It's quiz time! As discussed in the Shoutbox, here are a bunch of questions surrounding my gaming preferences, game progress and other trivia of me. Answers should be accurate as of August 2022. Wow, these are actually pretty hard. I'm kind of afraid to try answering them. Would you be offended if I got a lot of them wrong?
I suppose I could try doing a search on the forum, but that feels a little like cheating.
I've only come up with about a dozen questions for my quiz. I want them to be fairly unique to me, but not too obscure.

I actually made this with the expectation that you'll search around. Not just this site, either. And even so, I expect you or anyone else to get most of these wrong, even for things I mentioned directly in this forum.
Some of these questions are about things I've done on other sites, too (e.g. Q17, Q32). And some are more about deducing facts about me than me having mentioned the answer directly (e.g. Q18, Q29). There are also questions that are simply about me off-handedly commenting on what I like and dislike, and answers cannot be found in a single place (e.g. Q25, Q26).
But don't worry too much about being wrong. I don't expect you to follow every single thing I mentioned in the past 20 years. This is less of an exam and more of an excuse to (re-)introduce more trivia about myself. This is also why I don't have open-ended questions for the most part; I expect you to make educated guesses or even wild guesses.
I look forward to your questions too.

OK, I got a little lazy with this because it started to feel like I was taking a college exam. (1) False? Not sure, but just guessing. (2) True? Just a guess, but it seems like something you might have. (3) True? I know you're not a PC guy, but I can see you at least trying something like this. (4) False? Just a guess, but I'm not aware of you having any interest in Xbox. (5) True. I think you've said that with Fire Emblem, you care more about the story, but I think that's the exception. (6) False? Just guessing, but the general consensus is that Ephraim's route has more interesting level design. (7) False? The word “always” is throwing me off here. In general, it's true, but didn't you recently say you let it slide? (8) False? No idea. (9) True. I know how thorough you are and that you like to use guides. (10) True? This is such a specific question that it would be really random if it were false. (Also, is it Excitebike: World Rally?) (11) Four Swords Adventures. It's the odd one, so I'll guess that. (12) Black? No idea. (13) Aqua Blue? Wild guess. (14) Cobalt Blue? Again, completely blind guess. (15) Sunshine? I think I remember you complaining about that one more than the others. (16) F-Zero GX. You don't seem like an F-Zero fan. (17) No idea. I'm sure you have it posted around here somewhere, but I couldn't find it. (18) Metal Slug Advance? I think you mentioned missing that one. (19) Vah Ruta? Can't find if you talked about it, but I think Vah Ruta is probably most people's first since that's what the game steers you towards. (20) No clue. (21) I'll guess Fusion, Samus Returns and Dread. (22) Couldn't even begin to guess. (23) Blind guess: Gex 64, Gex 3, Bomberman 64, Chameleon Twist 2, Lode Runner 3D, and Wetrix. (24) No idea. (25) I would guess mostly physical options, but don't know about exceptions. (26) Partial guess: Fire Emblem Awakening, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, and Rune Factory 4. (27) Another I can't begin to guess. (28) GCN-GBA Link cable and GBA Player? (29) Groove Coaster, Mario Kart, and Taiko no Tatsujin? (30) I'm not even going to try this one. (31) Super Mario Bros., TwinBee, and City Connection? (32) Joy-Con? I think you said you preferred the separate directional buttons to a D-pad. (33) Wii? (34) Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3... Just kidding. Don't know. (35) Segagaga? (36) Six. I actually looked this up. (37) Flash, I think? (38) 2017? (39) Don't know. (40) Kirby? I'm still working on my quiz. I want it to have a good 20 questions, but I'm having trouble coming up with good ideas.

