Pretty typical Indie World Showcase. The only thing that I was interested in was Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution. (Although, I still haven't played the previous Shantae game.)

Here it is:
After all the leaks, there were still some interesting surprises. But perhaps the biggest surprise was what wasn't shown: the one game everyone assumed was basically guaranteed.
I'll post more detailed impressions a little later.

OK, impressions.
So, yeah, no Hi-Fi Rush for Switch. Xbox later confirmed it for PS5 (along with Sea of Thieves). Switch is getting Grounded and Pentiment. To be honest, I'm not interested in any of these games.
Monster Hunter Stories and Epic Mickey: Rebrushed were surprises. Monster Hunter Stories 2 was a game that seemed to come and go, and I don't see it talked about at all now. I played the demo, but never finished it. I'm not normally into monster-collecting RPGs, but I'm still a little curious about this particular series.
I enjoyed Epic Mickey on the Wii, but I have no desire to play it again.
All the Rare games added to NSO was a nice surprise, but I guess I should've expected it. I suppose we can expect to see more in the future.
I never played either of the Endless Ocean games on Wii, but I'm a little curious about the series. I'll keep my eye on it.
The two games I'm most interested in are Unicorn Overlord and Contra: Operation Galuga, both of which have demos. I've already played the demo for Contra. I enjoyed it, but it feels quite janky. I hope they smooth it out either before launch or shortly after.
Unicorn Overlord looks gorgeous, and seems to be like Ogre Battle with some Fire Emblem mixed in. I don't expect to get it (or Contra, for that matter) at launch. Waiting for sales is something I'm trying to get back into the habit of.
Overall, it was a decent direct.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and Japan got Mother 3 on NSO.

I didn't bother watching it live because of the time, but still paid attentions to the leaks before hand. I can't tell if this makes things better or worse at this point.
I know the rumors said we were going to get Endless Ocean, but I was surprised to see it be a new game with random generation. Was expecting a remaster/remake of the first 2 games. In a a console swan song time period where it feels like "cheaper" remakes would be the norm instead of new games.
Rareware games were unexpected, hopefully we get more and now with Microsoft being more open to their games on other platforms a game like Diddy Kong Racing (and it's character rights issues) might be even easier to get released on NSO. Imagine have a direct where Banjo-Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day and then the game they both cameo in, DKR gets revealed as well.
Good to see more older games getting remasters.
World of Goo 2 being console exclusive, I highly recommend the original if you still haven't played it after all these years.
Probably a coincidence but did it seem like a lot of the games announced have online multiplayer with large amounts of players? Who expected 30 player online in Endless Ocean of all things? I know we already have the "99" series of games but those mostly 2D looking not things like 64 person 3d multiplayer of SW Battlefront. Nintendo is even including a 7 day trail for NSO with purchases of EO:L
Pokemon Day is having it's presentation next week, after last years disappointment, I'm not watching that live again.

I'm curious about the new Endless Ocean game too, Nester. ^^ A long time ago I played the first game on Wii, but my memory about it is faint. I haven't gone back to the Wii, I'm not sure why because I still play old consoles; but the Wii Remote's need for batteries and charger decks breaking can be a pain. I want to get it when it comes out and the new features sound nice.
I like how Nintendo have been bringing back things like this and Another Code, Famicom Detective Club, Advance Wars etc. Perhaps we'll continue to see new revivals soon.

Just for fun, here's some last-minute predictions: - SQUARE ENIX galore, because this is what Nintendo Direct usually does. I predict at least 3 games.
FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, DRAGON QUEST III / DRAGON QUEST I & II, Romancing SaGa 2. Yep.
- Metroid Prime 4 mentioned in some way. I'm guessing no full trailer, but more of an acknowledgement that it exists. Would pretty much confirm it'll be for the Switch successor as well, like those Zelda games.
Nope. It gets a nice trailer.
- At least 2 wholly new non-remakes published by Nintendo. Can be from smaller series; those would show Nintendo Switch is still getting new games.
New Mario & Luigi, new Mario Party and new Zelda. It's even better than I thought.
- Hollow Knight: Silksong. If news are surfacing on the Xbox side, surely that game is finally ready, right?
Wrong.
- No main series Fire Emblem. People talk about that FE4 remake and there are some hoping for FE8 or FE9, but Engage is still kind of new.
No new Fire Emblem, alright. I really think it's not time yet.
- The final piece of news isn't a game, but an update on Miyamoto's external collaborations. Could be Universal Studios, the second Mario movie or live-action Zelda. Can't decide which.
Got it wrong, Prime 4 is the last thing shown.
3 correct, 3 incorrect. Got quite a lot of nice surprises there.

