So, SNK news summary:
The Neo Geo Pocket Color games Samurai Shodown 2! and The King of Fighters R-2 should be available on the eShop today.
The Neo Geo Samurai Shodown Collection was also released last week.
A third season of DLC was announced for SamSho 2019, but no characters have been revealed yet. There was also a free DLC character released: Gongsun Li, a crossover character from the mobile game Honor of Kings.
On a somewhat related note, Famitsu has been publishing some article on Samurai Shodown recently... in English. Since when did Famitsu start publishing some articles in English? (And why are they all about SamSho?)
I admit I've fallen off the bus when it comes to supporting SNK on Switch, but I'm limited in what I can spend these days. Plus, I've been leaning more into JRPGs.
Also, they've released a video of Yasuyuki Oda announcing the release of the game, and they tease that one of the upcoming DLC characters for Samurai Shodown will be from The Last Blade. They don't say who it will be, but they say it's "someone the fans absolutely adore."
I'm betting it will be Hibiki from Last Blade 2. She always seemed to be one of the more popular Last Blade characters, and she was even included in Capcom vs. SNK 2.

I'd say it was over back when Eikichi Kawasaki sold his share of the company. The buyers were Chinese game companies who saw subsidiaries as mostly financial investment, and didn't have the same moral concerns as the west do.

Getting back to talking about the games, SNK announced that the official reveal trailer for King of Fighter XV will be released on January 7. Also, they will be announcing the next two DLC characters for Samurai Shodown, including the Last Blade character.

Here is the presentation video (linked because embedding it is disabled due to age restriction) that shows the first trailer for King of Fighters XV, as well as the first two characters in the next season of SamSho DLC.
So, also, they've announced KoF XIV Ultimate Edition and KoF 2002 Unlimited Match for PS4. I'm guessing that aside from the NGPC games, they're phasing out Switch support.
As for SamSho, they've announced Cham Cham as the next DLC character, and the Last Blade crossover character will, indeed, be Hibiki. Both excellent choices, in my opinion.

SNK vs. Capcom is out now. However, according to Nintendo Life, SNK has announced a compilation of Neo Geo Pocket Color games for the Switch (including SvC). The price and what games are included have not been revealed yet.
In other news, according to Gamasutra, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is buying up shares of Activision Blizzard, EA, and Take-Two, so SNK isn't the only company being gobbled up.
Nester the Lark: First, The Pokémon Company gets into trouble with that whole Pokémon Masters EX hashtag business, and now this.
Jan 14, 2023 9:55:16 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: That's very embarrassing (and also entertaining). But I wonder why would The Pokémon Company post something they probably didn't make themselves?

nocturnal YL: Got to the ending of Xenoblade. I'll do the post-game contents in Casual Mode since they started to feel grindy. I'll also go back to the parts I skipped (mostly quests and Colony 6); there isn't much reason to play NG+, so I'll just complete the 1st run.
Jan 14, 2023 23:39:45 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I'd like to be playing Fire Emblem Engage, but it wasn't delivered when it was supposed to be, and the shipment tracking hasn't been updated, so I have no idea what happened to it.
Jan 21, 2023 18:21:51 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Times like this make me wonder if Sakurai had the right idea, and buying games digitally is the way to go.
Jan 21, 2023 18:23:18 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Digital is usually more expensive and Switch only supports up to 2TB storage (about 140 to 200 games), but if you want to play games as soon as possible, it's the way to go.
Jan 22, 2023 1:48:00 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I don't know when will I be getting it. I'm still interested, but it's no longer the "pre-order, premium version" kind of interested. These days I order games in bulks, so maybe I'll wait.
Jan 22, 2023 1:49:34 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Finally, an update. It's marked as "out for delivery" again. Fingers crossed.
Jan 23, 2023 12:58:22 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: About the prices of digital games, I often find that when they go on sale, it's usually for very cheap prices. Except for first-party Nintendo games, which rarely go on sale, and not usually for that big of a discount.
Jan 23, 2023 13:01:40 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: But then, first-party Nintendo games usually hold their value for a long time even physically.
Jan 23, 2023 13:02:21 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Welp, that's 0 for 2 on the delivery.
Jan 23, 2023 23:11:36 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: And it's out for delivery again. Third time's the charm?
Jan 26, 2023 12:54:55 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: And that's 0 for 3 on the delivery.
Jan 27, 2023 9:49:06 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: So, the delivery company gave up and sent the game back to the retailer. My order is being cancelled and money refunded.
Jan 27, 2023 20:41:21 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I've been in contact with a customer service rep from the retailer all week, and they didn't understand why the package wasn't being delivered, either. But they're sending me a $30 gift card for the trouble, so that takes the sting out of it.
Jan 27, 2023 20:43:16 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Still considering the digital option at this point.
Jan 27, 2023 20:53:05 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Went back to my Wii U and downloaded updates / free DLC for games I don't have, in case I want to buy those.
Jan 30, 2023 7:22:29 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Wii U having only 32GB of storage isn't helpful at all. 3DS and Switch are expandable via SD cards, while Wii U only supports USB hard disks. It made sense in 2012, but with SD cards going up to 2TB now, not supporting that sounds silly now.
Jan 30, 2023 7:27:19 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: What started off as me checking what can I do with the Wii U ended up with me just having fun with the system. Also relieved that it still works perfectly fine after 2 years of disuse. Except the Wii U GamePad vibration motor, which now makes weird noises.
Jan 30, 2023 12:43:42 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I actually planned to use a mod to dump my games and save data, so that in case anything happens to it I can move on to emulation (since, unlike Switch, there's no save data backup service). I haven't started doing that, though.