Given that you said it's difficult, you're actually surprisingly good at this! I have a standard answer guide ready, but since you've stated the reasoning behind your answers, I think I'd give a tailored reply. First off, the answers. To anyone else interested in the quiz, don't peek! True or false questions(1) I have finished at least one Metroid Prime game. False. I have Metroid Prime 3, but I stopped at the Ghor fight around halfway through the game.(2) Outside of the Game & Watch Gallery series, I have played other Game & Watch games. True. Besides emulation, I also have a Mini Classic for Super Mario Bros.(3) I once tried playing a PC title from a major PC game publisher. True. The game is Team Fortress 2, which I got when the game went free-to-play. I didn't actually go online, though. I only tried playing against bots.(4) I tried my hand on an Xbox console at some point. False. To date I have yet to play on Xbox.(5) For the most part, I am a gameplay-first person; things like graphics and story come second to that. False. I would more readily forgive gameplay design flaws than bad story or presentation.(6) In Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, I prefer Eirika's route over Ephraim's. True. I like both routes, but I see Eirika as the overall main character, being the focus of the first 8 chapters.(7) I always ended up making items at the highest quality in the Atelier games. False. I didn't bother with making optimal items in Atelier Ryza 1.(8) I like to name the characters in games with customisable names. False. I always stick to default names, and the main character not having a default or canon name is a negative to me.(9) Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is infamous for missable contents, but I never missed anything in my playthrough. False. I got everything except a single glossary entry.(10) There is a game series of which my favourite entry is a WiiWare title. True. The series is Excitebike, and the WiiWare game is Excitebike: World Rally.Multiple-choice questions(11) What is my favourite Zelda game? The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past | The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap | The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures | The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds |
Four Swords Adventures can be played in short sessions, makes interesting use of the Link Cable, and I liked the effects added to the A Link to the Past-style graphics.(12) What colour is my Nintendo GameCube? Most of the time, I'd just go for the most-advertised colour. Orange reminds me of orange-flavoured Kit-Kat, by the way.(13) What colour is my Japanese Nintendo 3DS? Aqua Blue | Light Blue | Cobalt Blue | Metallic Blue |
3DS is one of the exceptions of me going for the default colour. I just like the colour cobalt blue. By the way, "Metallic Blue" is a trick option; the original 3DS is not availalbe in Metallic Blue; that's a New 3DS XL colour.(14) What colour is my North American Nintendo 3DS? Aqua Blue | Light Blue | Cobalt Blue | Metallic Blue |
Aqua blue is the standard 3DS colour at the time it came out. Advertising soon switched to other colours as soon as those were made available, though.(15) Which of the following is my least favourite 3D Super Mario game? Super Mario 3D Land | Super Mario Sunshine | Super Mario 64 DS | Super Mario Odyssey |
The order is Galaxy 2 > 3D World > Galaxy 1 > 64 > Odyssey > 3D Land > 64 DS > Sunshine. Sunshine has an awful camera, unfriendly UI that doesn't let players check which blue coins are collected, and an unnecessarily high difficulty.(16) Of the four Nintendo-published GameCube racing games, I don't have: Wave Race: Blue Storm | Kirby Air Ride | Mairo Kart: Double Dash!! | F-ZERO GX |
F-ZERO GX was too difficult to my taste. I also didn't know how to feel about an F-ZERO game from SEGA at the time.(17) I have perfected two ★9 songs in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone DX, and several other ★8.5 songs. Which was the first ★8.5 song that I perfected? こっち向いて Baby (Look This Way, Baby) EXTREME ★8.5 | 恋は戦争 (Love Is War) EXTRA EXTREME ★8.5 | 愛言葉 (Aikotoba) EXTRA EXTREME ★8.5 | えれくとりっく・えんじぇぅ (Electric Angel) EXTRA EXTREME ★8.5 |
Both Aikotoba and Love Is War are songs that have no business being rated ★8.5, as they're easier than most ★8 songs. I actually got a perfect in Aikotoba before I perfected any ★8 song too. The other two are actually difficult songs worthy of the ★8.5 rating.(18) Which of the following titles have I not played? Metal Slug 4 | Metal Slug 6 | Metal Slug: 1st Mission | Metal Slug Advance |
I didn't even know there was a Game Boy Advance version until years after its release.(19) In my ultimately-abandoned run of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which of the following Divine Beasts have I completed (including the Blight Ganon's defeat)? Vah Ruta | Vah Medoh | Vah Rudania | Vah Naboris |
I finished the puzzles of Vah Medoh and Vah Naboris but didn't defeat the Blight Ganons. I don't even know how to get to Vah Rudania or how to get anywhere near the volcano.(20) What is my favourite Copy Ability in the Kirby series overall? Backdrop | Throw | Fighter | Suplex | Ghost | Metal | Bubble | Mini | Light | Copy | Paint | Ball | Smash | Jet | Water | Bell | UFO | Magic | Crash | Hammer |
