Here are a few more details: The game will have an "imitate" feature, which basically means you'll be able to skin your character as various NPCs. This will be possible after collecting certain items, one of which are moogle stamps. In the original game, moogle stamps are used for unlocking tracks in the Blazin' Caravans minigame, so I wonder if that minigame has been removed. (No big loss if it has. It was just a klunkly Mario Kart clone.) According to the PlayStation page, the game will include local couch co-op. I wonder how that will be implemented without each player having their own private screen. Also, apparently you can have AI party members, which is something the original badly needed, although with online multiplayer, it's not as important here. (Not to mention, the AI party members in subsequent games were next-to-useless anyway.)

August 27 is confirmed to be the worldwide release.
I like that they announced this right before Xenoblade comes out. This is my next-most anticipated game of this year.

If you have a save file for XBC2 on your Switch, you can choose to start the game with 100,000G. ( Source) Maybe it's not the most exciting bonus, but it still makes me feel like I'm being rewarded for supporting the previous game.

The Samurai Shodown Neo Geo Collection is coming to Switch and PS4 on July 28. I wonder what exactly Samurai Shodown V Perfect is. Is it actually an unreleased Neo Geo game, or is it something new they made for this collection? EDIT: Also, here is an interview with SNK's Adam Laatz and Code Mystics' Jeff Vavasaur at Siliconera about the Switch release of SNK Gals' Fighters. It has a few interesting bits, like how the "two screens on one Switch" multiplayer mode was added so that it could be used on a Switch Lite. Also, it sound likely that more NGPC games are on the way, and possibly even a compilation. EDIT 2: Wow. Apparently SamSho V Perfect actually is an unreleased Neo Geo game!

I'm surprised at some of the hardware and IP Sega chose to represent with those icons. A Master System instead of a Mark III? A tower of power (albeit, the mini version)? Rhythm Thief? Pretty cool, though.
Might have to temporarily change my avatar.

I'll tread lightly, but I'm sure I'll still stumble across a spoiler here and there. Eh, that's OK. I'd rather play through the games on my own terms rather than feel like I need to rush through them or play them in a certain order just because there are spoilers floating around online. Nintendo Life has translated the full Famitsu interview with Takahashi. You can read it here, but here are a few interesting bits: Famitsu: When did development on Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition begin?
Takahashi Tetsuya: I remember we launched the project near the end of 2017, immediately following the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. At the time, development of Torna – The Golden Country was in progress, so production of both projects was simultaneous. A planning document was created while Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC was being produced, and was completed around May 2018. We officially started development in August 2018, after development of Torna – The Golden Country wrapped up. I think in that sense, it could be said that both projects had been progressing alongside each other, but staff was divided three ways – staff working on a new title, staff for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, and staff working on both.
. . .
Famitsu: Aside from the graphics, UI and music, is there anything else you changed from the port from the Wii?
Takahashi: I think it’s very important not to alter game content such as the story and battles, and as such, remains unchanged from the original. That said, there were new mechanics added. Autosave, casual mode, quest and landmark stacked EXP bonuses, advanced level settings that allows players to level down at any time, time attack, event theatre, fashion equipment, and more.
Famitsu: Please tell us about the concept behind the production and development of “Future Connected.”
Takahashi: I’m half-joking here, but there was a lingering feeling of pity towards Melia, but really, there were two reasons. First, it would appeal to existing fans and would continue the story towards the future of Xenoblade, and second, so we could finally show off the shoulder of Bionis, a map that didn’t fit into the main game, but was perfectly suited for this role. I'm curious about that "new" title. I know they were hiring for work on an original game a few years ago, and there was concept art, but I was wondering if it got past that initial early development phase. Sounds like it's still coming.

Look at all those nopon. This battle system looks awesome and hilarious!
EDIT: According to an interview with Tetsuya Takahashi in Famitsu, Future Connected will take about 10-12 hours to finish the story, or about 20 hours if you include all the side content. That's a bit shorter than I was expecting. I thought it would be about the length of Torna ~ The Golden Country, which was 30+ hours to do everything. Apparently, it would've been longer if it had been paid DLC, but MonolithSoft wanted to put their resources elsewhere. Other notes from the interview: - Monolith Soft’s First Production staff was divided into three sections: one section to work on Xenoblade: Definitive Edition, one to work on a new title, and one to work on both.
- While character graphics were not the best in the original version, they have been improved in Xenoblade: Definitive Edition.
- Since this is a remaster, Monolith Soft was not able to re-record all the music with an orchestra. Instead, they improved the quality and rearranged it.
- Data compression is better mitigated and sound quality more enhanced compared to Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Finished my playthrough of the Crimson Flower route in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Part II was shorter than I thought it would be. It was kind of depressing, though. Glad it's over. I figured if I ever do a third playthrough, I might as well get the DLC, but with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition just around the corner, I won't be thinking about that anytime in the near future. Also, I got SNK Gals' Fighters about a week ago. It originally came out for the Neo Geo Pocket Color in 2000 at the end of the system's lifespan, so it was a bit of a rarity. It's cool that SNK brought it to Switch. The game, itself, is fairly bare bones. Only eight characters, plus three unlockable characters, each with their own (simple) ending. The only game modes are Q.O.F. (single-player), VS., and Training. But the game is fun, plays well, and has a lot of charm. Something interesting about it is how it uses the Switch's touchscreen in handheld mode. If you've seen footage of it, then you've noticed it uses an actual Neo Geo Pocket Color as the border around the screen. It's actually not just for decoration, as you can detach the joy-cons, and play the game using the on-screen buttons. (Of course, you can also just zoom in and make the screen larger.) Also, if you play in VS. Mode, it will divide the screen, simulating linked NGPC's. Pretty cool they took advantage of the Switch like that.
It also makes me wish that SNK had just made a straight up Gals' Fighters 2 instead of SNK Heroines.

I can never tell if it's my imagination, or if NoA just isn't that enthused for the Xenoblade series. Nintendo of Europe tweets about it way more frequently, and they've changed to a Xenoblade banner. (As of now, NoA still has Animal Crossing.)
On the other hand, Nintendo's Japanese account tweets about it even less, but maybe they just leave it up to MonolithSoft.

So, it turns out that Jenna Coleman does, in fact, still voice Melia in Future Connected.
A representative from NoA confirms it in this video (at about 1:49):
Also, at 9:43, they confirm there are other new armor sets! Also, outfits can be swapped between the main game and Future Connected.

It's just been revealed that there will be a Time Attack mode, similar to the Land of Challenge from the Xenoblade 2 DLC. Here are details courtesy of GoNintendo: - more or less the equivalent of Challenge Battle mode from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - defeat waves of enemies as quickly as possible - the entrance for this mode is located in Colony 9, located right next to the Furnace - when you pass through the entrance for this mode, you'll find Nopon Archsage waiting for you - talk to him to select from a growing list of challenges, with more unlocked as you progress through the main story - there are two types of challenges: Free and Restricted - Free lets you choose which characters will be in your party, and there are no particular restrictions - Restricted gives you challenges with specific restrictions (max. Level, fixed party members, etc.) - when you've defeated all the enemies, your performance is evaluated based on various criteria (clear time, etc.) - you will be given a rank, and a certain amount of Nopon Crystals based on that rank - these crystals can then be traded for various rewards, such as equipment, gems, and more - one of the rewards you can get are new costumes for the various party members, which you can see in the images below So, there will be new costumes, but I hope there are more than just swimsuits and casual wear. Also, if it's like XBC2's challenge mode, could there be guest characters? I'm guessing no, unless they're exclusive to NG+. (Although, the Nopon Archsage does like his fan service.)
