I like some of TtF's ideas:
Red I remember a lot of people wanted Red in it when SSBM came out. Maybe if HAL cut down on the number of Pokemon in it then he could be a cool character, who attacks with various Pokemon hidden about his person. I'd imagine it would be quite hard to make into a working character though.
Bubbles Should be in it, but should carry a couple of turning posts as weapons. Just having screech and charge attacks would be boring... at least give him a chance to spin (and then do all sorts of whacking attacks as well)
Takamaru Ideal character for the game. He has a range of attacks and items from Nazo no Murasame Jou that would be excellent. Of course he has sword attacks, but he also has a load of projectiles.
I like the idea of having boss-type characters to fight from each series... perhaps a different non-playable boss for each character (or series) at the end of an Adventure Mode. Perhaps beating on the Duck Hunt dog could be a midway minigame... YES! REPLACE MR. SANDBAG WITH HIM!! ;D

But I guess the places that I went to were full of mostly idiots that didn't want hardly any of the classic characters in it. (Just Pit, Little Mac, and Mike Jones by a few). Also, you called Bubbles a "him." =(

So I did! I could edit it, then delete your message... then it never really happened! BIG FRYGUY IS WATCHING YOU!! And yes, a lot of idiots want obvious characters, and they want them to have stupid attacks. I couldn't believe Nintendo Official Magazine UK printed a letter that said Diddy Kong should have been in SSBM "and he could do cool things like sit on the opponent's face!" WTF!? Since when has sitting on an opponent's face has anything to do with Diddy Kong!? And frankly... what Diddy gets up to in his spare time with Dixie is NONE OF MY BUSINESS!

i dont see why the "clone" characters couldnt just be extra colours/costumes for their counterparts... anyone remember kumachan/pandachan/mr. meat/am2 palm tree from fighters megamix?
no? well it was a game for the saturn and all those charcters had the same move set etc. and were all the same character but looked different

I just had an idea. The Mini-Mario Toys should be an item in SSB3. I don't know what they would do, but anything would be cool. Or Mario's Toy Factory could be a stage, and the Mini-Mario Toys would run all over the place and get in the way. (I wish Nintendo would make real Mini-Mario Toys.)

Nintyboyuno:
King Dedede from Kirby Draco from Bomberman 64 (this wouldn't be in SSB3, because Bomberman 64 was licensed to Nintendo of America from Hudson, and not a game Nintendo developed or owns - it wasn't published by Nintendo in Japan) And there is no bouncy boss made of lava in Yoshi's Story. Are you thinking of Cloud N. Candy... who is made out of clouds? That would suck as a boss!
What stages do you think there should be?

Ah yes, it wasn't a boss, it was made out of orange jelly!

They should come out with a SSB D.S. , That would be awsome for the Nintendo D.S.

I just realized we'll also have to play Super Mario 64x4 without an analogue stick.

It was the first thing I noticed when I saw the E3 screenshots coming in. It's 3D, that much we learned, but 3D without analogue?
Thankfully the PSP hasn't trumped that one either, so it's not like Nintendo will lose out there.
Anyone who has played Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles with a GBA as a controller should know that only limited play can result before the red-raw fingers start appearing. And it's not sensitive enough. I don't WANT to leap on top of a goblin... I want to walk up to it and smack it hard!
Oh well...

Hm, speaking of the DS' controls... I think left-handed people might have some problems controlling games like Metroid Prime Hunters, where you walk with direction pad and look around with the stylus pen... Why? I'm left-handed myself, and I'm not used to holding a pen in my right hand, so I think it'd be quite hard for me to move and look around at the same time in the game. Other left-handed people will probably have this problem too... I could be wrong though, maybe it's not that bad, or you'll just get used to it

Just use the A/B/Y/X buttons instead of the D-Pad and hold the pen with your left.
