The final SamSho DLC character has been revealed during the New Game Plus Expo, and it's... The Warden, a crossover character from a Ubisoft game called For Honor. Huh.
I'm not familiar with this character or game, so I don't really have any feelings about this.
Also more Neo Geo Pocket Color games are coming to Switch, starting with King of Fighters R-2. Samurai Shodown! 2 will also be available for purchase.

The previous rumor I mentioned about a new Metal Slug for consoles also included a new mobile game.
Well...
Now, this is the kind of 2.5D graphical style I imagined for a new main entry, so I hope it looks something like this.

So, SNK news summary: The Neo Geo Pocket Color games Samurai Shodown 2! and The King of Fighters R-2 should be available on the eShop today. The Neo Geo Samurai Shodown Collection was also released last week. A third season of DLC was announced for SamSho 2019, but no characters have been revealed yet. There was also a free DLC character released: Gongsun Li, a crossover character from the mobile game Honor of Kings. On a somewhat related note, Famitsu has been publishing some article on Samurai Shodown recently... in English. Since when did Famitsu start publishing some articles in English? (And why are they all about SamSho?) I admit I've fallen off the bus when it comes to supporting SNK on Switch, but I'm limited in what I can spend these days. Plus, I've been leaning more into JRPGs.

It seems that the old Metal Slug Anthology from the Wii and PS2 is being re-released on PS4 via Limited Run Games. Oddly, they've confirmed that there will be no Switch version.

Cool!
…But judging from the replies, it seems that the download version has severe input lag. I expect the same will happen to this physical version.

The next Neo Geo Pocket Color game being released on Switch is The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny, rolling out right now depending on your time zone. Also, they've released a video of Yasuyuki Oda announcing the release of the game, and they tease that one of the upcoming DLC characters for Samurai Shodown will be from The Last Blade. They don't say who it will be, but they say it's "someone the fans absolutely adore." I'm betting it will be Hibiki from Last Blade 2. She always seemed to be one of the more popular Last Blade characters, and she was even included in Capcom vs. SNK 2.

So, this is... strange. According to Nintendo Life, a third of SNK's shares have been bought out by a Saudi Arabian company, Electronic Gaming Development Company (EGDC), and the deal was funded by the Saudi Crown Prince. I don't even know what to say about this.

Yeah, I'm going to say that Terry shouldn't return to Smash in light of this news. I can't give money to a guy that has dissidents hacked to death with a bone saw.

EGDC is apparently planning to increase its share to 51 percent.
I feel bad for SNK.

I'd say it was over back when Eikichi Kawasaki sold his share of the company. The buyers were Chinese game companies who saw subsidiaries as mostly financial investment, and didn't have the same moral concerns as the west do.

Getting back to talking about the games, SNK announced that the official reveal trailer for King of Fighter XV will be released on January 7. Also, they will be announcing the next two DLC characters for Samurai Shodown, including the Last Blade character.
Here is the announcement video:

Here is the presentation video (linked because embedding it is disabled due to age restriction) that shows the first trailer for King of Fighters XV, as well as the first two characters in the next season of SamSho DLC. So, also, they've announced KoF XIV Ultimate Edition and KoF 2002 Unlimited Match for PS4. I'm guessing that aside from the NGPC games, they're phasing out Switch support. As for SamSho, they've announced Cham Cham as the next DLC character, and the Last Blade crossover character will, indeed, be Hibiki. Both excellent choices, in my opinion.

I wasn't expecting this, but the original SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium for Neo Geo Pocket Color was rated in South Korea, so it may be coming to Switch soon. Makes me wonder if we'll also see ACA Neo Geo: SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos at some point.

SNK vs. Capcom is out now. However, according to Nintendo Life, SNK has announced a compilation of Neo Geo Pocket Color games for the Switch (including SvC). The price and what games are included have not been revealed yet. In other news, according to Gamasutra, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is buying up shares of Activision Blizzard, EA, and Take-Two, so SNK isn't the only company being gobbled up.