The top 3 rows are joke choices, with 4 similar-looking abilities in the 1st row, infamously unpopular picks from the Flagship games in the 2nd row, and situational picks from the old games in the 3rd row. Water and Bell are my favourites from Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby Triple Deluxe respectively.Multiple-response questions(21) Which of the following Metroid games have I finished (seen the ending)? Metroid | Metroid II: Return of Samus | Super Metroid | Metroid Fusion | Metroid: Zero Mission | Metroid: Other M | Metroid: Samus Returns | Metroid Dread |
(Choose 3) This one should be relatively easy, seeing that I mentioned Samus Returns and Dread not that long ago, and that I kept mentioning wanting a Fusion sequel.(22) Which of the following Mario Party games do I have? Mario Party 4 | Mario Party 5 | Mario Party 6 | Mario Party 7 | Mario Party 8 | Mario Party 9 | Mario Party: Island Tour | Mario Party 10 | Mario Party: Star Rush | Mario Party: The Top 100 | Super Mario Party | Mario Party Superstars |
(Choose 5) Skipped 8 because it looks horribly on a widescreen monitor and requires motion control for even things like hitting the Dice Block. Didn't even occur to me to get 10 because I didn't want to bother with setting up the Wii Sensor Bar.(23) Which of the following Nintendo 64 games have I played? You'll have to guess, since I haven't talked about this before. Gex 64: Enter the Gecko | Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko | AeroGauge | World Driver Championship | Micro Machines 64 Turbo | Bomberman 64 (2001) | Super Bowling | Rampage World Tour | Chameleon Twist 2 | Lode Runner 3D | Wetrix | Star Wars Episode I Racer |
(Choose 6) These are from my "try out everything" period. Third-party N64 games tend to be simple and I didn't spend that much time on any of these, so I didn't talk about them.(24) I usually aim for 100% completion in Kirby games, but I can't always achieve it. Which of the following games have I not gotten 100% completion in? Kirby Air Ride | Kirby & the Amazing Mirror | Kirby Canvas Curse | Kirby Squeak Squad | Kirby Super Star Ultra | Kirby's Epic Yarn | Kirby Mass Attack | Kirby's Return to Dream Land | Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition | Kirby Triple Deluxe | Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe | Kirby and the Rainbow Curse | Kirby Planet Robobot | Kirby's Blowout Blast | Kirby Battle Royale | Kirby Star Allies |
(Choose 6) Games I didn't get 100% in are: Mass Attack (requires no-damaging all stages), Dream Collection (didn't get Fighter EX and Smash EX platinum as I'm not good at reading boss patterns), Rainbow Curse (got everything except beating the final boss with no damage), the 3DS downloadable titles (which are much harder than their sub-game counterparts) and Battle Royale (stopped playing since I couldn't stand its frame rate). I also didn't 100% complete Kirby's Dream Land 3 (w/o emulator tricks) because of its difficult sub-games.(25) Which methods of obtaining games have I tried? Order by physical mail | Buy from a game shop | Buy from a toy shop (e.g. Toys'R'Us) | Online order | Buy straight from console even if a physical version is available | Preinstalled on console | Included with console as separate physical media | Win from a giveaway campaign | Buy second hand from a game shop | Buy second hand from a general pawn shop | Buy second hand from an auction site | Find an unclaimed game card lying around |
(Choose 5) I guess I'm pretty traditional when it comes to buying games.(26) Games I criticised (as in, pointed out faults with) at least partly due to the story include: Luigi's Mansion 3 | Super Mario Sunshine | Super Bomberman R | Umihara Kawase | Fire Emblem Awakening | Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 | Rune Factory 4 | Golden Sun: Dark Dawn |
(Choose 3) Some are games I otherwise like, and some are games I dislike but not for story reasons.(27) Which of the following popular pairings (romantic or not) are ones that I like seeing interactions of more than other pairings involving either character? Totori and Mimi (Atelier Totori) | Lulua and Aurel (Atelier Lulua) | Ao and Hinako (BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light) | Amitie and Sig (Puyo Puyo series) | Raigh and Sophia (Fire Emblem: Binding Blade) | Dimitri and Felix (Fire Emblem: Three Houses) | Francisca and Flamberge (Kirby Star Allies) | King Dedede and Meta Knight (Kirby series) |
(Choose 4) This is a question I struggled with making. I originally intended to list Ike and Soren, but then I realised that it's not Soren's interaction with Ike that I don't like, but rather just Soren's own "I'm a victim of racism therefore I must be racist to them too" attitude towards the beast tribe.
I also struggled with coming up with the answers, since in most games I play I really don't care about who and who should be put together. With Puyo Puyo for example, I generally like all combinations. And then there's Kirby and Ribbon or Elline, where I think it'd be more fun to see them in a love triangle (kind of) than seeing just Kirby with either. But that's too complicated for this question.
On the choices I didn't pick: I like Lulua with Stia better, and I think I'm in an extreme minority on this. Ao works with pretty much anyone, but I prefer pairing her with Kirara for having aligning personality and hobbies. Dedue all the way as far as platonic Dimitri pairings go, and Felix can have Sylvain.
