Yeah, it was a really nice lighthearted Direct. Lots of humor. I especially like the weird dreams Miis have, like the Colossus Miis poking out of the water.

That synthesized voice really reminds me of "Joshua" from WarGames:
Fun fact: that computer voice was actually not synthetic, but actor John Wood (who played Stephen Falkin) reading each sentence backwards and having his words re-spliced forwards.
On a side note, Reggie (the real Reggie) has been conspicuously absent from recent Nintendo Directs, with NoA being represented by other people like Bill Trinen and Erik Peterson. Is he being punished or are they just trying to push other faces into the public spotlight?

I think there are two big reasons Reggie seems MIA.
1. People like Bill and Erik have a background working on games, and are by default better at talking about them at length. Reggie is ultimately just a businessman, and can't go in depth like they can.
2. Reggie also seems more comfortable on stage during E3 than in any recorded ND. Personally I always felt Reggie came across very wooden in his ND appearances, the other hosts always did circles around him.

I really want this game. It looks like a fun time-waster, which is what I want on trains. And I'm always looking for games that use StreetPass well. Getting this day one for that very reason. After a year of streetpassing I've pretty much completed the extra Mii-Plaza minigames. I don't even bother with half of them anymore (what's the point of Warrior's Way after getting 9,999,999 soldiers) and I don't really feel like going through all those Fire Emblem/AC:NL streetpasses anymore either. Will get a lot more out of my streetpasses with this goofy, casual Sims-like game. Too bad it's still 2 months away.

Well... I'm finally getting Pikmin 3 thanks to this. I'm a piece of shit... xD
Regardless, this was definitely a different way to do the directs, it felt as if it was a parody of North American commercials (holy jesus on a stick, those things are bad) and in the end, it was amusing. If this is any indication of what to expect on June 10th, then I'm ok with it. I wonder how they'll announce their "meh" set of games with this type of presentation.
I wonder in which places you can get the Super Horn. That's going to affect how useful it is against the Blue Shell. It would have been nice had it not destroyed the item, but instead deflected it. That would have made it a hazard for those behind the Super Horn user, turning the Blue Shell essentially into a Bob-omb.

I don't think you need the eShop version of MK8 to get the bonus. You need any version of NA or EU MK8, and get the free game as a downloadable copy. Japan has it worst, it seems. Those who buy MK8 before 31 July will get to try any two of New SMB U, Game & Wario, Nintendo Land, W101, Pikmin 3 and Wind Waker HD for one month, and get the option to buy them at 40% off. If they take advantage of the discount, they will get 0.8 games free, as opposed to 1 game in other regions. Anyway, I like how the're going all out to sell MK8. I hope E3 in general will feel like this.

Oh man, that EU bonus. Can't decide between Pikmin, W101 or Sonic. Gonna have to dart this. Pretty cheesy direct, Koopa Kid roll-call reminded me of the US SNES MK commercial ( MUUUDPIIIT). The last two character reveals are so bad it becomes pretty funny. Pink Gold Peach? I know it's Peach but why not regular ol' gold? Oh nevermind. I don't mind if this is the complete roster though (who knows, might be more unlockables) because I'll stick with the Koopa Kids no matter what

If they had called her 'Metal Peach' it'd have made more sense. That's actually a thing that Mario characters can become. 'Pink Gold Peach' reeks of roster-filler.

Pink or Rose Gold is actually a thing. It's a copper tinted gold used for jewelry, so it's actually kind of clever making a metal Peach Pink Gold. It's still really stupid though. The cleverness doesn't balance out that 3/4 of the roster is just filler. EDIT: Wow, holy shit. I didn't even see The Qu's post. My bad

This Friday/Saturday . . . Smash Bros Direct 2: 3DS Boogaloo.(No, it's not the actual name) Yes, it is actually happening. It will be broadcast at 8pm PST on Friday, August 29 (4am GMT, August 30). And it focuses on the 3DS version. Maybe the leaks will finally be confirmed . . . Oh why do I even bother to joke about it, there's enough proof as it is.
