First off, I'm aware we don't know everything about these games yet. Anyway, this is one lately major first-party series for Nintendo that still hasn't made an appearance in any form in Smash yet. This is peculiar because Nintendo has been throwing it around everywhere a lot in recent times, everything from a Puzzle Swap panel to this (scroll down, it's in there). And to date, there's still no signs of anything Rhythm Heaven in Smash 3DS/Wii U; No stage (either 3DS or Wii U), no items, no Assist Trophies, no trophies. Nothing at all. So far, at least. A playable character isn't that likely (personally, I don't buy that leak), but really, if something like Tomodachi Life just got a stage in there... Again, I know there's a lot more we haven't seen about these games yet. But given the way this series has been going lately with Nintendo, there's no way it can possibly miss this Smash. And a stage would be its best bet. (It also doesn't help that the Direct didn't show that many new ones) Ultimately, it's all a matter of time and I'll be proven wrong later on.

Shall we just go ahead and make threads for every game that hasn't shown up in the pre-release material yet? Because I find it HIGHLY DUBIOUS that we haven't seen anything from Big Brain Academy. I'm calling conspiracy.

Honestly, I think it's more possible of there being a Rhythm Heaven stage over a Big Brain Academy one. Color me surprised if either series isn't represented in SSB4.

I was just pointing out how dumb it is to make a whole thread pointing out that we haven't yet seen anything from one (still relatively obscure) series in this game that hasn't been released.
I think there will almost certainly be a Rhythm Heaven stage in the game (makes more sense than Electroplankton), but do we really need a whole thread to say "Hey, we haven't seen a stage from Rhythm Heaven"? And if so, why don't we have an individual thread for each and every other thing we haven't seen? We don't even have individual threads for the stuff we have seen!

This a forum, any discussion is worth having as long as it's on topic. As for the topic, I'm sure that at the very least there is going to a RH themed stage. The RH series is really popular in Japan, and if Pilotwings can have a stage, it's not a stretch for RH to gain one.

The only major factor for a RH stage in the game has to be . . .
. . . Would the stage require some rhythm mechanic (like the stage moving or pulsing to the beat of background music) or would it just a be stage themed around the world of RH?
(Think about it, would you enjoy the SSBB's WarioWare stage with out the microgames in it?)
Also make me wonder if they would have to get that Japanese composer guy who helped create the series involved.

There's a consistent 'leak' that's shown up from time to time that says the Choir Kids will be the WTF character of the game. It's alleged to be from the same guy who leaked the E3 Six as well as Greninja, so who knows. Stranger things have happened. I mean, we all thought ROB was deconfirmed and laughed off those leaks back in Brawl.

The months leading to Brawl's release taught me to call bullshit on all leaks until a week or so before the actual release in whatever region. On that note, 3DS version's summer release means we only need to wait about 4 more months to know the complete roster for both versions. But yeah, Choir Kid(s)' basically Rhythm Heaven Fever's mascot isn't he? It's possible, dude looks goofy so I'd be pretty happy with that, but for now I'm only expecting a stage. Something akin to the 3DS puzzle maybe.

This a forum, any discussion is worth having as long as it's on topic. Oh, absolutely. It just struck me as silly to have a whole thread that basically amounts to "Hey, we haven't been shown Rhythm Heaven stuff." "Nope." There's not a whole lot of discussion to be had about a lack of information. And why just Rhythm Heaven, of all things? What about other stuff that's likely to appear that we haven't seen yet? For example, it seems like Nintendo have been pushing Dillon's Rolling Western about as much as they have Rhythm Heaven, think we'll see anything from that? Xenoblade seems pretty popular, how about that? They seem to be trying to bump up the number of female characters, does Jill from Drill Dozer have a chance of getting in this time? Will Nintendo finally remember StarTropics? There's tons of discussion to be had speculating about stuff we haven't seen! I just think if we're gonna discuss that, it'd be more interesting to discuss more than just.. Rhythm Heaven. But if there's more to say about it, by all means, don't let me interrupt.

Honestly if there was going to a musical fighter I think it should be Barbara the Bat. I mean she's such a badass and could use her guitar as a weapon.

I mean she's such a badass and could use her guitar as a weapon. I'm been thinking over the past few days that maybe former characters from Brawl Assist Trophies that have had a new game between SSBB and SSB4 (Like Little Mac) could have a higher chance of getting upgraded to playable (Barbera has had some Band Bros/Master of Illusion DSiware stuff and the new Band Bros 3ds game). Also with her appearances in Master of Illusion/Magic Made Fun, she could use card trick/stage magic as well as music.