And for Dedede and Meta Knight, they're pretty much a crack pairing for their very different personalities. They shouldn't work in sync the way they do Kirby Fighters 2, so it's a pleasant surprise to see their well-coordinated moves. I still associate either of them with their own subordinates or with Kirby more, though.(28) Which of the following peripherals have I used? Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Link Cable | Nintendo GameCube LAN Adaptor | Nintendo GameCube Mic | Game Boy Player |
(Choose 2) GBA Link Cable for games like Four Swords Adventures and Nintendo Puzzle Collection, and the Mic for the Mario Party games. I have games that use the LAN Adaptor (Mario Kart Double Dash!! and Kirby Air Ride), but without a second GameCube, I wouldn't have made use of it.(29) Of the following game series, which ones I have played on an arcade system? Crazy Taxi | Dance Dance Revolution | GROOVE COASTER | Tekken | Bishi Bashi | Mario Kart | Taiko no Tatsujin | Puzzle Bobble |
(Choose 3) I don't play arcade games that often in the first place. Many arcade games have console equivalents anyway.(30) Which of the followings have I achieved? Get 380 green stars in Super Mario 3D World | Finish any Gradius title with no deaths | Get the Blitzkrieg medal (finish game in fewer than 500 turns) in Fire Emblem Echoes | Complete Puzzle Swap in StreetPass Mii Plaza | Get the King trophy in Kirby's Dream Collection | Earn more than $5000 in a single session of Crazy Taxi | Get to the end of Prince of Persia | Get 100% on all save files in a Kirby game | Get a score of 100 in Daigasso! Band Brothers P | Complete any game on Neo Geo Pocket Color | Perfect a Special Live in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X HD | Complete the Easy cluster in Spindizzy Worlds | Collect 120 Azure Petals in Ys IX | Finish a Capcom-developed game based on a Disney IP | Get a perfect in a Taiko no Tatsujin title | Get 120 Shine Sprites in Super Mario Sunshine |
(Choose 8) It's fun coming up with a list of things I didn't do. The Kirby games I got 100% in across all save data are Kirby Super Star Ultra and Kirby's Return to Dream Land, the Neo Geo Pocket Color game I completed is Metal Slug: 1st Mission, and the Capcom games with Disney IP are Aladdin and Goof Troop on SNES.No-choice-given questions(31) What are my first 3 games ever played? Super Mario Bros., TwinBee and City Connection.(32) What is my preferred controller to use for my Nintendo Switch? DUALSHOCK 4. I'd have also used it as a PC game controller if I do decide to play PC games.(33) Excluding unconventional systems like Virtual Boy and Mini Classic, which Nintendo console is my least favourite? Famicom / NES. Games on it are simply too primitive and often have better alternatives (like Super Mario All-Stars). The only game I do really like is Kirby's Adventure.(34) What is my favourite Saturn game? Saturn Bomberman. It's also my favourite Bomberman game. I rarely talk about other Saturn games, because I was a child back then and Saturn games just weren't things I could understand.(35) What is my favourite Dreamcast game? Power Stone 2. I enjoy SEGA's own games like Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure too.(36) Of the physical Nintendo Switch games I've finished, The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince has the shortest play time. How many hours did I spend from the beginning to trophy-complete? (In-game timer, nearest integer hour) 6 hours. And no, I don't feel ripped off. I knew what I was getting when I bought it.(37) I once made game prototypes as a hobbyist, although that didn't really lead to anything. What platform did I develop for? Adobe Flash. I do Flash-related stuff at work too.(38) What was the last year that I got games on Nintendo systems other than Nintendo Switch? 2018. I got Metroid: Samus Returns and WarioWare Gold on 3DS, and Game & Wario on Wii U, which I refused to buy before Nintendo and IS would make regular WarioWare. It's also the year I bought my PS4.(39) I usually prefer Japanese versions, but my Nintendo DS is North American. Why? Because it came with Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt.(40) Who is my favourite fighter in Super Smash Bros. Melee? Young Link. I don't like the game he came from, but as a Melee fighter I really like him. That changed in Brawl when Link and Toon Link had very different physics from Melee's, though. Now, my comments on your answers: (1) False? Not sure, but just guessing. ✓ I mentioned having Metroid Prime 3. I also indicated that I'm stuck at Prime 3.(2) True? Just a guess, but it seems like something you might have. ✓ Yep, I have a Mini Classic.(3) True? I know you're not a PC guy, but I can see you at least trying something like this. ✓ I didn't directly mention this, but you correctly deduced that I'd at least try.(4) False? Just a guess, but I'm not aware of you having any interest in Xbox. ✓ Yep. Completely uninterested. Didn't really get a chance to try it out either.(5) True. I think you've said that with Fire Emblem, you care more about the story, but I think that's the exception. ✗ It depends on the type of game, but usually it's the music that's at the top of my consideration, with elements like UI and story also above gameplay. I think I've complained enough times about feeling betrayed by an otherwise-good story's ending.