Good Direct, except for when those people from Treehouse were talking.
Liked the W101 reference in the opening cutscene.

Not actually a Direct, but Nintendo will be doing a Treehouse Live on Friday, September 12, starting at 10 am PDT. They'll be streaming Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Ultimate NES Remix and Fantasy Life. Then at 1 pm PDT, they'll be playing Super Smash Bros for 3DS. Ever since E3, Nintendo has really been pushing Treehouse Live. It was great during E3 when they got to show off all the new games in-depth and interview the developers. I didn't care for it during Comic Con, tho. It seemed more like them just goofing off rather than saying or showing anything interesting. They even popped up in the recent Bayonetta 2 direct, although with that, I suspect it was just NoA's way of saying, "Hey, we know this isn't your traditional Nintendo game, but here's the Treehouse saying it's cool, so it's OK for you to like it, too."

Nintendo Direct Australia . . . ?
- New Nintendo 3DS/XL will be released in Australia/NZ November 21st 2014! (Unlike next year with Europe/NA). - 20 cover plates will be available at launch for the smaller New 3DS. - Xenoblade Chronicles 3ds also confirmed for release in that region in 2015. (Is this first confirmation of a western release?)

And I was hoping for the name "New" to change outside of Japan. Oh well.

(Is this first confirmation of a western release?) - That's only 41 days after Japan. This is rather surprising, knowing Nintendo's usual Oceanian releases to be rather late.
- No black colour for the small New 3DS? Japan has almost twice as many plates, but it isn't much of a loss since they're mostlysolid colours and simple patterns. I like those transparent ones though.
- No, because Australia and New Zealand are't geographically western. *shot*
This is indeed the first non-Japanese release announcement, as NA and Europe haven't even made their own New 3DS announcement.

So the Melee Temple stage retruns once again (displayed in the Charizard/Toon Link pic). I kind of figured with the 3DS version having Temple music, but it's nice to see it confirmed. We're going to get a Smash live presentation this Thursday. Time for the true potential of Smash Bros! I'm hoping either Bowser Jr/DHD gets a reveal trailer during this direct. Bowser Jr's trailer would be a great way to also reveal the (if real) 8-player mode, with Junior and the Koopa Kids bickering and duking it out for the spotlight. (oops I thought both posts were in the Smash thread. Well whatever)

Oh...... my....
Congrats, Nintendo. Smash Wii U looks really, really, really awesome.
I'll definitely get it as soon as I can. On the other hand, Smash 3DS now has a much lower priority to me. With no Club Nintendo account, the CDs are out of my reach, and that other reason isn't good enough for me.
Still... look at all those modes and whatnot... Good enough for me to buy Smash Wii U twice over.

No doubt about that.
Soraya Saga and the official Hyrule Warriors twitter both retweeted the announcment, so expect trailer for Xenoblade and the Hyrule Warriors Twilight Princess Pack. The question is which Xenoblade game will be shown?

Both? I kinda expected the New 3DS one. It's been 4.5 months since E3 though, so maybe they've got something from Xenoblade X...
Maybe there'd be some third party announcements too, at least in Japan. I do like those myself, since I pick third party games based on those announcements.

Let's see.... JP Direct: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D (Nintnedo / Spring 2015)Whoa, they're actually making this. Iwata particularly mentioned how nightmarish this game is. Etrian Odyssey II Untold: The Knight of Fafnir (ATLUS / 27 Nov 2014)DS-to-3DS remake that uses the newer game system. Derby Stallion Gold (Kadokawa Games / 4 Dec 2014)Horse racing simulation game from ParityBit, featuring real-life steeds. Shingeki no Kyojin: Jinrui Saigo no Tsubasa CHAIN (Spike Chunsoft / 4 Dec 2014) Final Fantasy Explorers (SQUARE ENIX / 18 Dec 2014)They show this before in the 3DS Direct too. Buy this early for a special item from 3DS FFI. Final Fantasy Explorers Light (SQUARE ENIX / Soon)The beginning portion of Final Fantasy Explorers, available for free. Local and online multiplayer supported. Ace Combet 3D: Cross Rumble + (BANDAI NAMCO Games / 29 Jan 2015)Air combat game, this time with aircrafts themed after Mario, Bowser, Luigi, Fox, SS Link and Peach. Supports amiibo. Devil Survivor 2: Break Record (ATLUS)Enhanced version of the 3DS game Devil Survivor 2. Kenka Bancho 6: Soul & Blood (Spike Chunsoft / Jan 2015) Lost Heroes 2 (BANDAI NAMCO Games / 5 Feb 2015)Dungeon RPG with Ultraman, Kamen Rider and Gundam characters. Includes download code for Lost Heroes: Bonus Edition, a balanced version of the original. Atelier Rorona (temp) (Koei Tecmo / 2015) Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.: Lincoln vs Alien (Nintendo / Spring 2015) Maroi Kart 8 DLC wave 1 (13 Nov 2014)F-ZERO and Zelda courses showcased; there're also SNES Rainbow Road, an ice course, an ancient Chinese-themed level. Together with the previously announced GCN Yoshi Circuit, Wii Wario's Gold Mine and Excitebike courses, all courses in this wave are now known. The amiibo figures of Mario, Yoshi, Kirby, Link, Samus, Captain Falcon, Peach, DK and Fox can be used for unlocking Mii costumes. Hyrule WarriorsLink can get a spinning top weapon (which Link will stand on) with amiibo. Captain Toad: Treasure TrackersThere are 70+ levels in the game. Each level has a secondary goal, like not gettng discovered by the Shy Guys. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric / Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal (SEGA / 18 Dec 2014)Sonic Toon: Ancient Treasure / Island Adventure in Japan. Wanna see Shadow and Metal Sonic in that style? Here's your chance. Touch! Kirby: Super Rainbow (Nintendo / 22 Jan 2014)The ink capacity is far higher than that of Canvas Curse's. Players other than Player 1 play as Bandana Waddle Dees and can control them directly. Kirby gets a rather cuee paint brush partner this time. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Pokémon Omega Ruby & Aplha SapphireBuy Smash and Omega/Alpha to get Smash Greninja (with the 4 moves corresponding to the Smash speical moves) and 3DS VC Game & Watch Gallery 3. Iwata mentioned how Greninja and Mr. Game & Watch are the two extremes in terms of debut date (2013 vs 1980). No words on Greninja's gender. Pikmin: Short Movies 3D / Pikmin: Short Movies HD (Available now)500 yen each. They're also distributing sketches made in Flipnote and they'll introduce more Pikmin-themed events. Xenoblade X (Nintendo / Spring 2015) Splatoon (Nintendo / Spring 2015)There'll be a single-player Hero Mode, complete with enemies and some rather unconventional platforming. Iwata sneaked in quite a few ika puns. ------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm actually rather surprised that all those E3 games are surfacing so soon. And Kirby's coming in January? Yes!!
