Now that I think about it, NISA is more problematic than I thought at first.
NISA is bad with NIS's own games. They typically come out about half a year after the Japanese release, and the examples I have in mind (Yomawari series, Void Terrarium series) aren't even particularly text-heavy.
I recall that there were multiple bidders who wanted to localise/publish Ys VIII, and NIS won because they also offered to make a Switch version to sweeten the deal. Since Falcom is handling Switch development themselves now, I think they can afford to change overseas publisher (again).
There are only 2 playable characters. There are towns, but the base of operation is the ship. About 20% of the game takes place on the ship, where it will have marine battle encounters. The ship itself has growth elements.
Charge the revenge gauge by guarding to raise attack power. A new type of action called Mana Action is introduced and will give more freedom to aerial movement. There are also solo and paired battle modes, with solo being the usual high-speed action and pair will slow Adol down but raises attack power. This is triggered by holding a button.
They're being rather conscious that they're trying new grounds by targeting new hardware, and they hope they can make something that new and old fans can approach the same way.
New trailer will come after new year or in spring.
Okay, this serious feels like it's going to be an easy game when they're bringing up new and potentially younger fans all the time.
nocturnal YL: Also I'm very excited about Fire Emblem Engage now, but I also don't want to have premature celebrations until the game is actually out.

Nester the Lark: A topic about our hypothetical ideal games could be interesting. I sometimes think about what an RPG would be like if it had only my favorite types of elements, and didn't include things I didn't like.

Nester the Lark: On a similar note, I've considered making a "fun" topic about creating an RPG party out of only various Nintendo characters. There would be rules (like only one character per franchise), but I haven't gotten the details figured out yet.

nocturnal YL: At Chapter 17 in Xenoblade. The story got a lot better at the end. Also I just realised that I was a fool trying to run around places and fight low-level enemies for items when I could have just traded.

Nester the Lark: First, The Pokémon Company gets into trouble with that whole Pokémon Masters EX hashtag business, and now this.
Jan 14, 2023 9:55:16 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: That's very embarrassing (and also entertaining). But I wonder why would The Pokémon Company post something they probably didn't make themselves?

nocturnal YL: Got to the ending of Xenoblade. I'll do the post-game contents in Casual Mode since they started to feel grindy. I'll also go back to the parts I skipped (mostly quests and Colony 6); there isn't much reason to play NG+, so I'll just complete the 1st run.

Nester the Lark: I'd like to be playing Fire Emblem Engage, but it wasn't delivered when it was supposed to be, and the shipment tracking hasn't been updated, so I have no idea what happened to it.

Nester the Lark: Times like this make me wonder if Sakurai had the right idea, and buying games digitally is the way to go.
Jan 21, 2023 18:23:18 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Digital is usually more expensive and Switch only supports up to 2TB storage (about 140 to 200 games), but if you want to play games as soon as possible, it's the way to go.
Jan 22, 2023 1:48:00 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I don't know when will I be getting it. I'm still interested, but it's no longer the "pre-order, premium version" kind of interested. These days I order games in bulks, so maybe I'll wait.
Jan 22, 2023 1:49:34 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Finally, an update. It's marked as "out for delivery" again. Fingers crossed.
Jan 23, 2023 12:58:22 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: About the prices of digital games, I often find that when they go on sale, it's usually for very cheap prices. Except for first-party Nintendo games, which rarely go on sale, and not usually for that big of a discount.
Jan 23, 2023 13:01:40 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: But then, first-party Nintendo games usually hold their value for a long time even physically.
Jan 23, 2023 13:02:21 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Welp, that's 0 for 2 on the delivery.
Jan 23, 2023 23:11:36 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: And it's out for delivery again. Third time's the charm?
Jan 26, 2023 12:54:55 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: And that's 0 for 3 on the delivery.
Jan 27, 2023 9:49:06 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: So, the delivery company gave up and sent the game back to the retailer. My order is being cancelled and money refunded.
Jan 27, 2023 20:41:21 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I've been in contact with a customer service rep from the retailer all week, and they didn't understand why the package wasn't being delivered, either. But they're sending me a $30 gift card for the trouble, so that takes the sting out of it.
Jan 27, 2023 20:43:16 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Still considering the digital option at this point.