(6) False? Just guessing, but the general consensus is that Ephraim's route has more interesting level design. ✗ Ephraim's route really has good level design, and a more in-depth story too. After all, to know what's wrong with Grado, entering Grado would be the best way to find out. I think I still like Eirika's route better, if only for not having to abandon my main lord halfway through and having better character recruitment timing in general.(7) False? The word “always” is throwing me off here. In general, it's true, but didn't you recently say you let it slide? ✓ Nice observation! The reasoning is a bit off though; I said I'd live with not having the best items in Ryza 2, but I still managed to reach 999 quality there. It's Ryza 1 that's the exception.(8) False? No idea. ✓ I always stick to default names. I don't think I talked much about it, but I did say I generally play games to learn about the characters, not to literally role-play them.(9) True. I know how thorough you are and that you like to use guides. ✗ Guides at the time only covered important things like summons and Djinn, and I didn't use a guide for everything. I missed out just a single glossary item (I had to tap on the screen's text to read them, and they're easy to miss), and it was too late when I found out.(10) True? This is such a specific question that it would be really random if it were false. (Also, is it Excitebike: World Rally?) ✓ Very nice reasoning! And yes, it's Excitebike: World Rally.(11) Four Swords Adventures. It's the odd one, so I'll guess that. ✓ I actually like action adventure games presented in small chunks, but this and Luigi's Mansion 2 are the only games that I know of with this structure.(12) Black? No idea. ✗ I don't think I've posted pictures of my game hardware. This may as well be a wild guess, but even so, wouldn't Violet be the most likely guess?(13) Aqua Blue? Wild guess. ✗ You got the colours right, but swapped between my 2 3DS units.(14) Cobalt Blue? Again, completely blind guess. ✗ I got the NA one pretty early on before the price drop, and Cobalt Blue wasn't even introduced yet.(15) Sunshine? I think I remember you complaining about that one more than the others. ✗ Yep. I felt pretty bummered that we didn't have a good 3D Mario after 64 for several years, until Galaxy came out.(16) F-Zero GX. You don't seem like an F-Zero fan. ✓ Yeah, unfortunately. I do like Climax in a casual sense, but GX would be too difficult for me anyway.(17) No idea. I'm sure you have it posted around here somewhere, but I couldn't find it. ✗ This is a very devious question! Of course you can't find it; the answer lies deep in my YouTube channel. I only talked about perfecting ★9 songs here, not ★8.5 ones.(18) Metal Slug Advance? I think you mentioned missing that one. ✓ Correct. 1st Mission is the trap option here, being a Neo Geo Pocket Color game that a casual observer would view as the least likely I'd have played.(19) Vah Ruta? Can't find if you talked about it, but I think Vah Ruta is probably most people's first since that's what the game steers you towards. ✓ Nice deduction, but I did talk about it earlier this year.(20) No clue. ✗ UFO being back is one reason I listed for liking Planet Robobot in the newest NinDB Top 25, but I didn't say it's my favourite. Yeah, this one would have to rely on wild guessing.(21) I'll guess Fusion, Samus Returns and Dread. 3/3 Correct. This might be the easiest question here.(22) Couldn't even begin to guess. 0/5 From this post, I mentioned that I have 4, 6 and 7. This post says I have Super Mario Party. I didn't outright say I own a copy of Mario Party 9, but I did mention it a few times in the past.(23) Blind guess: Gex 64, Gex 3, Bomberman 64, Chameleon Twist 2, Lode Runner 3D, and Wetrix. 3/6 For an absolutely-no-hint question, you did very well! Bomberman 64 (2001) is a trick option, as it refers to the Japan-only 2001 release rather than the earlier 1997 version known as Baku Bomberman in Japan, which I did play.(24) No idea. 0/6 I'm generally a completionist in Kirby games, but starting from Kirby Mass Attack, they became too difficult for this to be always feasible.(25) I would guess mostly physical options, but don't know about exceptions. ?/5 Most of the options listed are about getting physical games. The only download versions of physical games I have are games bundled with my Wii U (New Super Mario Bros. U and Wii Party U) and the Play at Home games on PS4.(26) Partial guess: Fire Emblem Awakening, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, and Rune Factory 4. 2/3 My issue with Rune Factory 4 is entirely gameplay-based, not story-related. Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, on the other hand, is unnecessarily dark and scary halfway through, and ended with a cliffhanger even when the future of the series was already uncertain back then.(27) Another I can't begin to guess. 0/4 I generally like pairings that are obvious to pick, with the game dropping hints everywhere that they may as well be canon. I think the only character pairing that I explicitly said I like is negitoro (Hatsune Miku × Megurine Luka), but that's not really a game character pairing. There are also several occasions where I talked about Totori and Mimi, but framed it as liking the event cutscenes involving them.(28) GCN-GBA Link cable and GBA Player? 1/2 I have Mario Party 6 and 7, which come with the mic. Non-mic players screaming unrelated commands to interfere during mic minigames is part of the fun.(29) Groove Coaster, Mario Kart, and Taiko no Tatsujin? 2/3 Very impressive that you got two of them right, seeing that I actually didn't mention having played any of these. I played the rhythm games in my trips to Japan, while Puzzle Bobble was from much earlier back when I discovered Metal Slug 2. I didn't play Mario Kart Arcade GP; I've only ever seen them in children's arcade.