Forgot to reply to this, I'm happy to see that Wii games will be downloadable, hopefully 3rd parties will allow their games to appear (like Zack & Wiki). - Fire Emblem looks good, still need to get Awakening. - Splatoon looks amazing as usual. - Amiibo support for Codename S.T.E.A.M looks good, I wish more games (and Amiibo) would get support. Though I'm surprised that they still haven't announced when the 3DS NFC scanner is gonna be released. I'm hoping that the Wii U gamepad NFC scanner (and it's infrared transmitter) could send a signal to the 3DS and be used instead. - Good to see cross play support with Mario vs DK Tipping Stars. Also the recent Japanese Xenoblade Chronicles X direct has been (unofficially) translated into English. (Turn on captions).

I downloaded Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii U during its first week sale (50% off). Turns out that was a really good idea!
The new Fire Emblem looks cool, but i really cant wait to see Star Fox U. I need screens!

Nintendo Direct is here again! .... 2 April at 7:00 Japanese time? I suppose I'll save that for after work, then...
The page says it'll talk about summer games. I'm looking forward to this one.

April 1st in the Americas. Kind of an odd day to have a Direct.
Apparently Atlas re-tweeted the announcement. Possible SMT X Fire Emblem news?
Also, it's apparently Tomonobu Itagaki's birthday, but it's unlikely that will have any relevance.

A little recap of what will happen between now and summer:
April: Xenoblade X May: Splatoon (Also S.T.E.A.M. for those not in or near Lincolnland) "Summer": Rhythm Heaven (3DS), Fire Emblem if "2015": Art Academy, Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wolly World "Ugh, it kind of exists": Devil's Third, Zelda, SMTxFE
I'm guessing that there'll be quite a few third party fillers, at least in Japan. Maybe a few simpler games that don't have largegaps between announcement and release.

Don't forget that the new Style Savvy is launching in April in Japan.
There will probably be a small eShop game like BoxBoy announced as well. Probably also announce some more Wii games for the eShop.

I've already started threads for SMTxFE and Fatal Frame, but here's some general impressions:
- Yoshi's Woolly World got a nice new shine. Glad about the Mellow mode so they have no reason to water down the Normal mode. Those yarn Yoshi amiibo look adorable, but I probably still won't buy any.
- Happy to hear N64 and DS games are finally coming to Virtual Console. Really surprised at Donkey Kong 64, but it's cool that games that weren't already on the Wii VC are coming to Wii U VC. (I bet they replace the unlockable arcade version of Donkey Kong with the NES version plus cement factory.)
- Fatal Frame... honestly kinda surprised. They didn't really say much about it or even show a proper trailer, so I bet this was a last-minute thing to make up for the Zelda delay.
- SMTxFE... I speculated that this might be shown due to Atlas re-tweeting the Direct, but then they released a trailer for a game called Stella Glow on the 3DS, so I figured that that was what the re-tweet was for. So, I was still a bit surprised to see this.
- Still no Devil's Third. Are they really saving this for E3?

I wonder if it's just going to be the Japanese presentations localized in English. Perhaps we'll get to hear some of the English voice actors.

Well, that was... kinda insubstantial. It was cool to see more of the game, but they're still showing the Japanese version, and there's still no release dates outside Japan. Even the actual "Direct" part of it was only 6-7 minutes long. I get the feeling that NoA noticed how much attention the Japanese presentations were getting, and they threw this together just to have something for the English-speaking audience.

Splatoon Direct announced for North America and Europe on May 7. A whole week's advance notice? That's unusual.

I imagine that Japan will announce the Direct next week. It is Golden Week, so they probably just haven't announced yet.
