Well, I see this controller as potentially the first controller ever to actually give you "CONTROL" of what of what is going on in the game, rather than simply the ability to make things move by pressing buttons.
The possibilities are mind-blowingly endless - Nintendo obviously has some HUGE plans for this new system. The ability to have this much direct control over a game... it's just so impressive that I honestly can't wait to see this thing in action.
Unprecedented control - how could that possibly be a bad thing? It's bloody AWESOME! ;D

I'm absolutely loving this! Shame on all of you who thought negative things for a few seconds, I was lost in happiness the first time I saw it! Oh the possibilities! But the thing is, there are now less mysteries to unravel about the new console - waiting is almost the best part, second only to the first time you boot up a new console - now all I have to wonder about are the games, the numerous peripherals for the Big Stick* and the final name of the console *the gaming community will be thinking up a new nickname for this controller, and I think the Big Stick would do just fine.

Not true. The best part is that moment just after something is unveiled when you finally twig just what it is that's been achieved. That's better than any kind of waiting

Hold on. You hold the remote control-like control like a remote control. So only one finger will do the playing? How are we going to play Smash bros.? Exclusives are great, but will there be any multi-platform games? I'm sorry guys, but I'm disappointed with this control. I convinced myself to like that other design that was posted up a couple months back, that was confirmed to be fake, and I was even hyped up about it. But a control that is just like those "gaming controls" on airplanes just doesn't appeal to me. My hand is too big to play those airplane games. I do hope that this is not the final design, and that the control with the analogue stick is not connected by a wire. There is an analogue stick attachment called the nunchuck. That makes two hands doesn't it? FPS: Move with the nunchuck analogue (from now on I will call it the nunchuck) aim with the Pointer, shoot with A, swap weopans with B. Strategy: Left Click = A, Right Click = B, Move Mouse = Move Pointer Adventure: Move with nunchuck, check things out with Pointer, A action button, B secondary button. Action: Pointer move camera, A lock on, Pointer while locked on uses weopon, B weopan switch, A while locked on unlock on. Fighting: No more stupid button combos to execute moves! Just use the pointer with the buttons and you will be able to execute many combos! With SSB, so freaking easy! Hasn't it occured to you that we could use either the nunchuck or the Dpad to move, B+A for special attacks? Maybe moving with the pointer, A+B attacks, b/x+a/y jumps? There are so many dfifferent ways to configure the buttons for SSB I cant even post them all! RPGs and Action-RPGs: They could easily incorperate many of the controlls from action and adventure games. Racing: Turning and Cornering with the pointer, using special attacks/items with A, Accelerate simply by pushing quickly forward, pull back quickly brake. Flying: Move around with the pointer, A shoot, B shoot special, x/b swap special, Pointer push forward quickly boost, pull back quickly brake, a/y change camera angle. How would you barrel roll in StarFox? Move to the side and roll the controller! A U turn? Easy! The controller is basically the airplane itself! Just do a U turn with the pointer! Flip? Do a flip! Easy! You could easily pull of arial acrobatics instead of using the c stick! Even more acrobatics could be added! Mini-games: The possibilities are limitless! Zelda: Revolution will rock, you know how Ocarina of Time had all those mini-games? Imagine fishing! Imagine Bombchu Bowling! Mario Party also comes to mind. Mario Party for the Rev will certainly be good. THE REV WILL ROCK!!!! Do you know how much the DS sold? More than the PS2 and the PSP combined. This new pointer will make me be able to play with my 9 year old sister, my 46 year old dad, my 37 year old mum! A 5 year old even! You know how 5 year olds can easily play eyetoy? Well this is the same thing! You don't have to be a gamer to enjoy games anyomore!

Let's not forget that good old PC stalwart, the point and click adventure. The DS has already had one (and I'm hoping for many, many more) but the Revolution could also make use of this.
Don't forget, several of the demos shown represented the action onscreen with a crosshair. This could be utilized just like a computer mouse on the TV for adventures and the like.
And let's not forget the wonderful lightgun games!

Point and click games are fun for a while but usually get boring after a while due to the lack of 'true interactivity' associated with them (like in Pokemon Channel). I hope nintendo get round to devising a 'proper' controller, one that can't be mistaken for a remote and that can be seen as a true evolution of a GC controller. Oh, and lightgun games haven't been seen since the SNES's Super Scope.

Doesn't mean lightgun games aren't heaps of fun.
I hope Nintendo doesn't put too much focus on this traditionally-shaped controller shell they've mentioned. I want them to push the innovative line and encourage developers to develop for the wand, not for the shell (which would be just more of the same).
I'll all for change here! ;D

Shiver me timbers. In love for Nintendo, I've tried all afternoon thinking of positive things about the controllers, and I guess that this controller is not a bad idea. Although I need to get a hands-on experience to see if the controller fits me, I'm looking forward to what the Revolution will deliver us through what has been posted. I hope this step Nintendo is taking is a step on top of Microsoft and Sony. ...............................................................................WOO HOO!

Someone told me that today was Talk-Like-a-Pirate Day. Is this for real, or is it just a coincidence that the last three posts incorporated pirate-speak?

I hope Nintendo doesn't put too much focus on this traditionally-shaped controller shell they've mentioned. I highly doubt they will put much focus on it at all - for better or worse (hopefully better), every single first party Nintendo game in the first year is going to be played with the remote, even if it is a bigger flop than the Virtual Boy. But theres something I need to bring up - the lack of actual games, or even a little clip of whats coming. I have a number of conspiracy theories on this... 1) If you saw how this thing worked with a 'typical' game (Eg. Mario, SSB) you would see how unbeleivably awesome this was and Sony and MS would steal it. 2) Theres more to the Rev than a TV remote... like something to do with how the game is presented, perhaps? Like 3D projection / virtual reality, maybe? Or that multiple focus point thingo that was rumoured a while back? 3) Nintendo have no idea how to make 'real' games work on this, and are searching the internet as we speak for the best fan ideas. 4) Or, most likely, they're being held of until November when they can take a chunk out of the X360's hype. Although 4) seems the most likely, part of me still thinks that Nintendo is still hiding something. And something good. So, what do you think - Am I a genius, or a crackpot? Or both?

You're either a genius, or you've read many of the interviews with Nintendo reps.
There ARE more surprises in the pipeline -- this controller has been confirmed as just ONE of the surprises over the coming months. We know we are going to find out more in the region of wi-fi next month (just ahead of the big DS wi-f enabled releases) which will include more Revolution stuff as well.
It will run on TVs... Nintendo has said this specifically.
But I imagine the games are being held back unti: A) Sony and Microsoft reveal REAL screenshots of their games in action (rather than mocked up CGI demos or "fancy" screens - the latter being Microsoft, the former being both) B) More third-parties have something in the pipeline to show alongside the Nintendo games.
On another note, Ubisoft's Michael Ancel (Rayman, Beyond Good & Evil) seems to have actually fallen in love with Nintendo's controller. He's been raving with some of the finest English words I've heard spouting from a Frenchman's mouth. Worth noting, as he's a very respected developer these days.
