Here's a new trailer from Nintendo UK that, towards the end, reveals Melia's English voice in Future Connected.
This has been a point of discussion for some fans, because in the original game, Melia was voiced by an actor named Jenna Coleman who, after working on Xenoblade, got her big break, and landed a role on the TV series Doctor Who. Since then, she's gone on to become a more well-known actor (at least in the UK). This has led fans to wonder if she would return to voice the character in Future Connected, or if doing voice work for a video game would be beneath her at this point in her career.
And the funny thing is that, even being able to hear the character's voice in the new trailer, fans can't seem to figure out if it's the same actor or not. Some say it must not be Jenna Coleman because it sounds different from the original, while others say it does sound like her, just 10 years older.
I'm not personally invested in this, as I'm not familiar with Jenna Coleman beyond Xenoblade, and I really don't care if the character gets recast, but I am curious about the situation.
I tried comparing Melia's voice in the trailer to an interview Coleman did in 2018, and I personally can't tell if it's the same. They do sound very similar to me, but the accent may be throwing me off.
What do you guys think?

Things have been pretty quiet with this game lately. I guess I didn't post about it, but obviously the January release date was delayed until sometime this summer, although with the current situation, I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being even later. However, with Toshiyuki Itahana being stuck at home, it seems that he's spending his time painting FFCC artwork in a watercolor style, and posting it to his Twitter account. Most of it seems to depict an ongoing story of a Clavat and a Selkie exploring a cave (perhaps Selepation Cave). I thought I'd share a few of them here: I don't know if he'll ultimately compile them into a Twitter Moment, but you can find them all scattered throughout his Twitter timeline.

It's a long wait for this game to come out. There have been a number of new details revealed in the past week that I'm happy about. Both the original and remastered versions of the soundtrack will be included, and not only can you switch between them, but you can separately customize which soundtrack you hear during battles and field exploration. Since I've played the original game, I'll probably be sticking with the remastered soundtrack overall. The money and materials you need to rebuild Colony 6 will be noted in the menu rather than having to talk to Juju and write everything down. I like town-building mini-games, but I never got very far with Colony 6 because it was always so annoying finding the right materials. (ie. Get a number of some rare material you can only get from a certain monster that only appears in a particular area during a random rainstorm.) I don't know how much this will help, but I'd like to try to put more effort into this side quest this time. Future Connected really sounds like it'll be a "Torna ~ The Golden Country" type of expansion for the original game. It's immediately selectable from the title screen, so it's likely that nothing will carry over from the main game. Also, it's confirmed to have a different battle system of some sort. There's been speculation that the story will have some connection to Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but I think it's more likely that it'll be some kind of setup for a future Xenoblade game. I don't plan on touching it until I finish the main game again, so it could be months before I get into it, and avoiding too many spoilers during that time will be difficult. Anyway, here's a rundown of features, courtesy of GoNintendo ( source and source): - the Quest screen has been revamped, and information is presented in a clearer way - if you set a Quest as Active Quest, then you will be guided to your destination - you can enlarge the map to get a better look at where you need to go - the Colony 6 reconstruction quest has been made more convenient - now you can check how much money and what kind of materials you need for reconstruction straight from the Menu screen - you can see the Affinity Chart from the Menu screen, seeing details about the various people you’ve met during your journey - those details are recorded in their Profile - you can see the hours they are active, the places they can be found at, items you can trade with them, and more - Fashion Gear allows you to choose what your characters look like at all times - you will keep the stats of the “main” equipment even while wearing different looking gear
- "a story that leads to the future" - a new scenario featuring Melia - a new map - use the Nopon reinforcement army - new battle system - new way of tracking sidequests - the ability to swap between original score and remastered soundtrack reconfirmed - refined map system It'd be cool if there were some new costumes for the original game. I was never too crazy about the original designs; many of them looked so ridiculous. But I don't really expect the game to be altered that much. This game really makes Twilight Princess HD look so cheap in comparison. I thought I read somewhere that Tantalus actually wanted to do a more significant upgrade to the original game, but in the interest of getting it out quickly, Nintendo told them to stick closely to the original, so they added a couple of extra spikes to Link's hair and called it a day.

