May 31, Japanese general Nintendo Direct. These Directs are showing up more frequently than I thought. And to think E3 is just around the corner... I have no particular wish except the confirmation of the release date of Lucas in Smash Bros. Maybe a word on Roy and Ryu if they're actually in Smash, but that seems to work better in E3. I also don't have any wishes on games that I look forward to. Fire Emblem if is already having steady new information coming out in magazines, and there isn't much more pursuading needed to make me buy Mario Maker. And more than anything, the timing of this Direct is rather weird. What do they want to talk about at the end of May but not in E3? Unless they actually do want to talk about FE if and Rhythm Heaven, there's no reason to bring anything up now instead of E3.

I just hope that Namco gives an update on Project Treasure. Haven't seen anything since January.

From out of nowhere! Nintendo Direct Micro addition has appeared for NA! Starring Bill Trinen!
Seems to repeat some (not all) of the announcements from the Japanese Direct (Yes, Chibi Robo game/Amiibo is getting released in NA, if you were wondering). And some updates for Splatoon (including Splat Zones).

Good to see Bill is back at Nintendo, but it sounds like it'll be some time before he can work his way back up to Tanner's position.

I think it's better to post the news here. Nintendo Direct on 12 November My body is.... not ready. The announcement is so out of the blue, the presentation will be soon anyway, and I'll be sleeping through it (becausetime zones). Not gonna wake up early, especially not on a Friday. There's also no Japanese announcement on this one. Not that I'm that much eager to hear news right now. Too busy adventuring in Hoshido and Nohr.

For the last few Directs the Japanese announcements were made after the western ones, so I imagine it's just a matter of time.
Good to see them finally back, I hope to see some small announcements like BoxBoy.

Okay, that was a pretty impressive direct. The Pokemon RBY on VC with wireless multiplayer and the Cloud in Smash had to be the two biggest shocks of the Direct.
The Pokemon one is impressive if they sell well to justify the extra costs, could we get GSC or even some sort of connectivity to a N64 VC release of the Pokemon Stadium games? Could Game Freak/The Pokemon Company really go all out for celebrating the Pokemon 20th anniversary next year?
I played Blue back in the day, (sibling had Red) and I kind of want to buy the Yellow version because of this. Or even just play the games again knowing how to use the various glitches (like the one to get Mew or any other Pokemon earlier exploit, because we all used the Missingno/item duplication glitch right?)
Cloud in Smash was truly unexpected, it really doesn't feel like there's any rules to get a (third party) character in Smash now, it just seems like "fuck it, there old/iconic, and had a small Nintendo cameo in the past . . . just er . . . throw 'em in there!".
The Wolf Link amiibo looks nice and help continue the trend of having a collectors statue double as an amiibo (like the 30th anniversary Mario) Did find it amusing with the Bravely Second collectors edition they has the disclaimer "figure is not a amiibo".

I don't think Cloud is as insane as you suggest. In hindsight, he is both Mr. RPG and the face of Final Fantasy and SE. His inclusion is much more similar to Snake than a real of the wall pick like Shantae.

So where was Federation Force? Seems they were well aware of the negative reactions it got, and it looks like it'll be delayed past spring.

There had to be some kind of deal for Cloud to be in Smash... Final Fantasy VII Remake for NX confirmed?

It'd probably be something that benefits Square Enix more, since FFVII on NX would really just benefit Nintendo. Something like the Mario & Sonic Olympics thing, which I've always assumed was the deal Nintendo cut with Sega to get Sonic in. But... SE already make a lot of games with Mario, so who knows.
This is pretty awesome, anyway. I only finally got around to playing FFVII last year, but it was an awesome experience. I wonder if this is the first poll character or just another separate deal like Ryu?

Given how much they showed of him, I doubt he's a poll character per se. But I'm sure he polled well enough o be noticed before the poll's official end.

I don't think the poll is the sole source they're looking at for gauging character popularity.
And yes, I agree with The Qu, he's not a poll character in the sense that he was decided after 3 October.
And shouldn't Nintendo be the one to buy rights for the characters? "Let us use Cloud AND make FF7 for us" doesn't sound reasonable.
