The craziest one is against a black Zamus with a screen flipping effect. You get a Spirt of Alex Rovias from Eternal Darkness, a game it wasn't even sure if Nintendo owned the full rights to.

Captain Falcon with a Henry Fleming spirit brings me much joy.

It's an old, now-defunct fan-site that a good chunk of the active community here used to be members of. Johans, Leon, Shadrio, Parrothead, myself...there's probably more that I'm not thinking of right now, but anyways. The concept was basically submitting ideas for the next Smash Bros. game (at the time, Brawl had yet to be announced,) with approved content being added to a topsite. The first link in my signature is to my successor, which...let's just say isn't as active as SBO was. Though it does better than the other group that came of it, in that it's been online consistently since opening now 13 years ago. I feel old. Let's talk Smash Bros. Dojo. So I missed the Direct, were Spirits announced there? And if so, what do we know about Spirit Battles from there? Plz don’t forget me and my legendary GIF signature. Dang, SBO, Glass Owl, Fusion Lock...those were some fun times. Are any of you guys still in touch with some of the other main guys from the forum?

So obviously I haven’t been keeping up here at NinDB, but I think it’s important that I post the recent announcement here since it’s kinda a huge deal.
Let’s talk Banjo-Kazooie.
It’s overdue, and I’ll absolutely admit that I don’t like Banjo’s design - his eyes are a little too big for my tastes - but I’m only saying any of this because I’m still processing the massive news here. And there’s a lot here for me to be excited about, considering my love of the original game. Seeing the bear and bird back on a Nintendo console is a great sight.
It’s also great to see several of those classic moves. I’m very glad that they did not neglect to include Kazooie’s egg...ahem...laying, and from the perspective of a longtime fan, and someone who (maybe not publicly? Can’t remember. EDIT: Yes I did it’s in the Dream Fighters thread. And while I can’t imagine a huge amount of disparity between movesets because of how many abilities that mole teaches them, I’m still quite excited with how many I called.) has come up with a moveset for these two, I hope Blue Eggs is the side special explicitly for that nostalgic humor. I don’t see that being definite, but again, I hope.
Also. Spiral Mountain is the stage. I’m not 100% sure I like the choice since you spend so little time here per game, but it’s absolutely gorgeous and I can’t deny that.
All in all, there are things that I would have preferred to see in this announcement, but too much is nitpicking, and I’m incredibly happy that this is a thing that happened. Makes me want to give the ol’ N64 another bootup. Though to be fair, that’s not a difficult achievement. =P
(As a note, yes I am aware of the Dragon Quest character, but I’m substantially less interested in him pretty much because I’m substantially less interested in Dragon Quest as a franchise. I’m sure it’s up someone’s alley and I’ll mention that he’s here for the sake of complete reporting, if you will, but I have too little interest to write up an opinion piece like with BK.)