It seems that the Neo Geo Pocket Color game SNK Gals' Fighters will be available on Switch soon. Perhaps there will be more NGPC games to follow.
I've been undecided about the Switch version of Samurai Shodown lately. On one hand, I'd like to wait and see if it comes down in price a bit. (It's only been out in NA for two months.) On the other hand, I worry that it may have had a limited print run. (Of course, there's always the digital option, but still...)

I gave the demo a once-over. It has two songs, multiple difficulty levels, Arcade and MegaMix modes, and a couple of extra costumes for Miku, so there's a little bit of content to play with.
I had fun with it. I think I would've actually preferred the motion controls, except that holding the Joy-cons that way really hurt my hands. Also, it seems easy to accidentally hit the Home button, which obviously throws off my rhythm.

April 20 is the 30th anniversary of the original Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light on the Famicom.
Of course, the series didn't make its way West until "Fire Emblem" (aka Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken) came out on the GBA in North America on November 3, 2003.

OK, so checking some guides and Fire Emblem Wiki, apparently Lysithea can be recruited in Crimson Flower Chapter 14 regardless of who defeats her.

Byleth. It's always Byleth. Others can't recruit them. Similarly, for those who may or may not die in story (like Claude in Crimson Flower), their fates are decided by whether Byleth is the one taking them down. I... don't know what to say. I absolutely did not recruit her before the time skip, and I defeated her with Dorothea. I then got the option to either persuade her to join me or kill her. A glitch, perhaps? I did defeat Claude with Byleth, and chose to spare him. He then requested I not kill any of his students, and I'm thinking, "Uh, guys, don't tell him about Hilda..." XD

So, I've been trying to keep busy replaying games I already have. I actually started an Ys VIII New Game+ on Nightmare difficulty last January, but I put it aside when Tokyo Mirage Sessions came out. I've recently gone back it. Even Nightmare difficulty is fairly easy at first when all your characters start out with levels in the high 70s, but I've just recruited Hummel, and the difficulty is starting to catch up with me. I've already gotten a game over. (And actually, I failed the first raid the first time I tried it, but all of the defense upgrades were reset. I wasn't allowed to re-upgrade them again until later, which I was able to do 100 percent all at once.) I've also gone back to my Fire Emblem: Three Houses Crimson Flower playthrough. I'm post-time skip, and the one student I wanted to recruit, but wasn't able to, was Lysithea. However, I was still able to recruit her when I defeated her in battle. I haven't looked into how recruitment works post-time skip, so it was a nice surprise. (I beat her with Dorothea, so I guess it had nothing to do with defeating her with Byleth or a member of her own house. Maybe it's just because I was close to the recruitment criteria?) I was not given that opportunity with Hilda (and I used a fair number of Divine Pulses trying to see if I could trigger it somehow), so I ended up having to kill her. Oh well, that's what she gets for being lazy.

Rick May, the English voice of Peppy Hare and Andross in Star Fox 64, has tragicaly passed away due to COVID-19. From GoNintendo: We are unbelievably saddened to tell you that Rick May, the voice behind Peppy Hare and Andross in StarFox 64, has passed away. Rick suffered a stroke in Feb. 2020, and had been moved into a nursing home for his rehabilitation. While there, Rick was exposed to the coronavirus, which ended up taking his life while he was in the care of a Swedish hospital.
Outside of his work in video games, Rick was a a teacher at the Rekindle School, where he directed or appeared in over 300 shows. The Rekindle School has opened up an email address for those who want to send their condolences to Rick's family. You can do so by reaching out to rekindleschool@gmail.com. It seems he did not reprise his rolls for Star Fox 64 3D or Star Fox Zero, but his line "Do a barrel roll!" is one of the most iconic and quoted lines from a Nintendo game. Rest in peace.