(30) I'm not even going to try this one. 0/8 Probably the hardest question here. The only related thing I've ever posted is that I finished Kirby's Return to Dream Land 6 times, and that's in an external link in a completely unrelated topic. Yeah, I may have gone too far with this one.(31) Super Mario Bros., TwinBee, and City Connection? ✓ Yep!(32) Joy-Con? I think you said you preferred the separate directional buttons to a D-pad. ✗ Trick question! I worded it in a way that the answer doesn't have to be a Nintendo Switch controller at all. I did say I prefer the PS4 controller for Project DIVA, but that also applies to all other games. As for the Joy-Cons, my pair has issues. My Joy-Con (L) has a faulty L stick, and my Joy-Con (R) seem to send its motion control data in a very laggy way, which makes playing Project DIVA in Mix Mode a nightmare. So yeah, they don't give me a good impression at all.(33) Wii? ✗ Nah, my least favourite can't possibly be the console that gave me Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Kirby's Return to Dream Land. It's the NES, and it's mostly due to its age.(34) Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3... Just kidding. Don't know. ✗ The only Saturn game I mentioned here is Saturn Bomberman. That has to be it.(35) Segagaga? ✗ My apologies, but I meant to ask about games I've actually played, not just heard about. I'd probably have liked Segagaga if I play it now in retrospect, but the answer I intend here is much more straightforward: Power Stone 2.(36) Six. I actually looked this up. ✓ Yep.(37) Flash, I think? ✓ Correct. I'm rather surprised that this (and some of my skills like foreign languages) would end up helping me in my career.(38) 2017? ✗ Almost got it! It's 2018, the year when WarioWare Gold came out.(39) Don't know. ✗ The difficult part is to find out what's special about the (early) non-Japanese DS units. And the answer is Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt.(40) Kirby? ✗ What is my old user name again?

Some comments on your comments: (13) Aqua Blue? Wild guess. ✗ You got the colours right, but swapped between my 2 3DS units.(14) Cobalt Blue? Again, completely blind guess. ✗ I got the NA one pretty early on before the price drop, and Cobalt Blue wasn't even introduced yet. That's so funny I guessed these right, but in the wrong order. (18) Metal Slug Advance? I think you mentioned missing that one. ✓ Correct. 1st Mission is the trap option here, being a Neo Geo Pocket Color game that a casual observer would view as the least likely I'd have played.I almost said 1st Mission, but the fact you mentioned the NGPC in a later multiple-choice question made me change my answer. (32) Joy-Con? I think you said you preferred the separate directional buttons to a D-pad. So yeah, they don't give me a good impression at all.Believe it or not, I almost said PS4 controller, but I second-guessed myself. (33) Wii? ✗ Nah, my least favourite can't possibly be the console that gave me Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Kirby's Return to Dream Land. It's the NES, and it's mostly due to its age.I was originally going to say NES/Famicom here for that exact reason, but again, I second-guessed myself. Maybe I should stick with my gut instinct in the future. (35) Segagaga? ✗ My apologies, but I meant to ask about games I've actually played, not just heard about. I'd probably have liked Segagaga if I play it now in retrospect, but the answer I intend here is much more straightforward: Power Stone 2.A Power Stone game would've been my second choice. I went with Segagaga just because it was more obscure and Japan-only. (37) Flash, I think? ✓ Correct. I'm rather surprised that this (and some of my skills like foreign languages) would end up helping me in my career.Off-topic, but I'm curious, how many languages do you know? I'm thinking at least four? (38) 2017? ✗ Almost got it! It's 2018, the year when WarioWare Gold came out.For this, I looked up when the last 3DS Kirby game came out, but also considered it may have been the Mario & Luigi game in 2018. My reasoning would've been wrong either way. (40) Kirby? ✗ What is my old user name again? Can't believe I forgot about Young Link! I think it's because he was mostly replaced with Toon Link until Ultimate came out. Anyway, hopefully I'll have my quiz finished soon.

Looking forward to your quiz! And to answer your question, I know 4 or 5 languages to various levels of familiarity: - English (not native, but good enough in most cases) - Cantonese (native, but not particularly good by native standard) - Mandarin Chinese (good enough for classroom use, but not for slangy use in real life) - Japanese (I can kind of read and listen without help, but I have problems with particles in writing and speaking) - French (the course I took said passing it would make my level equivalent to CEFR B2, but I honestly feel more like I'm at A2) For written languages, it's the same and I can read both Traditional and Simplified scripts of Chinese. And of course, as an RPG player, I've also picked up various German words over time, but I can't say I know the language in any meaningful way. EDIT — Bonus fact: the reason I type in British spelling here is partly because I'm from Hong Kong, and partly because this site has a British webmaster and Australian members. In the past, at least. Maybe I should change to US spellings since there are more active Americans here now.

