. Capcom.
Adding too many non-Nintendo characters defeats the purpose of Super Smash Bros. which is Nintendo characters fighting each other. Super Smash Bros. is a Nintendo crossover fighting game that features Nintendo characters. It is not a Nintendo crossover fighting game that features video game characters in general. You want non-Nintendo characters? Fine, ask for Nintendo vs. Capcom, Nintendo vs. Sega, Nintendo vs. Rare, etc.

Brawl seems to have covered all of their major franchises by far, especially with the playable fighters. However, I'd have Falcon and everything related to F-Zero removed entirely from the next game. All that can be truly added next time is material from their recent games for stages and such (NSMBW and the like come to mind). Hell, if Nintendo doesn't get to trying some new franchises sometime sooner, SSB may end up getting more pointless by the minute... Kind of.

Its not titled Super Nintendo Bros or anything like that, so its not particularly comparable with Marvel vs. Capcom.

If people want it to solely be a Nintendo fighter, fantastic. Go back to the Gamecube and N64 because, yeah. Nintendo's pretty capped out on awesome characters. But, personally I'd like to see Smash Bros. become the penultimate crossover. Nintendo takes prime status, but bring in Megaman. Give me Bomberman. Throw in effing Tomba for all I care, I just want to play as as many characters as possible without having to dip into the reserves (Dark Samus? Balloon Fighter? Bubbles? No thanks).

Come on dude (Dark Samus? Balloon Fighter? Bubbles? No thanks). Bubbles would wreck everyone's shit and is too awesome to be in some babby fighter's roster

Mario and Link are Nintendo characters and most importantly they are icons of Nintendo. Snake and Sonic are not, therefore they do not need to return in SSB4. Nobody cares about the Mario/Sonic rivalry anymore and it hasn't been relevant for years. Only a few Sonic fanboys will miss Sonic. Not my point, bro. And your retarded assumption that "only a few" will miss Sonic is making you sound like a troll. If you couldn't get it the first time, my point was that even if you think a character should be replaced, doesn't mean the rest of the world agrees with you. I want every Fire Emblem character gone because I hate the series. How does that make you feel? Sonic and Snake deserve to stay, not just because they are original characters but because they have plenty of fans. Why are people so obsessed with adding non-Nintendo characters in Super Smash Bros. games? You hardly ever see someone asking for non-Marvel and non-Capcom characters in Marvel vs. Capcom games. Throw in effing Tomba for all I care, I just want to play as as many characters as possible without having to dip into the reserves (Dark Samus? Balloon Fighter? Bubbles? No thanks). You know, I could say the same thing about Snake and third-party characters in general. Watch: Crappy logic as there are hundreds of Nintendo characters to choose from. You want to play as Snake, fantastic. Go back to Brawl. I hate third-party characters in Smash. How does that make you feel? Super Smash Bros. is meant to be something special... something that is exclusive to everything Nintendo. The front of the SSB64 box says "Duke it out as your favorite Nintendo characters" The front of the Melee box says " Nintendo's Best in 4-Player Action!" The front of the Brawl box doesn't say anything at all but the third-party characters are tucked away in the back, keeping the focus on Nintendo characters in the front. If Super Smash Bros. was intended to be about video game characters in general fighting each other, Kojima would not need to beg Sakurai to add Snake. The only reason people beg for something is if they were denied and they ask over and over again until the denier gives in. Hell, we weren't going to get Sonic in Brawl until Nintendo saw dollar (or yen) signs and made Sakurai add Sonic in the last minute. But since we have third-party characters already, most fans who insist on keeping Super Smash Bros. exclusively a Nintendo affair are willing to compromise by only asking for non-Nintendo characters who have close ties with Nintendo. That's why the most-wanted non-Nintendo character is Mega Man and only Mega Man.