Here's a Gematsu interview with Toshihiro Kondo that touches on a few interesting things. Here are some highlights: —Falcom games are notorious for their delayed releases in the west. Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki, for example, never made it out in English. With the PlayStation 4 versions on the way, are there any plans to release those titles in the west? How about Ys IX: Monstrum Nox?
Kondo: “I very much regret that we were unable to release Zero and Ao [in the west]. I think that releasing on PlayStation 4 will lead to an opportunity to release these games in North America and Europe. As for Ys IX, preparations are currently underway for release [in the west].”
—With the release of Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki for PlayStation 4, the Trails in the Sky series will be the only games in the mainline Trails series not playable on PlayStation 4. Given that they were re-released for PlayStation 3, do you plan on making these titles available for PlayStation 4 as well? Is there any hope of playing the PSP-only Nayuta no Kiseki on a modern console?
Kondo: “Both users who own modern consoles and platform holders often request Trails in the Sky, so I have some homework to do. Personally, I’d like to recreate everything in 3D. Nayuta‘s gameplay is also extremely well received, so I think it would be a waste to bury it as a PSP-only title.”
—During the shareholder meeting in December, you brought up working on an in-house game engine. What was behind the decision to make a new engine entirely instead of using something like Unreal Engine 4?
Kondo: “We considered Unreal Engine as an option at first. For the Trails of Cold Steel series, we used an external engine, and it was good enough when we just started working on the series, but as development and the series advanced, there were some incompatibilities with our game plan. For example, in the Trails of Cold Steel series, a large number of unique models are displayed during events, but the engine isn’t suitable for that sort of thing. The staff proposed that, if we move forward on that condition in the future, we would be better off with our own engine. Each [engine route] comes with its own benefits and inconveniences, I don’t think it’s a discussion of which one is superior.”
. . .
—Fans of Falcom games have been growing immensely in the west in the past few years. What kind of effort has there been to get the feedback of English-speaking fans, and how much has this growing audience impacted business decisions within the company?
Kondo: “I have actually had more opportunities to exchange information with distributors, media, and users in North America and Europe over the past few years. I’m happily surprised because we haven’t had these opportunities in the past. These days, sales in North America and Europe are extremely important to Falcom, and are often brought up on the agenda when discussing possible title selection and content. I think it’s a very good thing.”
—Before we go, is there anything else you would like to say to our audience or to fans of Falcom games in the west?
Kondo: “Thank you for your interest in Nihon Falcom games. Falcom will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year. Falcom has been carefully crafting game content for 40 years, and we believe that’s what has led us to today. You all may have only learned about our content recently, but we want to keep delivering carefully crafted game content as we always have been in the future, so we hope you’re in it with us for the long run.”

I wonder if the fact that one of the "Platinum 4" being just an April Fools joke was intended to be a reference to how one of the Capcom 5 also never came out.
I didn't really see any other worthwhile jokes, either. It was mainly cheap pranks from news outlets saying things like Nintendo was going to re-release Hotel Mario and stuff like that.
EDIT: Well, there was this fake announcement for a new Donald Duck game from the makers of Monster Boy. It turns out, however, that this was from an actual pitch they made to Disney. It was turned down, so they recycled the concept art for the joke.
And that's a shame about Cipher. It has some cool artwork.

Hopefully this isn't an April Fool's joke, but Game Informer has announced that NISA is localizing Trails of Cold Steel IV for release in the West on PS4 in 2020, and on Switch and PC in 2021. That's one step closer to an Ys IX port. I've been slowly working my way through the demo of Cold Steel III, and I still don't think this series is for me. There's nearly an hour's worth of continuous cutscenes in the demo. (There is a fast forward function, so you can skip them easily, but if you follow the story and listen to all the voice acting, it really does go for that long.) It's like this series wants so badly to be a visual novel, but shoehorns in some RPG stuff. (I'll admit, though, it was kinda cool to see some characters from Trails in the Sky drop in, but this time a few years older.) From a technical standpoint, however, I think it's a really good port. It runs smoothly, and doesn't suffer from any of Ys VIII's odd issues, like the resolution constantly changing for no reason. Engine Software has done a very good job, so here's hoping they handle an Ys IX port in the future.