Bonus fact: the reason I type in British spelling here is partly because I'm from Hong Kong, and partly because this site has a British webmaster and Australian members. In the past, at least. Maybe I should change to US spellings since there are more active Americans here now. Don't feel like you have to change for my sake. It's not like American English and British English are that different anyway. Anyway, I've fussed with it long enough. Here's my quiz. All questions are open-ended. I'm not really happy with what I came up with. Most of these are things I've mentioned around the forum at one time or another, so it wasn't intended to be too difficult, but will probably be more challenging for people who don't come here regularly. Only one question is something I only mentioned on Twitter a long time ago. So, here we go: 1 - What was my very first game console? Atari 5200 2 - What game finally convinced me to buy a GameCube? The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker 3 - What genre that I currently enjoy did I used to claim to not care about? RPGs 4 - What is the only mainline, non-spinoff Pokémon game that I've played? Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition 5 - What '90s PC game series was I a big fan of, but was first introduced to on SNES? Wing Commander 6 - What Wii game did I brag about having top 10/top 20 scores for before the leaderboards went offline? Sin & Punishment: Star Successor 7 - What was the last non-Nintendo console I owned? Sega Dreamcast 8 - What is the only Luigi's Mansion game I've played? Luigi's Mansion Arcade 9 - What is my least-favorite Nintendo console that I own? Nintendo 64 10 - All of the amiibo I currently own are from what game series? The Legend of Zelda series. 11 - What was the first Fire Emblem game I managed to finish? Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance 12 - What is my favorite Nintendo racing series? F-Zero 13 - I once had a fan site with a guide for what SNES game? Secret of Evermore 14 - Besides Super Mario 64, what is the only other 3D Mario game I own? Super Mario Sunshine 15 - One of my favorite Nintendo series began and ended on the NES. What is it? StarTropics 16 - While I think the Metroid Prime games are good, I don't really like playing them for what reason? Free-roaming first-person games can cause me motion sickness. 17 - The last time I bought an N64 game brand new was because it was cheaper than a used GameCube version. What game was it? Resident Evil 2 18 - What Nintendo system did I purchase games for before owning the system? Wii 19 - What was the first game I ever played on an NES? Mike Tyson's Punch-out!! 20 - I immediately purchased a Game Boy Advance after what game was announced? Metroid Fusion (announced as "Metroid 4") I'll post the answers in a few days or so. Answers are posted! How many did you get right?

Here's my attempt without looking around the forum: 1 - What was my very first game console? Oh cool. First question and I already can't answer. I think you've played the 2600, but does that count as your (or your household's) own console? I'm going for a wild guess and say Master System for this one.
2 - What game finally convinced me to buy a GameCube? The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Pretty sure you talked about it in a thread about becoming Nintendo fans.
3 - What genre that I currently enjoy did I used to claim to not care about? RPGs. I don't recall the details, but I think you gave games like Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones and the Operation Rainfall games a shot and slowly changed opinion on it.
4 - What is the only mainline, non-spinoff Pokémon game that I've played? You played Pokémon!? Oh well, wild guess time. I have some vague memory now that you mentioned it, and I think it's the one before Black and White? I'll guess Pokémon Diamond.
5 - What '90s PC game series was I a big fan of, but was first introduced to on SNES? I think that's… the Ys series? I'm not sure since I wouldn't count it as a '90s game series since it started in 1987, but it's also the only PC games series I recall you really like and I think your encounter with the series did start from Ys V…
6 - What Wii game did I brag about having top 10/top 20 scores for before the leaderboards went offline? Pretty sure it's Sin & Punishment: Star Successor.
7 - What was the last non-Nintendo console I owned? Dreamcast. You did mention having to decide where to go after SEGA stopped making home consoles, and I don't think you went with non-Nintendo consoles since then.
8 - What is the only Luigi's Mansion game I've played? Luigi's Mansion (Nintendo GameCube). I don't remember anything you said about it, but by elimination, you didn't talk about Luigi's Mansion 3 and you don't have a Nintendo 3DS, and I'm going to guess you haven't played the arcade game either, which leaves the original.
9 - What is my least-favorite Nintendo console that I own? Another that I don't have any idea of, but I'm going to guess Nintendo DS if handhelds count. It's again a process of elimination, as the only systems that I don't recall you've talked about liking the games on are Game Boy, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS. You don't have a 3DS, and I'm not sure if you really don't have any favourites on Game Boy.
10 - All of the amiibo I currently own are from what game series? I'm going to guess The Legend of Zelda. I think you have the BotW Champions.
11 - What was the first Fire Emblem game I managed to finish? Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. I'd have guessed it even if you haven't mentioned anything about the series, since it's the most newcomer-friendly among the older entries.
12 - What is my favorite Nintendo racing series? F-Zero.
13 - I once had a fan site with a guide for what SNES game? My memory on this is very vague, but I think it's Super Metroid.
14 - Besides Super Mario 64, what is the only other 3D Mario game I own? No idea. I don't recall you talking about it on Twitter, so it's probably not a Nintendo Switch game. And I think you weren't particularly into Mario since very early on, so I'm going to guess the earliest possible answer, Super Mario Sunshine.
15 - One of my favorite Nintendo series began and ended on the NES. What is it? StarTropics.