Shall we just go ahead and make threads for every game that hasn't shown up in the pre-release material yet? Because I find it HIGHLY DUBIOUS that we haven't seen anything from Big Brain Academy. I'm calling conspiracy. Actually, we got Big Brain Academy stickers AND music in Brawl. It's not massively surprising. Look at the games that have been represented. Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber and Slide Adventure: MAGKID are essentially where the cut-off for "new content" in Brawl happened. August 2007. Rhythm Tengoku was released on the GBA a year earlier, but the series didn't hit its stride until the DS and Wii sequels, and Nintendo started pushing them more. And it's not surprising we haven't seen anything for either of them yet, as there hasn't been another Smash Bros. game since Brawl. And is it really surprising that we haven't seen anything in SSB4? No. Having a character based on the games would be a terrible idea. You could probably do a one-trick assist trophy or a stage... And maybe we'll get a trophy, or a sticker, or a God knows what else. A music CD? Sure, why not. But why would that be revealed right now? What if they're unlockable? Past experience says Sakurai announces unlockables after launch. Unless it's Snake or Sonic. Now is not the time to fret over which franchises might not be represented. Now is the time to pore over every little thing that is represented in anticipation of the rush that will arrive in the very near future when the 3DS game hits.

Actually, we got Big Brain Academy stickers AND music in Brawl. I was just talking about SSB4 in particular. I was also being entirely sarcastic. And an ass. So I'm sorry everyone! I just still don't get why this thread is. All the discussion in this board right now is about the stuff we've already seen, and Rhythm Heaven. Why Rhythm Heaven?! But my attempt to hijack this thread and make it about a broader topic appears to have failed. And now I just really want to play Rhythm Heaven.

Huh. Guess I've created kind of a misunderstanding here. A lot of people don't seem to see it at first, but there appears to be a fine line between first-party and second-party. Most of the time in Smash, you'll often see their first-party franchises getting the biggest presence; playable characters, stages, items. To name a few others out of those: Find Mii, Wii Fit, Animal Crossing, Pilotwings, Punch-Out, Steel Diver, and even Tomodachi Life. Those and the rest of the big guns seem to be the easiest thing to access with Nintendo. Second-parties, on the other hand, are more or less hurdles to jump over. (Not as much as third parties, but that's a whole other matter) Custom Robo, Starfy, Sin & Punishment, Golden Sun, Kururin, Fossil Fighters... These are made by different outer companies that are partially linked to Nintendo, but are still on their own most of the time. To describe it more accurately, "Kind of Nintendo, but not totally Nintendo". I'm sure that going to these teams for content would have been a bit harder than grabbing right out of Nintendo's first-party library, and it could explain why Assist Trophies are the best that they get. (Sakurai even said that getting Marth into Melee from Intelligent Systems was a challenge at first) For example, with Starfy, not only has he not had a game in a while, but his status as a (rather insignificant) second-party could well be a factor for denying him playability and leaving him as an AT again. ...And does TOSE make games for Nintendo anymore? Of course, Pokemon is the exception here on the grounds that it was, well, that successful. If it weren't, we wouldn't have had a playable Pikachu and all that. But it still would have been around in a much smaller capacity. Even as it is now, Game Freak still maintains its regulations on what content can be used in Smash. As for Kirby and Earthbound, they're owned by HAL, which is closer to Nintendo than the rest of them. Heck, Kirby makes an appearance in NES Remix II! I brought up Rhythm Heaven because of it being recently prominent all around Nintendo. There's even a StreetPass Mii Plaza hat of the Rhythm Monkey character. Popularity in Japan aside (and the west, kinda), its status as a first-party series would easily get it something in there. It's become a priority franchise for them at this point (Not huge per se, but it's around alright). It's...from the WarioWare & Tomodachi Life team, even. Oh, and Brain Age/Big Brain Academy and Band Bros. are first-party. (Hey, I'd be down with a Brain Age stage (3DS) or Kawashima AT too!) But why would that be revealed right now? What if they're unlockable? Past experience says Sakurai announces unlockables after launch. Unless it's Snake or Sonic. Doh, right! Why haven't I thought of that? On the chance it does get a stage, it would more than likely be hidden. I remember well before the Smash Direct, there was this suspicion of Miis missing from the game, shown to be absent from the stages where they do belong. Being one of Nintendo's recently biggest things, you'd think it would be silly to leave them out of Smash, right? But later on, we've got one of those in there at the Find Mii II stage! So...this topic is kind of like that, I guess...? Once again, it's ultimately all a matter of time.