The only reason people beg for something is if they were denied and they ask over and over again until the denier gives in. This is some of the dumbest logic I have ever heard. Are you honestly suggesting that Kojima got to his knees, kissed Sakurai's feet, and begged for his character to be included? Seriously? Really think about that situation for a second. Yes, I know that there was an interview or whatever where Sakurai says Kojima 'begged' him for Snake to be in - but you surely can't take that literally, can you? Hypothetical here: You are a writer. You write children's books. Your goal for your books is to create stories that are suitable for children. This is, in fact, your only goal in creating a new story. Anyway, your best friend comes in, and suggests you include a bunch of axe murderers in it. He's your friend, so you do exactly what he says, right? Regardless of what your intentions are, you have to listen to your buddy, right? Oh, also, a bunch of weirdos on the internet suggest you also include a story about the horrors of war, and tell you they'll buy your book if you do. So you listen to them too, right? You ignore what you set out to do in order to please them, right? Or do you, perhaps, and I know this sounds crazy, ignore the requests of your best friend and a bunch of weirdos because they don't fit in with what you wanted to make? Think about it - You're suggesting that Sakurai completely threw out his vision of a Nintendo only fighting game in order to please his friend and a bunch of internet nerds. Does that honestly seem correct to you? This is so damn ridiculous. Megaman for SSB4!

As for taking out any other character, I can only think of Jigglypuff. Hasn't been relevant in anything other than SSB in the past few years. No. In the past many years I'd like to have Castlevania in Smash. That'd also preseve the healthy relationship with Konami while introducing a new character.

That's why the most-wanted non-Nintendo character is Mega Man and only Mega Man. Uh...No? The most wanted third party characters are ones who appeared on the NES, technically still making it a Nintendo fighting game. I mean really, why does this game have to be so sacred to everyone that if more third party characters get in, it's automatically the end of a series? You know what that is? It's third partyism. You don't want Snake to drink at the Nintendo's only water fountain and that's not right. (See what I did there? I made this conversation into a joke because that's all it is to me. We all know more third party characters are coming and they'd be idiots to remove Sonic and Snake for that matter.).

I'd like to have Castlevania in Smash. That'd also preseve the healthy relationship with Konami while introducing a new character. Way way back I had the idea of a new smash increasing the 3rd party entry per company to 2 each. Adding Capcom would make a total of six 3rd party dudes. Konami and Capcom both have 2 instantly recognisable franchises that IMO fit in pretty well (Metal Gear, Castlevania, Megaman, Street Fighter), but I had a hard time thinking of a 2nd Sega franchise on that same level. Billy Hatcher? Monkey Ball? That annoying dancing space bitch? Somebody help me out here

Kingdom Hearts is exclusively about Disney and Final Fantasy characters interacting in this story about hearts, memories, and whatnot. Marvel vs. Capcom is exclusively about Marvel superheroes/villains duking it out with Capcom characters. In the same sense, Super Smash Bros. is exclusively about Nintendo characters battling each other. Why do the third-party characters have to hijack the Super Smash Bros. series away from the Nintendo characters? I am sure many fans would feel the same if something similar happened with Marvel vs. Capcom and Kingdom Hearts. It would be like Super Smash Bros. has been turned into a cheap marketing ploy to attract fans to the games just because third-party characters are in it. It makes Super Smash Bros. feel less special because now everyone from all video games, not just Nintendo's, can get in like it doesn't matter anymore.

This is going to be my last post about this, because its a) fucking ridiculous, b) you don't read other people's posts and c) yeah like i said its fucking ridiculous, but.... you keep mentioning Marvel vs Capcom, and how it doesn't expand beyond Marvel and Capcom. You are aware that series began as Xmen vs Street Fighter, right? It did expand already. Certain X-Men and Street Fighter characters were lost in the transition, and the focus on just these series was diluted. Did people bitch about it? Probably. Because people are retarded. But were people still complaining about it this long after it happened? No. Get over it. Pacman for SSB4.

^ Agreed. And mentioning Kingdom Hearts is nonsense because even though Disney is important, it doesn't stop the developers from dipping into Disney's Touchstone pool by adding Nightmare Before Christmas, Tron, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Hell, everyone's also clamoring for Pixar and Marvel worlds now.