16 - While I think the Metroid Prime games are good, I don't really like playing them for what reason? Because they're played in a first-person perspective? I don't recall you talking about this, but I'm guessing this since you don't talk about other first-person games either.
17 - The last time I bought an N64 game brand new was because it was cheaper than a used GameCube version. What game was it? Not many games are on both Nintendo 64 and GameCube, but there are still a few choices. My guess is The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
18 - What Nintendo system did I purchase games for before owning the system? Is it Nintendo Switch? Just a guess, given the system's early shortage issue.
19 - What was the first game I ever played on an NES? I think it's The Legend of Zelda. In the same post that talked about you getting into Nintendo, I think you mentioned having played Zelda 1 for a bit, and didn't feel much for it at first until getting back to it later.
20 - I immediately purchased a Game Boy Advance after what game was announced? Whoa, now this is a difficult one. I don't recall you liking anything on Game Boy Advance in particular during its lifespan, and you played Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones in retrospect (probably not using the original GBA hardware). Yeah, no idea at all. So I'm going to make a wild guess and say Super Mario Advance 3 (Yoshi's Island).
I'm rather tired from the last few days' work, but I intend to re-attempt this in a day with forum searching and see how different will my answers become.

Okay, now it's time to search around the forum for answers. Note that I don't do searches when I either don't know where to look for or when I'm fairly certain I'm correct. Here goes: 1 - What was my very first game console? Atari 5200. I was way off.4 - What is the only mainline, non-spinoff Pokémon game that I've played? Pokémon Yellow!? From the very first time you mentioned Pokémon in this forum!? I can't believe it!5 - What '90s PC game series was I a big fan of, but was first introduced to on SNES? Wait, no. Let me look around again, then… Oh, Wing Commander. It's from so long ago that I completely forgot.7 - What was the last non-Nintendo console I owned? Still Dreamcast. Seems that you didn't get an Xbox 360, after all.10 - All of the amiibo I currently own are from what game series? Oh, it's Smash Link, OoT Link, Wolf Link & Midna and BotW Zelda. All from The Legend of Zelda.12 - What is my favorite Nintendo racing series? Wait, I didn't look up in the forum, but what was I thinking? How could I forget about Cruis'n?13 - I once had a fan site with a guide for what SNES game? So I think I'm wrong, and I have no idea what could it be after some searching.14 - Besides Super Mario 64, what is the only other 3D Mario game I own? Aha, Super Mario Sunshine is correct, it seems!16 - While I think the Metroid Prime games are good, I don't really like playing them for what reason? Ah, so you did say you don't like the FPS genre.18 - What Nintendo system did I purchase games for before owning the system? Oh, it's Wii, from the same post where I found out about Atari 5200. I too bought a Wii game (WarioWare: Smooth Moves) before I got a Wii.19 - What was the first game I ever played on an NES? Oh, so it's Kung Fu? You're sourcing multiple questions from the a post that I have no memories of!? I'm really, really impressed.20 - I immediately purchased a Game Boy Advance after what game was announced? And this one's from the same post too. It's Metroid Fusion. So that's about half of them wrong. And I'll admit, I actually find this one more fun to do than mine. A lot of my questions are "here's something you don't know, try brute-forcing the answer" and "do I feel like I'm a fan of X?", which made me wonder if I should have introduced those facts in a different format than a quiz. Anyway, I had a lot of fun!

All right, let's see how you did... Correct! Correct! Correct! I feel like I fell off the genre after playing Tales of Symphonia, but I still dabbled with games like Fire Emblem. It was the release of the Operation Rainfall games where I made my formal return. Correct! And I never even finished it. The only other Pokémon game I've played is the original Pokémon Pinball. Correct! I actually mentioned this on Twitter last year, too. Correct! Correct! I came pretty close to getting a PS2 at one point, but Nintendo has satisfied most of my gaming needs. Wrong! It's Luigi's Mansion Arcade. This question is obscure enough that I considered not including it. Wrong! It's Nintendo 64. Not sure if or where I've mentioned this on the forum. Correct! You can add the Sheik amiibo to that list, as well. Wrong! It's Path of Radiance. Maybe I worded this question poorly. I was looking for the first game that I finished, not the earliest Fire Emblem game released that I finished. Although, that still would've been wrong since I finished The Blazing Blade. Wrong! You were actually right the first time. Cruis'n is fun, but it's no F-Zero. The answer is Secret of Evermore. I'm fairly certain I've mentioned this somewhere, but I don't remember where. Correct! Correct! This one is pretty easy to figure out from the question. Correct! Specifically, free-roaming first-person games can cause me to have motion sickness. Correct! Wrong! Kung Fu was the first game I owned on NES, but the first game I played was Mike Tyson's Punch-out!! on a neighbor's NES. Correct! So, your first try got 9/20. Your second try improved to a 13/20. Pretty good either way, I think. Looking back over them, maybe the questions were still harder than I intended.