Whoa, this is crazy.
New Mario & Luigi. New Mario Party. New Zelda where you actually play as Zelda. And… Old Donkey Kong. Just to serve as a reminder that we haven't seen anything new for a deacde by now.
Let's see:
Mario & Luigi Brothership: Cool, the series is back. Also new characters. Looks like Nintendo is finally loosing their "no new Mario characters" mandate. I like their design too.
Super Mario Party Jamboree: Ooh, a new Super Mario Party game. They didn't show much about how the boards work, but they're making boards from MP1 and MP2 return. Dice blocks that give up to 10 return, perhaps?
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: We're finally getting The Legend of Link! From what is shown, it looks like it's related to THIEF's game? There are Gordo-like spike balls.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond: Finally.
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD: The only things DK gets are re-releases. It's been 10 years. Come on. If Retro Studios aren't available, I still want to see some spinoffs from some other team.
Nintendo Switch Sports update: Since Nintendo sees this kind of game as long-term products, I'm not exactly surprised that it's getting updated just now. I wonder how many players are still actively playing it.
3rd party stuff:
LEGO HORIZON ADVENTURES: PlayStation directly publishing games on Switch seems to be a regular thing now. Huh.
Stray: Didn't think this is possible. The trailer looks very blurry, though.
FAIRY TAIL2: Well, that's Gust's 23rd game on Nitendo Switch. Add those Fatal Frame games in and we get a nice 25. Also didn't expect to see this on Nintendo Direct.
FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, DRAGON QUEST III, DRAGON QUEST I & II, Romancing SaGa 2: See? SQUARE ENIX fest!
Very good presentation overall.

Full thoughts: Mario & Luigi: Brothership - It seems that Nintendo is bringing back all of Mario's RPG series'. I was a little surprised to see this considering the original developer went out of business. Looks cute, but I don't expect to buy. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD - Kit & Krysta predicted this one. I enjoyed the original, but I probably won't get this version. Maybe Nintendo is working on a new game for the Switch 2, and this is just to keep the series fresh in people's minds. Metal Slug Attack Reloaded - SNK really just doesn't want to make a new traditional Metal Slug game do they. Maybe they should just have Granzella make one since Kazuma Kujo worked on the original anyway. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - Finally, a Zelda game that's actually a Zelda game (and isn't one of those CD-i games)! It looks cute, although I'm not super fond of that art style. I do like that Zelda gets her own gameplay style, and they didn't just make a generic Legend of Zelda game with Zelda swapped for Link. This is the one game from the Direct that I'm likely to purchase. Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven - I was not expecting a full remake of Romancing SaGa 2, especially since a new SaGa game just came out. I tried the demo for Emerald Beyond, but it didn't interest me at all. I don't think I feel as compelled to try this series as much as I used to. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - This was really the make-or-break moment for this game. It was announced in June 2017, three months after the launch of the Switch. Development was announced to be restarted in January 2019, five months before Nintendo announced "the sequel to Breath of the Wild." That game went through its entire development cycle and got released more than a year before even the first footage of Metroid Prime 4 was shown. I feel bad for the fans that were being strung along all that time, but I'm happy the game is finally on the horizon, even though I don't plan to play it myself. (On a side note, Kit & Krysta made a bet about whether this game would be mentioned at all. If it wasn't, Kit was going to let Krysta shave his head. Instead, Krysta will be getting a pie to the face!) I think this was about as good of a Direct as I could've expected at this stage. Lots of surprises, and more than just remakes/remasters of old games. Still, it doesn't really impact my previous purchasing plans for the rest of the year. Other thoughts: No new Fire Emblem - The long-rumored FE4 remake is still a no-show. I'm not super disappointed by this, as I still feel invested in Engage and would like to do another playthrough of it at some point. No Xenoblade X port - Some people were talking about this, but there was really no basis for the rumor, and I did not expect it. Monolith Soft is clearly focusing on Switch 2. No Zelda Wind Waker HD/Twilight Princess HD - More long-rumored ports. These are getting to be a meme on the level of Mother 3 at this point. I didn't have any expectations for them. LEGO HORIZON ADVENTURES: PlayStation directly publishing games on Switch seems to be a regular thing now. Huh. I still chuckle when I think back to when people said Nintendo needed to go third-party and put all their games on PlayStation and Xbox (and mobile). Since then, both Microsoft and Sony have published games on the Switch.
