Oh, well if the Heavy's just using Ralph's clips, then I'm probably wrong.
I really hope I'm wrong. TF2 characters would definitely sell the Steam version to me, but if the voices aren't the regular ones it'll be a total deal breaker. The voices make those characters.

The're probably just placeholders, used to see if characters are making the approitate voice clip for each action/reaction. It's a bit surprising at the "choice" of the three TF2 characters though. I like the Heavy, as he has been the most promted character since TF2 launched. - Sniper could have had a roofless version of his camper van (or even a sword van) Or even one of the trucks (modified) seen on various TF2 maps - Soilder could have flown through the air riding a giant rocket. - Engineer could have any vehicle of his own creation (it worked for Pat Pending)- Pyro could've had a more Pyroland inspired vehicle - Demo, err, he could ride nessie?Surprisingly enough, the airboat is actually in TF2. It's found in BLU spawn of Mountain Lab which is inspired by the airboat from Half Life 2. I think part of the reason for using the Spy and Pyro is that they are both voiced by Dennis Bateman, so maybe he could be hired in future to do the proper lines for those two. (instead of having to have 3 voice actors for 3 characters. (Admittly Heavy and Demoman are voice by 1 guy as well, but I assume SEGA doesn't want drink driving right? But than again is it drink driving when operating a plane or boat?) But fuck it, at the end of the day, it's TF2 characters in another game cameo and it's awesome.

There are jokes with all three of the character choices. Supposedly Heavy was chosen because of this song, Pyro Car is a joke on a simple strategy for Pyros and as for the the Spy Plane... C'mon. Just say it. Voices are also allegedly a reason. According to some guys I've seen online, the Scout VA is a dick when it comes to recording new lines.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to what guys online say. Scout had a whole bunch of new lines last update when Engineer, Pyro and Sniper didn't get even one. And if he was a dick to work with Valve wouldn't have used him again in Left 4 Dead.

Sorry for the double post, guys, but this needs to be seen. Apparently Steve Lycett has challenged the community to decide on three DLC characters. If they can prove there's demand for them, he'll present them to Sega for consideration. People on the forum have set up petitions for the most wanted characters, which you can sign over here. I signed for Toejam & Earl, Ristar, Billy Hatcher, Axel Stone, Ryo Hazuki and Opa Opa, because it seems crazy to me that none of those guys are in the game when Monkey Ball, Jet Set Radio, Space Channel 5 and NiGHTS get two characters each. None of those games need two characters in there.

Huh, they got rid of Billy Hatcher, Ryo and Opa-Opa for the sequel? That's pretty lame. Same for Big the Cat, but I know I'm pretty much alone with that one
Why's Hatsune Miku on the list? Seems like a weird choice for a Sega Allstars game (then again so are the other guest racers I guess)

Same for Big the Cat, but I know I'm pretty much alone with that one You're not alone, Big's my girlfriend's favourite Sonic character. And her favourite Sega character after Billy Hatcher. So she's not too pleased with the new game. Miku seems to be on the list because Sega made a few games with her and people aren't aware that they didn't create the character. I think it's safe to say she won't make it in regardless.

SEGA has the exclusive game rights, apparently. Also, fans were the ones to vote her onto the poll, so blame them, not sumo or SEGA.

Miku would be a really good character to get this game to sell in Japan. Or do these games not get released there?

The first one was never released in Japan as far as I know. I don't think this one's been announced there either.
